The air bag light remains on. I was told that it is responsible for the driver's side air bag. It was formally documented on February 25th, 2023 by firestone on king st. In northampton, MA 01035. It has been brought to lia Dodge king street in northampton, MA 01060. They told me the wiring part to repair this is on backorder and not available until August 2023 and not guaranteed to be available. In addition, I was told it would cost $900. 00 to install. I was told this by multiple people including Chrysler Dodge customer service. I was told a new part is in development and not ready until August 2023. If this is in fact, true, then this is a huge safety risk for all 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan driver's who have the air bag light on and may or may not have a working air bag. This is a huge safety issue. Additionally, I was told that the part is a "wiring harness" part#68531685aa and it would cost $900. 00 to install. On the mopar site, it is just the jumper wire sensor" part# 68531685aa and is $45. 00 plus $20. 00 shipping!!!! I was also told by Chrysler Dodge customer service that a Dodge dealer can install the part after I buy the part on mopar. Com and lia Dodge told me they could not. My car has been rejected following a failed inspection for the airbag light and also the rusted clamp that is holding the exhaust pipes together and co2 is backing up into the cabin. In addition to the sensor jumper wire part# 98531685aa, the vehicle should also be recalled for the part# 4578916ab the exhaust clamp that is rusted and falling off causing co2 to back up into the cabin according to both lia Dodge and auto express in hadley, MA 01035. The vehicle is off the road and not able to be repaired or inspected as it is illegal to drive until it is inspected. Please confirm the above information regarding the parts and start a recall so I can have these problems fixed or reimbursed by Dodge the manufacturer, as they should be by the manufacturer. The vehicle only has 70,000 miles.

Bought the van in December of 2019. A few months ago I noticed that the van wasn't accelerating/shifting when going up hills. It delayed started one night and I had to shit if off and restart it. My front a/c stopped working and kicks on randomly. The doors don't automatically lock until a few minutes after being put into drive. Back right door doesn't lock. Recently took it to my mechanic and was informed that there is burnt wiring and possible plugged cad. Converter.

At power outlet the wiring harness rubs on the frame and caused the connector to get hot and melt the connector, wiring and melts the carpet it is a fire hazard.
My vehicle was at jeff wyler Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep in batavia, ohio for a week plus a few days. In all of that time that this vehicle was having its transmission issues diagnosed and inspected, the service department failed to address the open recall of NHTSA recall #17v-376, fca recall #t33 for the steering wheel wiring. The dealership knows about open recalls and, yet failed to perform the repairs on this vehicle. Instead, it allowed my vehicle to be towed from its lot back to my home address, despite knowing that it failed to address the recall. Dodge customer care representatives informed me of this recall while I was on the phone with them and still the dealership did not even make mention of this. They failed to repair the potentially dangerous or fatal issues with the vehicle and Dodge failed to ensure that the vehicle recall was completed during all of my conversations with Dodge and Dodge executive office personnel.

The driver side rear sliding door is unresponsive. The door doesn't open or close manually, with the power button, or with the key fob. All the other doors work as they are supposed to. When the button on the fob is pressed, the vehicle lights flash, acknowledging the command, however nothing happens. The vehicle was parked at my home, and while trying to load my infant children into their careers, we discovered the door was inoperable. The problem is not with a fuse, because the passenger slider is on the same fuse and works fine. I can't open the door to inspect the wiring harnesses; but it would have to be a poorly designed wiring harness or problem with the actuator. If my vehicle were in an accident, I would be unable to free my children from the vehicle.

The 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan left hand side wiring loom wears on an aluminum obtrusion beneath where it lies. This causes the wire's shielding to be worn off and causes shorting. The engine will die when the wire contacts metal or each other during travel. This problem will cause the engine to die at road speeds leaving the vehicle without steering, brakes, and other safety related equipment. I believe this to be common and undetected because the wear point is on the underside of the wiring loom near the engine. The harness is hard to lift and inspect because of the location and lack of slack at the point of the obtrusion. Vibration causes the short, the vehicle will normally start after coming to a stop when there is no friction between the worn wires. I believe this should be reviewed and analyzed for a recall because of the safety issue involved as others have stated but are unaware of the cause. I have added additional wrapping to limp my vehicle home during a three hour trip. Additionally, this form would not let me select steering, brakes, or other safety features when I selected electrical, which is specifically what causes the safety issues.

Sliding doors have had numerous issues that cause the doors to lock up and fail. I have had 3 issues in under 5 years with both sliding doors locking up and failing requiring electrical work to be done to correct the problem. My vehicle has just about 50k miles and has had 3 failures with the door latches not opening. This issue needs to be looked at as a severe issue in cases of safety because both my doors do not open and this vehicle is gently used for a 10 year old vehicle. Another issue with the sliding door is the harnesses that are installed from the factory. They fail and the wiring breaks over 1 to 2 years. This is an issue that happens way to often.

On 01/28/2019,, after I opened the hood to exam the power/train and other components under the hood. I immediately noticed three wires and a yellow fuse attached to my battery/ I immediately asked "timmy" what these were and why is the engine so loud? he stated that he did not know. I asked, "may I speak to the tech that installed my transmission?" he replied, "I'm really busy. . " he walked away while I was asking him questions, without any explanation or repairs. The Dodge dealer installed aftermarket wiring and a fuse on my vehicle without my permission and refused to tell me what it controls and why it is needed. "timmy" also stated to me the loud rumbling noises were normal. I informed him, that is not how my car sounded prior to the transmission failing.

While at a stop light, another driver told us the van's tail light was smoking. We pulled around a corner and into a parking lot and found that the passenger tail light assembly was on fire with flames lapping up the side of the van. The van was turned off and the fire was extinguished. We removed the tail light assembly and found that the inside of the assembly and the wiring harness were destroyed. There is also body damage. We have had problems with the brake light bulb in the passenger side burning out frequently, and had seen evidence of overheating and some melting in the brake light connector socket in about 2010. Although the lights burn out frequently, the melting had not gotten worse since then. The driver's side tail light has never exhibited a problem like this. At this time it is unknown if there is any damage or fault in the electrical system beyond the tail light assembly. A rough estimate of obvious damages is approximately $1,000 to $1,500 with repainting.

Tipm issue just recently bought a 2011 Grand Caravan with 107000 miles on it. It began having issues with intermitten starting and the side doors would open while parked. After some quick research I read about the tipm issue that is well known. I found a dealer selling the recall kit used on these, cbwpr091aa - wiring - fuel pump relay. I installed the fuel pump relay and all is better now. I just hope there is not more to this issue.
This vehicle has had several electrical component failures that were premature and unexplained. Computer module replaced twice, sensors replaced before they should have gone bad. We also were experiencing small electrical issues all over the vehicle, problems with windows, slide doors, accessories, radio etc. After inspection of the electrical system a problem was observed with two of the main wiring harnesses for engine components, one was routed over the top of the radiator hose where it attaches to the top of the motor allowing excessive heat to melt the wire protection sleeves and wire coating which caused contact of wires exposed. Another section of wiring routed down from the main fuse box and rested on top of the transmission cover resulting in overheating of the wires. These two issues caused excessive heating of the wiring to effect the current flow to and from the main wire port for all electrical components of the vehicle and resulted in system malfunctions everywhere. This is a poor design by the manufacturer and a serious safety concern. I would want anyone with the same vehicle to know this is probably the result of numerous electrical component failures or problems they are experiencing that may lead to excessive repairs that are not necessary if the wiring is routed in a better way to avoid overheating.
Took my van into jeff wyler eastgate auto mall, in batavia, OH 45103, to have the two recalls fixed on my van and when I call to check up on the progress I get told that the tipm needs replaced and they are wanting to charge me $1,337. 60 to fix it before they will even be able to fix my recalls. Both recalls are the ignition and the air bags, both of which are caused by the faulty tipm. So what are they repairing and replacing on my recalls knowing that the tipm is the main reason my van has recalls to begin with. The recall for my air bags is as follows: the airbags will either deploy at will or not deploy at all. The letter I got informing me of my recalls stated that it could be in the wiring harness or other places connecting my van to the airbags. The recall for my ignition is as follows: the airbags will either deploy at will or not deploy at all. The letter I got informing me of my recalls stated that it could be in the wiring harness or other places connecting my van to the ignition.

Passenger side rear door electrical harness appears to have shorted and melted the interior. Similar to 10v235000 recall. This VIN is not covered by that recall but is from the same year. Possible catastrophic fire could result if plastic reached specific temperature to alight. Burning plastic smell was noted during 4 hour drive. Headache and mild nausea resulted from the smell. Smell reminded owner of burned wiring in the lab.
The wiring inside of the power sliding door caught fire with out being used. It was the door on the drivers side. The vehicle had just been driven and parked for approx 10 min when the fire was noticed due to the smell.
The black casing around the wiring in the sliding doors broke off leaving exposed wiring.
My airbag light would come on and go off randomly. I took it back to my dealer and it was stated that it was an issue with in the wiring but not an issue with the airbag. Now my airbag light has been on for over a month. I checked recalls and see there is a recall on 2011-2012 Dodge Grand Caravans for the driver side airbag randomly deploying yet nothing for my VIN. I drive my children around in this vehicle and if the driver side or either side was to randomly deploy. . . . This is a catastrophe waiting to happen!!!.
Dodge dealership finally diagnosed my faulty tipm in my 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. I bought the vehicle new and started having starting issues while parked at about 15k miles all the way up to present mileage of 70k miles. Originally when the key was turned in the ignition I would get nothing, just a very quick half turn of the motor (no true cranking). This strange electrical short would self resolve after 15 minutes and then caravan would startup. This issue progressively became more frequent as the miles were added racked up on the vehicle. Now at 70k miles the caravan will only crank but not start up. When it does start it will stutter and then stall out. Eventually I will be able to get it to start but it will feel hesitant at times while driving it. This hard start has been occurring almost time I try to drive the vehicle now. The dealership was finally able to replicate it now at 70k miles (because it is a guaranteed to occur) as opposed to when it was very intermittent and unpredictable. Of course now that I'm out of warranty it will cost me $1400 for a new tipm or the other option proposed is to cut my electrical wiring and solder a standalone relay to bypass the internal relay inside the faulty tipm at a rate of $500. As evidenced by internet research, this issue is rampant across the Chrysler/Dodge product line and I'm surprised that this is not a voluntary recall already. I see that it is in litigation at the moment as a class action lawsuit.
I had an electrical fire in my 2014 caravan, the fire started in the area of the tipm module and burned up a wiring harness in close proximity to the tipm module as well. The fire started while we were driving the vehicle. I recently found a defect investigation to do with 2008-2014 Chrysler town and country and Dodge Grand Caravan tipm modules the NHTSA action number was dpi4004 and also stated other various issues including the failure of the instrument panel. We also had the instrument panel shut down while driving a while back, but everything came back on and this incident hasn't happened again. I am concerned with the safety of the vehicle and wanted to make people aware of the issues I have had. It seems really fishy that there was a previous investigation into the tipm module, and that two of the incidents that I have experienced are called out in the report mentioned above.
Takata recall, my can has had some serious safety electrical issues for quite some time now. I've had many dangerous situations. With this can one thing after the next. I'm not sure exactly the problem but something the power control modual or wiring harness is not ok. The radiator fans didn't work as well as the power controls windows, heat,ac,radio, and the wipers ect. There is sparking coming from the car. Wires had started to catch fire. As well as the car overheating.

Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph most of the warning indicators including the radio lights started flashing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the diagnosis was the wiring harness was faulty and needed replacement. The vehicle was driven to the dealer for a second opinion the diagnosis was that the total integrated power module and an independent driver side module needed replacement. The vehicle is currently been repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,466. Bp.
Van would crank but would not start. After several attempts it started but ran erratic. After driving van for ~20 minutes van began to hesitate while driving at 55 mph on a state highway. I researched problem on internet and noticed other with a similar problem. I also noticed Chrysler announced a recall on 2011 Dodge durango and Jeep grand cherokee suvs for a very similar problem but not for the Grand Caravan. The root cause of the problem appears to be the fuel pump relay in the tipm. I discussed the problem with my local Chrysler dealership and the service adviser indicated that he was aware of the recall and had also seen the similar issue on vans. The dealership bypassed the relay using mopar part cbwpr091aa wiring - fuel pump relay. Part was $18. 88 and total bill with labor was $176. 00. The van appears to be operating normally at this time.
The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. While parked, the vehicle became engulfed in flames without warning. The contact was notified of the incident by the fire marshall, who later determined that the failure occurred due to a defective wiring harness. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to a salvage yard and destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.

The harness on both driver and passenger side started coming apart and the wiring pop and now it's causing no lighting in the car windshield wipers keep going, can't let down windows, no ac, no radio.
2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Consumer writes in regards to recall notice regarding ignition switch. The consumer also stated the recall repair, that was performed on the door, did not rectify the problem. The door is still inoperative.
Engine started missing, vibrations from engine. Diagnosis electrical fault. Wiring harness brittle form harness being placed on, over and next, snaked around exhaust manifold, causing premature wiring failure. Fuel injector wiring harness unshielded in side of intake manifold / plenum. Wiring harness poorly shielded. This is a deliberate, intentional design / engineering to snake wiring harness around exhaust manifold. Causing wiring harness failure. Using sub-standard wiring components and not using shielding to cause pre-mature failure. Installing pcm (computer) in wheel well for pre-mature failure exposed to salt, road debris, water, etc. Pcm installed in open area of vehicle prone to failure. Consequential safety issues.

I activated the passenger side automatic sliding door. There was a pop and a flash indicative of an electrical short and the door no longer opened or closed automatically. I inspected the wires and found that two wires were broken and possibly made contact with each other, causing an electrical short. The vehicle was inside my garage at the time and no one was inside. However, this is a dangerous situation should the vehicle catch fire because of the flimsy wiring on the doors. The driver side door stopped working two days later, but with no pop or flash. I noticed several other vehicles had the same problem, and there are several documented cases of the same problem throughout the web.
The ac drain leaks water under the dash when the ac is on and may affect the air bag wiring or other electrical functions. This problem was identified in 2011, bulletin k31, but my VIN was not included. I have the same make, model, year and problem as the recalled cars. Why is my car not included in this recall?? I have struggled with this recurring issue since 2014!!!.
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, the contact attempted to close the driver's window when it became stuck and smoke started to emit inside of the vehicle. The entire instrument panel illuminated, the windshield wiper activated, and the two front windows opened independently. The contact who was a certified mechanic and inspected the vehicle. The contact found the wiring harness had broken wires. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.
While attempting to operate the electric sliding side door, a large spark and small debris fire was seen in the bottom door rail. Upon inspection, a break in the wire harness had aloud wires to be severed that controls the door and locking system. The automatic door locks on both side doors no longer worked and the passenger side door would no longer open electrically. I removed the wiring harness and wires and discarded them to avoid any more problems (sparking and/or fires). This could cause a major fire hazard in the right environment.
My sliding door quit working half way thru cycle. My power went dead in doors and locks I took it to the Dodge dealer they could not find the problem said it was either the ecm or the bcm but not sure. They did not want to replace as they would just burn out again if this was the problem and still a short somewhere it was safe to drive. I drove it home and next day went to start it and the main wiring harness under the battery and above the drivers side wheel well burst into flames burning the entire main electrical harness and ecm and fuse box up. Took it by tow truck to Dodge dealer again they said looks like wiring harness was worn through where it was fastened to the frame at the assembly plant. Called Dodge and they said this has happened before suppose to send an inspector and no one showed up it has been over a week and no help from Dodge or the dealer who told me it was safe to drive. I received a letter from Chrysler stating it was not a manufacturer defect yeah right!!.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while he attempted to start the engine, smoke emitted under the hood. The main wiring harness was on fire and spread to the central computer system and the wheel wells. The manufacturer investigated the failure and concluded that the wiring harness failure was not caused by a manufacturing defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 162,000. Updated 3/31/14 the consumer stated as of Feb 27th, the insurance company totaled the vehicle, due to the extensive repairs of $6,800. 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle headlight switch wiring system. The consumer stated the dashboard lights illuminated while the headlight switch was still in the off position. Any time the dash lights were on, many drivers assumed the headlights were on too. However, that was not the case with the wiring system in the vehicle. The consumer stated the vehicle did not come equipped with the auto-on headlight feature.
