This vehicle has the same problem regarding the wireless ignition module (wim) problems as the 2008 - 2012 of same models. My wife was driving this car with all four of our children while we are here in germany (active duty us air force) 2017 and the engine died with no warning/indicators. I was not in the vehicle so I though maybe she hit the ignition and it cut out. At that point we swapped vehicles and I have been using this car as my primary vehicle for driving back and forth to work 2017 - 2021. I am a aircraft mechanic with over 23 years of maintenance experience on multiple different airframes. I have personally witnessed the engine cutting out while driving no less than 20 times since (4/25/2021). I have been able to put the van in neutral and immediately restart the engine (while I am driving and this happens). This happens at slow speeds (residential area with children playing in streets, high speeds (while on the autobahn), during turns (driving on hilly curved roads luckily I haven't exited the roadway yet!), braking (at stop lights), while parallel parking; power brakes stop operating, power steering stops operating, gas pedal stops responding to input - all due to the engine that stops operating. What I believe now due to the wireless ignition module going from on position to accy a malfunction with in the wim. It's like someone just killed the engine, but all lights, radio, everything else electrical still operates perfectly. Mileage 135,000 miles there are no indicators that the engine has ceased to operate except that the rpms are at 0 (even at idle rpms should be around 1,000 rpms). No other indicator light illuminates. Connected obd2, no codes, I even drive with a blue driver attached and when it has happened there are no codes recorded. These cars are hazards on the roads and it is shameful Dodge will not admit their mistake!.

2015-2020 on approximately 45 occassions the fuel pump continues running after ignition shut-off. It then drains the battery which requires jump starting to keep from being stranded. 2015-2020 on multiple occassions (approximately 4 times)the fuel pump will not kick on at all leaving vehicle and driver/family stranded. 2020 3 times while driving the van just shut off. This has been going on for 6 years and now will not start at all. Researched and had it tested. It is the tipm. Totally integrated power module. This has been recalled in both Dodge durango and the Jeep. Many Dodge caravans have the same problem. *refusal to recall due to undocumented complaints and requests is a failure to public safety. A quick internet search of issues regarding the tpim im Dodge Grand Caravans is proof enough to show that the fault lies as significantly with these vehicles as the durangos and jeeps. *** a new investigation should be conducted. I have sustained injuries in my neck and shoulders as a disabled person by having to raise and drop my hood to disconnect my battery terminal everywhere the vehicle sits on every occassion possible for 6 years to avoid intermittent battery drain and being stranded with my two young children. Is a gross disservice to consumers and public safety that this model has yet to be included in the tpim recall.

It started with my vehicle not starting intermittently. As the problem got worse at first we thought it may be the fuel pump. After extensive searching it was revealed to be a faulty tipm module that causes issues with the fuel system. I contacted Dodge and they validated that they are aware of the problem. There has been recalls listed for most vehicles with this same module, however not for the Dodge Grand Caravan, I do not understand why. The issue has now escalated. While driving in the pitch dark to work the vehicle started acting funny, then all power shut off, steering locked, fob locked in ignition, no lights, no blinkers, right in the middle of the road while driving. I had just dropped off my son so glad he wasn't with me. It seems the problem all goes back to the tipm which has been draining my battery and causing other electrical issues. This is a safety hazard. I contacted Dodge and they refuse to do anything to help because my vehicle is "outside the warranty". I explained how this problem doesn't even start until approx. 70,000 miles(I'm currently at 60,000). Beyond that the warrant y was expired when I purchased it used from the Dodge dealer 3 years ago. I've contacted Dodge numerous times and no one of any stature will even talk to me since the caseworker called the case "closed" based on the warranty. I think this is immoral on the part of Dodge being that this has been a persistent problem with theses modules that goes as far back as 2010, yet they continued to use it. I purchased this vehicle so my wife can move my child around safely, and am scared to even let her drive it. At the moment no one is driving it because it died on the road and smells like the electrical system was burning. I am currently looking for a way to fix this issue. The estimated cost of repair is around $2,000. 00.

There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to cullman Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (300 benchmark way, cullman, al, (256) 615-2563) where it was diagnosed that the wireless ignition module needed to be replaced. The repair would cost approximately $900; therefore, the contact declined the repair. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was 100,300.
Mileage: 100,000 the engine will cut out while driving. Dash lights will flash, warning chime will beep, and the vehicle will rev and lurch forward before dying. This leaves the car at a coast. When the vehicle is brought to a stop, it restarts without a problem. Has happened in cold and warm weather alike. . Has happened while coasting, braking, and accelerating. Most stalls have been while driving straight in the city. No highways stalls to date . Cause: unkown; we have not been able to reproduce the event reliably, though it now occurs with some frequency (e. G. Driving more than 20 min). I suspect the power control module (pcm) or the ignition switch somehow moving between on and accessory modes. Available data: issues similar to this one can be found on forums, it does not seem that many have been able to resolve the problem, despite replace the computer and alternator.

While parked in driveway, the horn started blowing erratically, headlights were on, and front and rear windshield wipers and washers operating. Door locks would not respond to remote. After s short period of trying to unlock the doors with the remote, they either responded to the remote or unlocked by themselves. At that point I attempted to turn the ignition on and start the vehicle. I started it and then turned it off but that did not stop the horn, wipers, etc. A few seconds after shutting the ignition off, everything stopped. Front and rear wipers did not return to park position until I manually turned them on and off. I started the engine again and had a check engine light with error codes related to the tcm, transmission control module. In addition, while driving, the heater blower motor intermittently stops working. All of this appears to be the result of a faulty tipm,totally integrated power module. This has happened twice in the last two weeks. First occurrence was 1/11/18 and second occurrence was 1/16/18. Searching online revealed that mine is not an isolated problem as there are many reported instances of tipm failures with similar symptoms.

As previously occurred, Chrysler concealed a known safety defect from its customers and then refused to help with repairs. The defective component is called the totally integrated power module (or tipm). The tipm consists of a computer, fuses, and internal relays, and is responsible for controlling and distributing electrical power to the entire vehicle�everything from steering and brakes, to the alarm, headlights, and the fuel pump. Since the tipm controls power to a wide variety of essential vehicle systems, including safety and security systems, the defect often leaves the vehicles incapable of providing reliable or safe transportation. Many class vehicles fail to start (or take dozens of attempts before the engine will turn over) because of the defect, and vehicles start up at other times only to stall, sometimes while traveling at high speeds. Vehicles also continue running without the key in ignition. The tipm defect has caused headlights and taillights to suddenly shut off. It has also caused horns to honk, car alarms to sound, and windshield wipers to activate all on their own. The tipm has also caused airbags to not deploy in some scenarios.

Driving at 10-20 mph, warning lights esp abr and tracing icon flash on and off before engine stalls, happens whether turning, or driving straight. Electrical system fails including power steering, radio flashes off, clock goes to 12:00. Often at speeds 35 -65 mph, same lights flash on and off 10 to 15 times in various distances of 3 miles - 25 miles before stalling, driving down a winding, mountain road in heavy traffic at night at speeds between 60-70mph, same lights flashed on and off, the speedometer needle instantly dropped down to zero then quickly flipped up to current speed each time lights flashed, then they stayed on while I pulled off the road, it stalled in park position. Starts up again without hesitation. Once I went 3 miles without incident, upon returning while at a stop light, same warning lights flashed, when the light turned green, engine stalled. I restarted the engine and I was able to proceed through the green light making a left turn, no other stall the rest of the way home. Regardless if I'm turning left or right, going up hill or down hill or on city street, whether the engine is cold or hot or temperature outside is hot, cold, or raining. It is random, having purchased this used vehicle only 4 months ago, driven less than 1000 miles, I don't feel safe as a female senior citizen traveling alone any distance in this vehicle, previous owner had the dealer replace fuel pump and computer (twice). I have replaced the 1 year old battery due to a hot to the touch cable to the battery, not generating the proper amount of power, also replaced the original computer with a new computer which did not resolve this issue. Numerous complaints were told a win or tipm module would fix this problem which it didn't. 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan recall: ignition replacement. While driving the car, the engine shuts off unexpectedly and we lose power steering and brakes. We have to coast to a stop, put it back in park and restart engine and proceed. This happens with no predictability which makes this dangerous. The times that it has happened, the roads have been wet or snow covered. It has also happened on dry roads. Traveling at a high rate of speed makes this a dangerous circumstance. Since it is unpredictable, we are very nervous to take this car on a highway. We have had the car in to shapiro leon motor sales several times and they cannot find anything that comes up on their diagnostics. They did replace the powertrain control module. This did not make a difference. It continued to shut down. There is no rhyme or reason. They have driven it but it did not shut down for them. I got it inane shortly after leaving , it shut down. We know that there was a recall on the ignition switch through June 2010 but our car was manufactured sept 2010. However all the symptoms that are listed on that recall fit our van's problem perfectly. The dealership does not agree a per their testing. This is not something that we can have happen to us while traveling 65 down the interstate. The only thing that shows up on the dash is the traction control when we lose engine power. Please address this problem.
In reference to recall 11v-139, the wireless ignition module, (win), in this vehicle has exhibited symptoms of early failure and eventual permanent failure. It would allow the fobik to release into the accessory position, resulting in the cessation of movement and other vehicle functions on multiple occasions. In response, last year, Chrysler noted that parts are back ordered and only vehicles rendered inoperable or dangerously impaired were currently being serviced. This situation has not improved, the win module has compounded its dysfunction over the course of the preceding year. The win module will no longer recognize either fobik, and only the odometer will light up when a fobik is put in run position, rendering the vehicle inoperable. The win module design is prone to failure beyond releasing the fobik, it may also eventually fail to recognize it, perhaps as a symptom on constant disconnection or deeply flawed design. The situation with the backlog of repairs also appears to be worsening: fca us representatives have acknowledged that the back order of part 68241076ac may be as much as four weeks, even for a vehicle now rendered inoperable. I request that the recall be extended further still, to include permanent or persistent failure of these modules. Such a condition granting eligibility for the consumer to receive a rental vehicle for the duration of the repair, and a reexamination of the module design for the cause and probability of permanent failure.
The van engine shuts down while in drive. This has happened 4 times with in a week. It has shut down completely at an intersection. Even the hazards would not come on to show other drivers that I was broke down. I received a notice last year about a recall for the ignition module and I was put an a long wait list to have it fixed. On January 3, 2016 I had the recall taken care of at sherwood service in salisbury, MD. I have never had the engine failure happen before having the recall fixed, and now, it is happening. When the engine shut down the last time, my husband who was driving had to call the police to direct traffic around the van until the tow truck got there so he would not be hit! it blocked an intersection for 30 minutes until the van was towed away, when the van got home on the tow truck, it started up with no problem. Every time this has happened, the van has been in gear and driving when it completely shuts down and it has either gone over a small bump or been turning. I would also like to add that I had an appointment with sherwood Chrysler in salisbury, MD today(3/22/21) and they said that they could not find anything wrong with my van and tried send my husband home in the van without fixing the problem! he insisted that they drive it (which they would not do today) to see if it happened again. They still have my van.
While driving home, a burning smell came from the air vents after turning on the heater. Immediately shut off the heater and pulled over to check the vehicle. Turned the car off lifted the hood. Performed visual inspection nothing noted, slight burning smell but no indication of anything out of place. Restarted the car and continued home using hazards and minimal speed. After four minutes dash indicator of battery came on immediately going out and the lightning bolt appeared. This was followed by abs, traction control, airbags and check engine light illuminating. Odometer flat lined even though car was still running. Then the entire car died while doing forty mph. Power steering and brakes went stiff. I was able to turn into a parking lot and turned off ignition. Checked under hood again nothing wrong visually. Contacted insurance company for a tow to neatest dealership. The next day received call from dealership saying the alternator(160 amp) was completely fried and had a blown cell in the battery which was only 15 months old. Dealership quoted $1100. 00 repair price and was still unsure if any other systems had been affected. Would not be able to determine until new battery and alternator had been replaced. In September of 2014 replaced the tipm( totally integrated power module) after multiple starting failures and continually running fuel pump had been found, and now 18 months later my alternator fails with no warning or indications. In addition the same alternator is listed under a Chrysler defect number p60, however Chrysler informed me because my car is not on the list it doesn't apply.

Earlier 2008 to 2010 Chrysler town & country and Dodge Grand Caravans were experiencing an ignition problem with the (win) wireless ignition node module recall #14v-373, Chrysler #r03. We noticed that an extra fobik could not be programmed on these vehicles because of a failure in the (win). These affected models were replaced under this recall. I now have a 2012 Grand Caravan that also has a non-responsive (win) (extra fobik can not be programmed) and will need to be replaced; however, this is nearly an identical unit to the 2008-2010 models and this is the same thing we experienced with the module loosing its communication. I suspect that it is a precursor to the same issue (win failure) and Chrysler needs to replace these newer units as well. A complete failure of the ignition module could shut the vehicle off when it is going down the road. This problem they are having with newer ignition modules appears to be very similar to the earlier model. Its a potential hazard and an expensive fix that people could put off (don't have to program an extra fobik) and later have a bigger issues with a (win) failure that causes an engine shut-off condition going down the road.
Wireless ignition node module recall r03/NHTSA 14v-373 according to the recall notice, my van may suddenly turn itself off while I am driving. I have registered for service and been on the waiting list for parts for six months. The dealership says that the manufacturer is not sending the parts and they have no idea when the parts may become available. I have not yet been in an accident caused by this recalled part (wireless ignition node module).
I was informed in approximately 2013 or 2014 of a safety recall regarding the wireless ignition module and key fob. I received additional notification that parts were ready in early 2015 regarding this recall. I have tried to schedule service for this recall with three separate dealers numerous times. I have been told it is unknown when parts will be ready. I have had the vehicle turn off due to this issue. The Dodge paperwork states they are concerned with my safety. And the recall should be complete in a reasonable amount of time. It has now been years since notification, and nearly a year since parts have been "ready" and the recall still isn't complete. According to Dodge statistics, as of oct 26, 2015, only 192,616 of 724,503 vehicles have been completed. This is not in a reasonable time and I feel as if Dodge is slow rolling this recall to save themselves money. This recall is similar to a 2010 recall.
I was sent a notice of "important safety recall" by fiat Chrysler automobiles regarding my vehicle's wireless ignition node module; ref: r03/NHTSA 14v-373. This was issued in October, 2014; I received the notice some months later. Despite several calls to my local Dodge Chrysler dealer, I have been unable to have this safety hazard repaired. Every call to rairdon's Chrysler Jeep Dodge of bellingham, wa has resulted in the same answer: "we don't have the parts and have no idea when we will get them. " as directed by the recall notice in the case that my dealer "fails or is unable to remedy this defect. . . Within a reasonable time," I am contacting you for assistance. Fiat Chrysler automobiles notified me in a timely manner about this hazard, but the local dealer appears not to be concerned about it. I thank you in advance for any assistance that you may be able to provide. Please note that my vehicle has so far not appeared to suffer the unintended engine shut off described in the recall.
On September 25, 2015, the battery light came on while travelling from canada to USA at night time with my wife and two young children. Because I carry a vehicle scanner with me, I pulled over at a rest stop and checked the voltage sense pid. It showed 12. 5v. Thought that was acceptable and continued driving. Aproximately 400 miles later, vehicle exhibited sudden loss of momentum while in cruise control at 72mph, as I pressed on the accelarator, vehicle downshifted and rpms rose to 4500, however vehicle slowed even more and I had to take evasive action to get to right shoulder. Vehicle went from approx 72mph in cruise control to 40mph in a matter of few seconds while I was trying to accelarate to safely get vehicle from left lane on I-495 s to right shoulder. I again plugged in my scanner and had code p0622 show up. At this time, control module voltage sense was reading 11v. After erasing the code and multiple ignition key cycling attempts, the vehicle started up, and everything seemed fine, battery light went out and voltage was again at 12. 5 v, and climbing. We made it to our destination (taunton, MA) and everything seemed normal over the course of the weekend. On September 28, while we were travelling back to canada, within 40 miles of leaving taunton, the battery light came on again, but very shortly after the vehicle lost power again, and had to scramble to get vehicle pulled over to the shoulder of the highway (I-495 n). And is unable to restart. I called fca road side assistance, and they sent a tow truck. The vehicle is currently at dan's Dodge Chrysler Jeep in westboro, MA, USA awaiting diagnostic.

In regards to the safety recall of the wireless ignition node module. After contacting the dealer where we purchased the vehicle to make an appointment, we were informed that they would only replace 2 of the fobiks that we had. We had purchased an additional 2 fobiks from this dealership in the past, which according to the recall should have also been replaced. After arguing and reading the recall notice over the phone to the representatives at the dealer they agreed that they would reprogram our additional fobiks but not replace them. Upon showing up for my appointment on August 3, 2015, I mentioned that the additional fobiks in my possession should also be replaced whereas they said that only the 2 would be replaced according to their service manager. I did not argue any further with them because I am done with this dealership, I have had nothing but problems with their service department. Reading and following a recall notice should be a very simple process. We will never purchase or get service at fury motors of st. Paul or any of its affiliates in the future.

Our 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan would not start and locked the key in the ignition. We had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership. Was told the problem was ignition module and it was replaced at a cost of over $700. 00 dollars. The vehicle was driven home and when we tried to go somewhere the next day, the battery was dead and the key locked up in the ignition again. The vehicle was jump started and we took it back to the dealership where it sat for almost 2 weeks. We were told that they were able to crank the vehicle everyday with no problem. We went and picked the vehicle up and drove home. (we live almost 3 hours away). Next day same thing happened and now we are having to take the vehicle back for a 3rd time.

I have received three notices from Chrysler regarding the wireless ignition node module. One was telling me the replacement part for recall number one had been recalled. The dealer is suppose to call me when a part comes in. Should I be concerned this is taking so long?.
