13 Ignition problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 09/06/2012

Prior to 9/6/2012, engine light came on for what the dealer said no reason. Then on 9/6/2012, van broke and would not start. It appeared as if stuck in all gears and I was told this was an electrical problem. There is a recall on this type/year of van for electrical problems, recall #11v139000;however, no recall shows up for my van VIN #. I don't feel this vehicle is safe. The dealer has had my vehicle for a week now along with another one same make and model/year that they are having the same issue. There is a definite problem with this model vehicle. My vehicle is still not repaired or exact problem diagnosed. Yet, they expect me to drive it again when I get it back. These electrical issues need to be further evaluated. Yes my van was in a parking lot but that was lucky. Please look into this further. The dealer don't even understand the problem on these 2 Grand Caravans per our last conversation we had today.

14 Ignition problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 07/05/2012

After approximately 30 minutes of operation at 50mph my entire dash light warning system light up & then went dark. The vehicle engine died. As I was slowly coasting to a stop, the lights & vehicle spontaneously came back on & resumed normal operation. A check of the diagnostic codes recorded no incident & I cannot recreate the failure. About 2 weeks after that incident, I started my engine, began to reverse out of a parking spot, when the a/c unit stopped blowing & lights went out, clock & dash went dark. I pulled back into the spot, parked, turned off the ignition & restarted the vehicle, and the a/c, radio, panel has worked fine ever since. Still no codes reported during a diagnostic. Someone is going to get killed driving the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan! all the while, the manufacture denies that there is a problem with their vehicles. I purchased this vehicle new, this isn't the first time I've had problems with this vehicle. I am fastidious about service & maintenance of my vehicle, and have the receipts to prove it.

15 Ignition problem of the 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 06/02/2012

Rear passenger wheel gets extremely hot while driving. It appears that the caliper may be locking up. The rear wheel on the driver side also makes a high pitched whine, which is intermittent and usually goes away by tapping the brake pedal. We took it to the dealer and they said we needed a rear brake job. However, I believe this is due to defective calipers which are not releasing the pads from the rotors. The rear brakes on every car I have owned always last significantly longer than the front. The fact that the rear pads are worn excessively while front are not indicates a defect in the rear brake assembly. The ignition was repaired as part of a recall. However, after starting the car, the key does not return to the "on" position. This allows the car to run and be driven, however none of my lights or directionals work. I can wiggle the key to get it into the correct position, but sometimes it is not obvious that the key is in the wrong position. This results in me driving without headlights in the rain and thinking that I am signaling properly in turns when in fact everything is off.

The same problem occurred with two different bulbs. When the ignition is off, I can turn on the headlights, but the left light has a slight delay turning on. When I turn the ignition on, the left headlight goes out. I cannot find any relays or fuses for the headlights. Two mechanics have looked at the problem, and have not been able to fix it. Power door locks failure!!! this problem started a month ago when the power-locks just quit working. So I followed the instructions in the car manual where you can reprogram the locks by switching the ignition key 4 times ending in the off position and then after 10 seconds turn the door lock on, a chime will sound, it did but locks still do not work. I thought it might be a fuse so I removed the iod fuse and put it back in 5 sec. The locks started to work again. This lasted about 2 or 3 times and then the problem seems to return eventually. This is a safety concern and the vehicle should be a recall. Dodge should be accountable for this and made to correct the problem.

33 Ignition problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/28/2009

About one week ago I got back from buying groceries, and when I parked, got out and was going close the door, I heard the warning sound. The same sound that rings when you leave your keys in the ignition or the headlights on, but I had the keys in my hand and the lights were all off. From then on the power locks will not unlock or lock by either the remote or the door switch. I read online that removing the iod fuse for 5 seconds and replacing it would work, and it did, but many on the online forum also said this was temporary and that it would happen again. I'm sure thousands of people have complained, please make this a recall. :(.

34 Ignition problem of the 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 03/25/2009

I purchased my van in March of 2009 from lee Chrysler. It was a one owner with some warranty left on it. A week or two, maybe less my husband and I had problems with the keyless entry keys not opening the van. After several trips to the dealership that problem was resolved. From that time on, every few months there was another problem. I have all the documentation, as to when all the work was done and what. When I purchased the van the previous owners had already replaced the brakes and starter. I found this out when I had to replace the brakes October 2011 and the starter in the spring of 2012. Since these items were under warranty in 2008, the first time they were replaced, I think it was the dealerships place to tell me that this work had been done. In July 2013 the ignition stopped working and I had to have it replaced. Lee Chrysler doesn't have cars to loan, I had to rent one at my expense. They ordered and repaired the ignition, then my keys would not program to the new ignition, so I had to wait, paying for the rental another 3 days for them to order new keys, at my expense. The company should have know that old keys, the type I have, would not program to a new ignition. This is just the things that I have receipts for. The recalls I don't have all of them, but you have that list. I think since the company sold me a bad van in the beginning that they should help me get into a vehicle I could afford to replace this one. Ok I know you say why didn't I contact you or someone before now. I did write to Chrysler CO. In 2010 and they said they were sorry I was unhappy with my van, but there wasn't anything they could do. I also sent them a e-mail. They will not do anything, my van only has 70,000 miles on it. Thank you for your time.

35 Ignition problem of the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

Failure Date: 12/24/2008

The power door locks on our 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt stopped working, including the auto-lock feature when the vehicle hits 20 mph. The internal power locks did not work and using the remote to lock or unlock the vehicle also did not work. The internal auto side door opener mounted with the information center did not work as well as the chimes that sound when the key is in the ignition and the driver's door is open. After searching the internet, I found that pulling the oid fuse for 5 seconds had worked for a large number of other people who all have encountered this problem. Pulling and reinserting the fuse has corrected the problem for the time being. . Read more...
