When fueling up my vehicle at the end of the pumping procedure, gas shoots out of tank and depending on pressure it can reach my forehead.
We were filling the fuel tank at a gas station, after the tank was filled it sprayed fuel on my wife. I have investigated this issue online and found this recall. I will also contact Dodge ,but I also have read a few instances where they are resistant to this safety issue so I decided to also report it here.
While filling the gas tank, the pump shuts off, then fuel pours out of the filler. This happens at any gas station, and almost every time we fill up the tank. This an an extreme hazard and a very costly inconvenience. Every time we fill up, gas is wasted, the car becomes a dangerous and horribly smelling hazard. Dodge recalled the 2005 Durango for the same issue, but has yet to do the same for the following model year!.

When I fill my gas tank to full or close to full, the gas leaks or sprays back around the fuel door.
When trying to put fuel to fill up the car gas explodes out of tank. This happens any time when trying to put gas in the vehicle, it's probably at least a half gallon each and every time, it gets all over me the vehicle the ground. It's to the point were I can't even fill up, fuel shouldn't come out when filling a vehicle up and with the summer months upon us this is a great hazard. I would figure this is a major fire hazard and would need to be fixed, 2005 Dodge Durangos were recalled for the exact same thing, but I haven't seen anything for the 2006 Dodge Durangos.
When filling up the gas tank the tank overflows spraying gas all over.
I just purchased this vehicle used from a certified Chrysler dealership. Before finalizing purchase, the dealership filled the gas tank for us. The sales manager noted that he needed to clean up the side of the vehicle--that the gas pump had overflowed. 2 days later when I went to fill up the tank, I had the same issue--the gas tank overflowed. I have looked this issue up online and it seems there was a recall for only a select set of VIN numbers. According to Chrysler, my vehicle was not a part of the recall. Clearly, my vehicle should have been included. It appears the fix to this issue is to replace the gas tank. Also, it is now clear to me that the 2 small rust bubbles near the gas tank are being caused by gas overflowing every time somebody fills up the vehicle. This is a safety issue and should be fixed by the Chrysler corporation.
On multiple occasions, at multiple different gas stations and pumps, the fuel tank overflow fails to shut off before gas spills or sprays out of the tank.
I bought a used 2005 Dodge Durango limited on 4/3/2012. After the purchase I went to the gas station to fill it up. Gas spilled out of the tank when I attempted to fill the tank. Since then, this has happened two more times. I contacted Chrysler and filed a complaint because this is a serious safety issue. I was told there was a recall on the gas tank filler tubes on some Durangos, but that the recall was not for 2005 models. This is a fearful situation as I bought this vehicle to transport my grandchildren.
Fuel shut off valve in the vehicle is malfunctioned. Bought used a few weeks ago and have filled up 3 times now, and every time, the pump is not activated to shut of and fuel flies out o the gas tank, getting all over the vehicle, the gas pump, and sometimes the person pumping the gas. Huge safety hazard!!.
When filling fuel tank completely, fuel spits back out at the owner and down the quarter panel, every time. We purchased this vehicle used one month ago. We've tried different gas pumps at different gas stations owned by different companies. I feel this vehicle should be covered under the recall that covers earlier Durangos. I rather lick a fat clown's [xxx] than buy another Chrysler product. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Before gas nozzle clicks off. Gas sprays back out the tank and goes all over person, car, and ground. After the spray of gas the nozzle will click off.
Gasoline sprays back onto person filling the tank after the pump kicks off. Safety issue just purchased as a used vehicle from the Dodge dealership in pulaski , WI s&l motors 2298 hwy 32 pulaski,WI 54162.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while refueling, gasoline spewed from the filler neck without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was advised to the contact that the fuel tank would possibly need to be replaced but a diagnosis was required. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline) in 2005. The vehicle was not repaired for the recent failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 99,000. . . . Updated 04/25/13 the consumer stated dealer advised the manufacturer that the vehivcle had two leaks that were causing the failure. The dealer claimed the second leak was unrelated to the first leak. The consumer has a video clip of the failure. Updated 05/17/2013.
While filling up the gas tank, gas sprayed out once the tank hit full. I called Dodge due to the fact there was a recall on this exact incident with the same year, make, and model. I was informed that my VIN was not one of those that was included in the recall. But I was offered to go ahead and pay for the repair and then call them back and they would give me a Chrysler address I could send a copy of the original form of payment and the detailed bill and they might reimburse me for my expense.
When fueling my vehicle, the gasoline always overflows and spills out onto the ground and myself when the tank gets full. My VIN # was not included in the recall and we just bought this used from a dealership. Is there any way we can get this remedied at no more cost to us?.
When putting fuel in the gas tank, once it fill up it shoots gas out. Not a little gas either, alot of gas. It's very dangerous. They had a recall on the 2006 through 2008 Durangos but not the 2005. The recall was for check valve in the gas tank. This is extremely dangerous and I can't believe the wouldn't want to fix this before someone really gets hurt.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. The contact stated fuel spilled out of the filler neck upon refueling. The failure recurred whenever fuel was added. The vehicle was not to the dealer to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). The failure mileage was 68,340. Updated 02/06/bf updated 02/29/12.
You can not fill the gas tank over 3/4 full as it will result in a massive fuel spillage out of the filler neck. The backwash out of the tank will cover you and the side of the car and you with fuel. It does not matter what kind of fuel station is filling it happens every time. If there was any kind of spark a large fire would occur.
Fuel gushes out of the gas tank when filling up with gas. About one or two seconds after the fuel nozzle automatically shuts off because the tank is full, fuel will gush out of the tank for about another one to two seconds. I believe this is a fire hazard and a general safety concern. The Dodge dealer tells me it's a stuck roll over valve and not under waranty or covered in a recall.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Durango. While adding fuel to the vehicle, the fuel spilled out of the filler neck whenever the fuel tank was full. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
When the gas tank reaches full or nearly full the fuel "burps" out spilling a significant amount of fuel to the side of the vehicle and on the ground. This is nearly 100% of the time. This may be caused by the fuel tank inlet check valve not closing properly this creates a risk of fire and is likely the same issue as the 2005 Durango that has a recall for this reason.
Fuel spitting out of tank on fill up.
This truck was purchased used in November 2011 with 45000 miles. I have filled the tank 3 times and every time the pump auto shut-off clicks and a few cups of fuel overflows and spills down the side of the vehicle. The 2005 model year was recalled with this same problem, but 2007 had not yet been recalled.
The car's fuel tank fails to shut-off, I. E. It doesn't appropriately respond to the shut-off mechanism. Gasoline overflows from the tank, sometimes in a spills out sometimes it flows out! it doesn't matter if I use the lowest setting on the gas pump or if I manually fill the tank, once full it overfills every single time I'm refueling and gas pours out of the fill spout, running down the body of the vehicle, on my hand on my clothes and on the ground! it's not just dangerous with simple static electricity, it's a fire waiting to happen!.
Fuel overspill when gas station pump reaches auto shut-off. After fuel tank replaced, gas station pump cuts out every gallon to gallon & a half when attempting to fill tank.
Gas has started overflowing/spraying out when filling up. Pump stops and seconds later it happens. The first time it happened it sprayed some fuel on one of my boys who was standing by me. Thankfully, it didn't get in his eye. I first thought it was the pump but since realized its the vehicle. This seems to be fairly common issue and I have seen the two recalls on this due to the tanks inlet check valves not shutting properly. The recalls cover vehicles made through Nov. 04. My Durango was made Dec 04 so Dodge won't touch it.
While filling gas tank the auto stop on the pump will kick off. After a few seconds fuel will begin to flow out of the tank. Tried to stop the pump on my own and still continues to do it. Sounds like the same recall they had on the 2005 Durangos.

I filled up gas tank on 2008 Dodge Durango using the auto lock on gas pump handle. When tank was filled and handle clicked gas began to spew out of the filler tube before I could remove gas pump handle. Total spillage was less than half a gal.
