Sitting idle at a stop light and my van stalled. While I tried to start it again, it began to accelerate on its own. It will stall while driving and lose all power and the steering/ brakes get hard. It will begin to accelerate on its own while the brake is pushed. I had it diagnosed yesterday and it is a melted wiring fuel rail harness that was placed right above the exhaust manifold. It can melt and catch fire. This is a known problem with this year and model. Please help!.

Am having the exact same issue as the k14 recall. But am being told that is only for power doors. Last year I changed a new the sliding door wiring harness but still am having the same issue,by opening and closing the door it broked the censor clip and then broked the plastic cover on top of wire know the wire is being damaged my front windows are not working the air bag censor not working. And that exactly because of the hinge which is breaking the platic cover while ur sliding the doors.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt stow n go having several electrical issues. 1. Passenger power sliding door failed, replaced power door motor, lock actuator, and repaired wiring as the wires actually break/snap overtime. Poor design. 2. Less than two years later passenger power sliding door has failed again, & power locks will not work, & I can open passenger sliding door after locking vehicle with key fob and alarm won't sound! cannot get my children in and out of this door without reaching in and pulling up the lever from inside (too stiff, my daughter isn't strong enough). This is a safety issue and researching it online shows that it is widespread. 3. Power seat motor has failed. We have stow n go seating. In order to stow the 2nd row seat you must move front seat to full forward position, then move driver seat back. . . . . . Driver seat is all the way back now (for my spouse) and I cannot move it forward. Gears are broken. I cannot reach the pedals and my seventh seat is stowed! I cannot get my seat back. 4. On passenger side a part below dashboard (I think is related to heating and cooling) fell off. My floor is now wet even after reattaching it. 5. Light galore! my vehicle rotates between check engine, and service tire system warnings. I've had it checked by several mechanics and all say it's electrical.

The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact attempted to start the ignition three times and the engine immediately stalled. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The vehicle continued to remain at the dealer for further investigation where the contact was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure. The manufacturer was also notified of the problem. In addition, the wiring to the dome light was faulty which caused the dome light to melt two years prior to the most recent failure. The manufacturer had not been notified. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
The vehicle is not properly sealed. The grounds were all corroded and letting moisture or salt into components. First thing that happened was all the lights came on and then all went out. Couldn't see speed or gears. I have had to replace the basic control module and having the body control module checked out today. Everything under the hood is corroding at a fast pace. You can see even the metal on the engine. I hoping my wiring harness is ok. But the tech hasn't gotten that far yet.

Check engine light came on in early December. Dealer reset the error code and said it was probably nothing. Light came back on a few days later so we brought back to the dealer - the consulted with Chrysler and replaced the cam phasers and said that should fix the problem. Within a couple of days the check engine light and traction control light both came on and the car lost all ability to accelerate. Driving on highway at 70mph, gas pedal to the ground did nothing and car coasted to 50mph before it would lurch forward and coast back down and eventually corrected itself but lights remained on. Dealer consulted with Chrysler again and they replaced the cam phaser sensors and said that should fix it. Within a few days same thing happened, driving on highway, check engine and traction control light turned on and car lost all acceleration and coasted down to 50mph and would lurch forward and then cost down - rpms wouldn't go above 1300rpm and couldn't get acceleration back. Took car back to dealer (fortunately was only a few miles from the dealer) and they had it for 2 weeks and Chrysler recommended replacing both wiring harnesses and that should fix the problem. Within a week, same problem, driving on highway at 70mph - check engine and traction control light comes on, no ability to accelerate or maintain speed, car coasted down to 50mph and would lurch forward and cost back down. Returning car to dealer again (mid February). Quite dangerous to (repeatedly) loose acceleration and with no ability to maintain speed when driving at 70mph on a highway.

The passenger side rear door malfunctions while opening using the power open option. It opens part way and then stops or closes again. The driver side does not open at all using the power open option, only by opening manually. I am concerned for the safety of rear passengers entering/exiting the van and being struck/trapped by the door when it changes directions. It is caused by a short in the wiring harness that powers the doors which could potentially cause a fire.
I found on the internet that a bought 63 complaints about the power sliding doors on my 05 Dodge Grand Caravan well I hate to be 64 but I was led to the problem in side the wiring harness there is a red and black wire the door will stop working when the wire breaks and gets exposed there are a lot of complaints that these wires need to be fixed.
2008 Dodge Grand Caravan electrical system:wiring recall for sliding door. Because of a few months on recall dates my vehicle has not been part of the recall ,my clips have completely broken and wires broke apart when door was opened. The complete sliding passenger door no longer works and this should be part of the recall seeing so many people has this problem. This is a big issue and should be addressed. Built with an improperly routed wire harness that may have a condition where the lower sliding door hinge bracket can make contact and wear through the wire insulation.
The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically stall and hesitate when driving 25 mph and up. The contact was able to restart the vehicle momentarily before the failure would repeat itself. The dealer discovered that the insulation on the wiring harness had shortened and burned out. The dealer replaced the wiring harness at the contact's expense. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 98,000. Updated 12/21/bf
the engine light illumiated as well. Updated 12/29/10.

Problem Dodge Grand Caravan handicap conversion van:on a Friday afternoon 2010 this van stopped in a moving lane NY thruway outside of the buffalo area. Traffic was bumper to bumper, stop and go with many heavy trucks. After 2 911 calls, the thruway flatbed tow truck did not reach us for nearly a half hour. No cops came at all. My husband, in his large motorized wheelchair, and I (the driver) were stopped with traffic moving in the 2 lanes from behind us. My blinkers were on but traffic had to realize we were totally stopped and then useother lanes, including the breakdown lane to our right, to go around us! thankfully,we were not hit by these gigantic trucks. We are alive to tell the story. It is now 10 days later. The first repair shop and then, the next day till now, a dealer repair shop have worked on the van. Two sensors were replaced and then the entire computer was replaced. Both repairs did not make the van start. The dealer shop was in contact with the Chrysler/Dodge corporation. The wiring harness was opened. Part of the problem was found. I don't know all the details of their investigation. Waiting for my vehicle to be fixed, my handicapped husband and I have now amassed $1000 in hotel/etc. Bills due to this incident. And, this cost does not yet include fixing our vehicle. Finally, the dealer repair shop arranged to have a rental van delivered to our hotel (our cost) so we could finally get the special wheel chair and drive home 8 hours. And thus far all the costs are mine. I now have another $1000 rental fee facing me because the wheelchair van to get was rented for 8 days, on the dealer repair shops arrangements. A fee would be charged for "early" return of the wheelchair rental. Note that my husband had only a borrowed manual, non-tilting wheelchair for the duration. Please help us sort this out and save others from the stress and fees we have endured for this. I am now also afraid to drive that Dodge van back home on a busy highway, or anywhere.
Lemon vehicle but dealer states that it is not: 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan sxt 4. 0l , intermittent stalling of the engine without warning or service lights, will restart. Stalling began in June 2010, was purchased in 3/10. Dealer has not been able to replicate the stalling failure due to the intermittent nature. Repairs attempted: reprogramming, moving a wiring harness, replacement of wireless control module. Seems to stall more on left turns, or when outside temperatures are 90+ degrees for long periods. Also had to have rear brakes and rotors replaced due to premature warping and brake failure: repair replaced components, only to still have driver side working harder than left and front brakes, finally oil leak appeared and diagnosis was a failed oil cooler, repair: replace oil cooler: to be done on 10/4/10. Overall vehicle is unsafe due to the unannounced stalling issue.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while attempting to open the passenger rear windows, the system failed to respond. Also, the contact stated that both rear sliding doors failed to function properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign id number 10v235000 (electrical system: wiring). The failure recurred several times after the vehicle was initially repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the issue. The failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.
2005 Dodge Grand Caravan power sliding door failure due to faulty wiring harnesses. This has occurred for the past two years. The wiring harness has broken wire internally and then the door will not function or will partially function. When it partially functions, the driver may begin to operate the vehicle when the rear doors are not completely shut.
The contact 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contac stated that the rear liftgate opened independently while the vehicle was shut off. The contact believed the electronic key fob caused the doors to open due to friction but without depressing any buttons. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign id number: 10v235000 (electrical system:wiring) and was repaired. After the recall repairs were performed the electronic sliding door continued to experience failures. The contact stated that the driver side automatic sliding door would not close when depressing the key fob or while attempting to close it manually. The vehicle was taken to the dealer yet the technicians were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 25.
While driving I smelled smoke. I couldn't see where it was coming from so I continued driving. Then I saw smoke coming out from behind the panel on the passenger side rear sliding door. I then pulled over to see what was going on. I couldn't see a fire from inside and the door didn't feel hot. I walked around to the outside and touched the door, which was hot. I then noticed burn marks through the paint. I went back into the van and pulled part of the panel away and saw flames inside the door. I then took a fire extinguisher and put out the fire. I called 911 and asked for the fire department.

Have had numerous problems with van starting 3 months after purchase. Dash lights flash but only for seconds so no code can be read. Electric windows failing, batteries replaced numerous times. Have gotten to point I purchase window tracks and replace myself to save on cost. Most recently dash lights and headlights flashing rapidly radio and air go out and vehicle wanting to stall. This is a conversion van by braun. Had handicapped person in wheelchair in passenger side front. Van stalled in intersection but was able to get off to side of road. Where I was, I could not get wheelchair out of van. We could have been killed not to mention I live in florida and heat was at a feel like temp of 108. After 10 or 15 minutes van restarted and was able to limp home. Auto electric repair shop replaced ignition wiring harness but after 30 days it is now doing same again only worse. I now have no transport for handicapped person because why fix something that cannot be resolved without changing every part to figure out real problem. I know even if the bcm is replaced that is only temporary according to other reports of same problem I have.
Dear sirs: 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan se . It has had numerous problems, few of which were fixed properly when brought back to the dealership. Finally, on October 04, 2006, with 29000+ miles on the vehicle, an axle broke as my son, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren under two years old pulled out of a parking lot onto the road. Had this happened on an interstate, with the vehicle moving at a high rate of speed, there is every likelihood that a fatal accident would have occurred. Axles do not break except under extreme circumstances or when there is some fatal fault with the manufacture itself. This is not a vehicle which has been abused. It has been used to transport housewives and small children back and forth to school, to grocery, etcetera. It has been serviced at all proper intervals at the mechanicsville, va dealership where it was purchased. Except to move the vehicle so as to avoid storage charges, I will not have any member of my family transported in this vehicle. The service department at mechanicsville Dodge claims to have repaired the vehicle and that it is safe. They have all ã‚ã‚⦠driven it and it drives fine!ã‚쳜 that is illogical for a number of reasons. First, it ã‚drove fineã‚쳜 right up until the moment the axle broke, even though numerous electrical and other problems existed which were not fully repaired at that time. Second, I have absolutely no reason, based on my past experiences with shoddy work and outright falsehoods at this store, to believe that this shop is capable of properly repairing the vehicle. Third, there is no reason to believe that other life threatening problems do not exist, lurking in this vehicle to strike my family if we were to trust it or mechanicsville Dodge once again with our lives.
All power accessories including pw, pl, lighter, radio, and all exterior lights, shut-off and usually after a minute turn back on and the vehicle jerks into gear at low speeds and slams into gear at high speeds, taking the speed of the vehicle from 100k to 60k in a millisecond.
: the contact stated the vehicle failed to start and also stalled while driving at various speeds. The failures gradually became worse and occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop on multiple occasions. The mechanic replaced the wiring in an attempt to remedy the failures. The vehicle is currently awaiting a fuse box replacement.

I purchased a 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan new. Over the last year I have had multiple electrical problems. The problems caused basically two effects. The first one was that the vehicle would shut off and either not start or have difficulty starting. The second was that every time you step on the brakes, the wipers, heat, and radio would quit. At first the dearler bonneville & son could not find the problem even after putting a scope on it at the exact time the trouble occurred. I took it to an independent shop and they found a grounding stud in the door jam on the drivers side was very loose, $250. 00 later it was ok. After a month the trouble came back. This time the dealer, bonneville & son found that one of the wires in the main wiring harness was rotted, $215. 00 later it was ok. Another month gone by, having the same trouble again. Bonneville says the only way to be sure to fix this completely is to replace the whole main wiring harness at a material cot of $1400. 00. I've tried to get crysler and the dealer to fix this with out me spending more money on rotting wires in a vehicle that's just three years old. They would not. I will never by a Chrysler product again!!!.
The headlight switch and mirror adjustment switch on our 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan has provisions for lighting - but they do not light up when you switch on the lights. In my opinion this is a safety issue - if you need to adjust the mirrors at night you have to fumble for the switch. Same issue with the lighting switch. Earlier models had lighting available for these two switches. I think Dodge (daimler-Chrysler) has a safety issue here. When I e-mailed the Dodge customer service I was told there are proprietary reasons for the lack of lighting. I think this is a safety issue - anything you can do?.

2003 Dodge caravan had intermittent failure to start. Would start 5-15 minutes after not cranking. Engine died while idling and would not start. Checked battery and it would not start. Vehicle started next day after being towed. Problem traced to chafed insulation on wiring harness. Corrected insulation and vehicle started. Engine died while driving in traffic and would not restart in neutral. Coasted and parked vehicle and it would not start. Two minutes later vehicle started. Traced problem to ignition switch or computer. Currently in process of replacing ignition switch. Engine dying in traffic and refusing to start is major safety problem. Incidents occurred 10/31/04 through 11/9/04.
On 9/3/04 there was an electrical fire in the left sliding door of our 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan ex (purchased new). Previously brought it to an authorized Dodge dealer with complaints of right & left sliding doors not functioning properly. Dealer released the car stating there is nothing wrong with it. My 2 kids and I were in the cars minutes prior to it catching fire. Major damage done but Dodge wants to repair the electrical damage and for us to continue to drive it hoping that the right sliding door does not catch fire. Cannot be sure that the smoke smell will ever come out of the upholstery or that mold will not build up in the seat cushions from the fire dept putting out fire. Do not feel safe in the vehicle!!!.
We noticed check engine light was illuminated. Vehicle taken to firestone. Problem due to bad leak detection pump. Ldp on order but vehicle is drivable. Vehicle is driven three days. The day ldp arrives speedometer and odometer quits. Computer burned out. Ordered rebuilt computer, since no new computers available, from Dodge. Vehicle is not driven 14 days waiting for computer. Firestone installs computer. Three days later check engine light illuminates. Firestone says problem due to bad ldp. Obtain new ldp from Dodge but installed by firestone. Two days later check engine light illuminates. Firestone resets computer but codes keeps displaying. Firestone says problem beyond their expertise. Vehicle taken to Dodge. Dodge inspects vehicle says computer burned out. Dodge has vehicle for 10 days waiting replacement computer under warranty. Dodge replaces computer and checks wiring harness for loose connections. Two days later check engine light illuminates. Dodge says computer burned out. Dodge replaces and third computer which burns out. Dodge suspects bad ldp, but rules out when informed ldp was replaced less than one month. Dodge replaces and burns out fourth computer. 26 days and five computers later, Dodge says vehicle has serious problem. Dodge consults with Chrysler technical who recommends replacement of entire wiring harness. We decline because not a sure fix and have Dodge put the vehicle back together. Dodge disconnected wire between ldp and computer to prevent computer from burning up. Upon taking vehicle home radiator leak discovered which we replace. Wiring harness inspected by independent automotive electrical expert who said vehicle electrical problem was too much trouble to trace.

While sitting in the vehicle and idling consumer noticed smoke coming from the front end. Consumer left the vehicle, and saw that fire was rising up from beneath of vehicle. The fire department arrived and extinguished the fire. Vehicle was totaled. Dealer examined the vehicle, and could not determine the cause of the fire.
I own a 1996 Dodge Grand Caravan with the mileage around 128,000 miles. Starting in April , we smelled and saw smoke coming from under the hood . We took it to aamco and they checked it out and could find nothing wrong with the car at that time using the diagnostics. A few weeks later, the service engine soon light came on and stayed on steadily and they could find nothing wrong with the van at that time either . The *code* they found said *oxygen sensor* but they reset it . Four days later, we were heading back to charleston (100 miles) and had made it around 40 miles on interstate going around 65-70 miles an hour when, without notice, the service engine soon light started blinking and the car completely lost power . We had to pull over on the side of the emergency lane and wait until a tow truck could tow us back to lexington . . . The van was taken again to nasco where they thought the problem could be the spark plugs and wiring so they changed all that out to the tune of $400. 00 plus the $80. 00 for towing. . . Then. . . . Two days later the van was driving again to charleston on interstate and at almost the exact same spot --it cut off again !! the van had to get towed yet again to orangeburg ( closer to where it cut off ) and the mechanics there could find absolutely nothing wrong with the van !!! in town, the van does fine . . . But when you are on interstate and going a high rate of speed for a prolonged period of time . . . And it cuts off ---something is definitely wrong with the van !! it is very dangerous to be driving at such a high rate of speed and then losing power . . And must be addressed before a death occurs !! last weekend , my husband took the van on the interstate again to try it out and sure enough around 50 miles out it cut off yet again with the service engine soon light on . I notice there are several other instances of this happening to the Grand Caravans and think it should definitely be investigated and a recall issued.
1998 Dodge Grand Caravan - windshield wipers operate sporadically on their own; in addtion, the gas gauge goes full to empty and back again sporadically. An internet search points to a faulty wiring harness as the problem.
