The same as so many other complaints. The electric locking system and power side doors stopped working. Car does not lock when reaching speed either. This is a safety hazard. I have a child in the back and cannot be assured doors are locked. I do not have the ability to lock or unlock in case of emergency. Rear door locking is hit or miss. If it's true that the system needs an upgrade why do I have to pay for that? shouldn't the company that built the defective part have to fix it? not the first electrical problem I have had. Headlights stopped working while driving multiple times. I replaced the switch, works for now. I also had a defective window motor and switch which had to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the driver side windows malfunctioned. The switch that controlled each window was inoperable and only the master switch on the front driver side window was able to activate the other windows. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic test. The mechanic checked to see if the switch on the driver side door had any power and it did not. The power window switch caused other components in the vehicle to malfunction as well. The contact replaced the switch but that did not remedy the problem. The mechanic then replaced the esm module but to no avail. The contact also stated that the power locks had malfunctioned, making it very difficult to enter and exit the vehicle. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The failure mileage was 85,000. Kmj.

I own a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with 52k miles on the odometer. The power windows malfunction randomly for various intervals of time. They either fail to open completely , fail to close completely, or not function at all. Last year (2009) the front passenger window failed to open. I had to replace the switch. This year the front driver window will not open. I had the master switch replaced and the window will still not operate. The master switch is considerably more expensive being that it has individual controls to operate the front driver, passenger and rear left and right side vent windows. I have read a lot of online forums that the same problems exist for a quite a few owners of Dodge Grand Caravans and Chrysler town and country vans (made during approx. 2000 through 2007). The repairs that are made at dealers and private repair shops are expensive and are not correctly diagnosed; being that the same problem repeats in relatively short intervals of time. The fixes seem to be guess work at best. The repairs involve not only switches but, power window regulator assemblies. If the driver side window can not open, the driver will have to open the door in order to pay tolls or transact business at drive- through windows, posing a potential safety hazard. I would like to request that an investigation be initiated for the above vehicles, for the problems mentioned, as to whether a design defect currently exists.
Both power windows ceased operation around 40k miles.

My power door locks on my 2005 Grand Caravan stopped working. I have researched the problem online and have found this to be a very common problem for most 2005 caravan owners. It is a safety issue as the door locks will not lock either automatically or by using the door lock button. If in the event of a dangerous situation the persons in the vehicle would be at risk. Being that this is a very common problem and that owners have no choice but to bring their vehicles into the dealer for a costly update to the software I feel that now is the time for a recall.
In October 2007 power locks stopped working, I think this is a safety issue because now the locks don't automatically lock when reach certain speed. Children could open back doors.
I own a 2001 Dodge caravan and the driver side window stopped working for second time . Parts were replaced by dealer worked for a while and then stopped working during a rain event. Window does not work currently.

2001 Dodge caravan power windows fail to operate properly. The regulators were replaced twice under warranty and since we have spent over $500 having the regulators replaced and, once again, the windows are not working!.
We have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan, the driver's side window rolls down, but will not roll up very well. It's 95% broken. . . In other words, we could drive for hours and try to roll it up and it will not. . . This has happened many times and no one has ever been hurt, but I don't think it should have to come to that to get a recall ordered. I've seen countless forum posts with people having the same problem.
I am second owner of '01 Dodge Grand Caravan. Bought it in '05. In the summer of 2006, passenger side window stopped working properly. When first started going bad, window would go down, but not up. Had to pull up on window while hitting switch to get it to go up. Online forum states this window regulator is a big problem with the Chrysler's/dodges, numerous complaints have been filed and no recall as of yet. I'm in the process of getting another regulator for this window but from what I've read, the after market regulators are just as bad as the originals! what to do?.
Drivers side power window doesn't want to go up all the time. Sometimes you have to wait several minutes for it to go up again.
Power windows on driver and passenger side intermittently stop working. Problem has been presented to authorized dealer without repair due to problem not being present when brought in.

: the contact stated that the front passenger window would not roll down. The vehicle was parked when the incident occurred. The dealer was called on 07/07/06 and agreed to repair the window for a charge. The manufacturer was also called on 07/07/06 who offered no resolution.
Purchased new 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan 1-14-2003. On 12-8-2003 and 24638 miles driver's side power window regulator and motor assembly repaired under warranty. Power window failed again around 4-1-2006 and 54400 miles, which is about 30000 miles later. Wife being handicapped person needs the window to work and experience massive bruising on left arm due when going through drive through at bank and post office due to trouble reaching around door to drop off and deposit boxes. This is also a safety issue, since rhuematoid arthritis affects her hands, wrists and arms. She would not be able to break open a window in an emergency.
This complaint is in regards to the power windows on my 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan sport. In early 2005, my power window on the driver's side would periodically go down and not go back up until you waited for 5-10 minutes. After time went by with this continuing to do this, I took it to the Dodge dealership on william flynn highway in gibsonia, PA. They told me that they hooked it up to the computer and there was no documented cases in the chip that this was happening and since it was working, I would basically have to wait until it totally did not work until I could get it fixed. They charged me a $35 +tax diagnostic fee and nothing was don. Now, on 3/1/06, it is happening more frequently, but it is not staying down completely. Since they blew me off the 1st time and this is the closest Dodge dealer to my work, I am afraid they will do the same and charge me to do nothing. I feel that this dealership discriminated against me because I am a woman and "I don't know what I'm talking about". Please respond to me if there has been other complaints about this dealership. I had another experience regarding a rough "grinding" sound when my vehicle started. I took it up and asked them to listen to it. They said, "OH, that always happens when it is cold out. " I was not charged a fee, but the sound is still happening and 2 experience mechanics, who live totally different parts of PA, who don't even know each other, told me the same thing from the sound. That it was the alternator sticking. I am still experiencing this "noise" every time my engine is cold and I start the van to warm up. Once it is running, you stop and start again, the sound is not there. I do not have an accurate date of incidents.
After lowering the driver's side power window completely, it does not go up on command. After waiting a minute or two, it responds to a new command and goes completely up.
Power windows do not work on either drivers or passengers side. Windows will go down but not up.
The problem first started with the driver's side window in April 2005. The window started moving slower and then it locked. The contact took vehicle to the dealership on April 18, 2005, and they replaced the window motor regulator. Then, the passenger's side window did the same thing over a period of time. On October 7, 2005 it locked in a lower position. The contact was taking vehicle to the dealership.
Motor for the passenger's side window door was defective. Dealer done a thorough process to isolate the problem, and will replace the motor. Manufacturer did not cooperate.

Problem is passenger side power door. Power works, but does not release from motor when you use it manually. Dealer says out of warranty, repair cost $300-$350. ((38,000 miles). When door closes by power now, needs strength to fight power of motor. What happens if a child gets caught in power door closing?.
The regulator on the front driver side and passenger side windows are faulty. My van was built in canada and it appears to be a common trait of those vehicles. This is a serious defect that could result in injuries. I went to my local dealer and had the passenger window regulator replaced once already. Now both the passenger and drivers window are acting up again. I hope I can get some help.
Iam the owner of a 2001 Grand Caravan sport and from day one the power windows driver and passenger acting up. They will go down but I cannot bring them up again immediately,I'll have to wait for a while and then come up a few inches , and wait again, it takes 5 minutes to roll up a power window. The first time Chrysler repair the solenoids under warranty, a year later the same windows start acting up again to the point that I have to pull the window up with my hands and somebody else pushing the button at the same time, a process that takes at least 10 minutes, so much for the option of power windows . I contact Chrysler about the windows and the response was it's not covered any more under their warranty. A car company as big as Chrysler-benz are, if they cannot make power windows that will work , they should not be allowed to offered as an option.
I own a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan sport. I have experienced problems with the power windows on both the driverside and passenger side. The windows will intermittenly work. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and paid 210. 72 just for the repair of driverside. The dealer did not have the part in stock for the passengerside. The dealer stated that they replaced the power window regulator. I am still waiting for the passengerside regulator to come in so that too can be replaced. This concerns me because I would not be able to open the windows in case of an emergency, whereas I would not be able to open the door.
Consumer stated that while driving on the highway window on driver's side just fell down. Fortunately, it did not break, but it distracted from driving. Driver had to hold widow up so it would not fall on anyone in vehicle. Consumer called the dealer regarding this problem, and was told by that he could not repair the individual window, but would have to replace the whole window assembly, and such repairs would be very expensive. Consumer was unable to pay for it.

Driver side and passenger side power windows do not always work.
2001 Dodge Grand Caravan sport drivers side window. Window regulater is faulty causing the power window to operate very slow, and some times stoping in one place all together and to work one time and not the next! causing great risk for children! they could get a arm head ect. . Cought and the window, with the regulator to decide if it wants to work or not in order to put the window up or down! considering this is a family van I think this is a great risk to children or adults !! I complanied to the dealership russ darrow group in appleton wisconsin back in Jan 2003 of the problem, with no compliance, russ darrow group told me that the window needed to stop working all together , that it is normal to work slowley. Now that my van is out of warranty they told me ther is nothing that they can do about it! after doing some resurch I talked with Chrysler headcorders and they told me that my van was a canada built van and that they could not help me! dealship did not tell me that when you buy a canada car that you may have problems is the us for repairs including recalls! is they any thig that can be done about this problem and what are the laws in wisconsin? thank you debbie.
Both the driver side and passenger side power windows have failed with less than 51000 miles and 3 years of service on the van. The windows start off being intermittent and slow then eventually fail, the amount of time from first problem to total failure is about a year, by that time the warranty runs out!.
Power window motors and regulators are defective. Have had to replace driver's side power window motor & regulator on 1/26/01 and again on 3/15/02. Have had to replace passenger side power window motor and regulator on 6/4/02. Manufacturer should be held liable for defective power window motors and regulators. These defects are all too common.
Power window motor failed.
During the three month period immediately following the purchase of the vehicle, consumer experienced multiple problems with the electronic system that controls the bilateral sliding power doors. The doors open or close without any effort by anyone activating the mechanism that controls the door. On occasion, the right door will not open or close when the mechanism is depressed. When the power door is open it cannot be closed without multiple attempts to depress the electronic buttons.
