My Dodge Grand Caravan 2001 was involved in a front end collision in October of 2015. I t-boned another car that pulled out in front of me. I was going 35-40 miles per hour. The seat belt failed to tighten around my hips. Because of this failure I sustained extensive damages to my right leg. This included a displaced fracture, numerous other fractures, a crushed injury to the tibia plateau. I had 5 months in rehab, 3 surgeries, extensive physical therapy. I am still receiving medical treatment a year later. If the seatbelt had done what it . Was designed to do, my leg would not of hit the dash board. These injuries were caused by a seatbelt failure of my Dodge Grand Caravan. . Extensive records are available.

(I do have the 2nd incident recorded on my daughters cell phone. However, turning off of sr795 onto main street coming home from work - my wipers began to work on their own, as well as the message light center - all started blinking rapidly, and my seat belt sound was continuously beeping. Then last week as we were going on the expressway (280-75-475) my speedometer would jump from 60 down to 0 back up - continously, while my wipers were going, all the message indicator lights were blinking, as well as my window would not not (still don't) work nor can I lock/unlock my van from the drivers side. The incident on the expressway, incident #2 - is the one I have recorded. I phoned grogantown Chrysler - and was informed they were never sent the l25 part that is recalled. My complaint is this: if my van is a 2008, the orginal recall was in 2011, how can a dealer put the van back on the lot for sale if the recall has not been addressed or fixed. Insane - and an inconvenience - I was told I could drive it til rouen (which is closer to me) can do a diagnostic test on may 26th. What happens if it is indeed the l25 recall and myself or my kids are injured in an accident cuz Chrysler corporation has not made this part available.

I purchased my Dodge Grand Caravan sport 2003 brand new off the lot in Nov. 2002. I kept it in mint condition with all maintenance logs filled out. At the time of incident there were only 95,000 miles on the van. It had never been in a wreck before. On Jan 18 2015 while driving in the mountains I hit black ice and lost control of the vehicle. It flipped front to back, did a 180 mid air, landed on wheels then rolled at least once to the left, landing on the wheels again. The airbags never deployed. My passenger and I both had our seatbelts on however I still lifted up and hit my head on the roof and the windshield. We are still assessing our injuries. I am extremely concerned as to how I lifted out of my seat, basically the seatbelt did not tighten to me. Also why didn't the airbags deploy? has there been a recall concerning the airbags or seat belts or other that I was never informed of?.

The engine shut down after I hit a bump during a turn, I ran into a ditch and something is broke on the front passenger side. Loud noises coming from tire area. I have already had this happen multiple times and replaced the bearing. But when the engine shuts down every time I hit any significant bump in the road, even when on the highway and I'm being told there isn't anything they will do until the recall is finalized?.

My airbag light has been on for over a year. I recently had it checked out at tire kingdom where they checked it and told me that the diagnostics are coming back that it is not an air bag issue, but rather a seat belt issue. When I inquired about this at a local Dodge dealer, I was told it would be a $110 charge just to check it. I am concerned that this light being on could indicate that there is a larger problem that could result in my airbags not deploying properly in the case of an accident. I should not have to pay to find out that this is a manufacturing issue or a part malfunction. I hope that others are reporting the same issue so that we can get help for this problem with a recall.
My husband was driving our family home and some one lost control of their vehicle and our caravan hit them head on. The whole front of van was affected and it was deemed a total loss. None of airbags deployed and the passenger rear bucket seat belt failed and my 5 year-old's carseat flew into the passenger seat and console. His neck and leg were injured and he was taken to local er by ambulance. I was the passenger and my neck has been severely injured. I feel if the airbags deployed my neck may not be as bad. I was horrified when I saw my sons carseat not in the seat. This van obviously has safety issues.

The drivers seat belt does not retract and hangs limp today. The problem happend a couple times, but seatbelt retracted and then I notified dealer in late December after another occurrance in which thay determined the seatbelt was defective. By not retracting and they ordered a replacement seat belt. The seat belt is in and it is just a matter of getting to service, but in the meantime, I experienced a rear collision when parked with defective seat belt on and wish I had a non-defective seat belt on. I will ask for the seat belt part back if you would like to examine it. I need a bumper too but they can keep that!.

On 3/29/2013 my daughter and her fiance were using my van, fiance was the driver. He hit a 200+lb rock that was partially in the road. This sent him off the road where he hit a partially buried rock wall from the 1600's, this sent them airborne scraping some trees along the way. They landed about 20 feet away, nose down into another section of rock wall, also buried. This launched them further up the embankment causing it to be lodged on a stump. There was over 8,000 in damage, the front bumper was all messed up. The airbags did not deploy. Only one seatbelt locked causing injury to my daughter when her face slammed off of the top glove box, not once, but twice. I have serious concerns about the safety of the vehicle. I have small grandchildren that ride in my van on a regular basis. I have voiced my concerns to my insurance claim rep, the adjuster, the body shop, my dealership and Dodge itself. All I'm looking for is a straight answer on why this happened. If the airbags shouldn't have deployed because of the type of accident, ok, tell me why, but that seatbelt failure, that's a major deal. I cannot accept it's a fluke, or could be, or I don't know. This is my family. I love my van but with no one willing to help me get answers I just don't want it.

Involved in a near head on collision. Back third seat, seat belt (lap and shoulder) failed to tighten on impact. Victim then proceeded to hit his head on the dvd option case then whiplashed front x2 and back x2. Later it was discovered most of the seat belts in this vehicle do not properly secure anyone in position due to not tightening up when latching or on impact. The seat belt latch but does not pull back to tighten and on impact it did not tighten to secure the person on impact. This person is no diagnosed with post concussion syndrome or mild traumatic brain injury. Had the car veered in a different direction and rolled, his diagnosis could of been more severe or death.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated the seat belt warning light erroneously illuminated when the seat belt was engaged and did not warn the contact when the seat belt was not in use. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer could not diagnose the defect. The dealer performed software updates to the vehicle but none remedied the defect. The failure mileage was 126,000.
We have had several problems with all the seatbelts in our Dodge minivan prior to the date of this incident but until now we had only seen them as aggravations. The seatbelts tend to tighten slightly and when trying to loosen them they will lock up and have to be unbuckled to reset them. Sometimes they will still remain locked up even when the seatbelt is unbuckled. Sometimes jerking the belt several times will finally release it. On August 19, 2011, our 10 year old child got caught in this faulty seatbelt. On a long out of town trip, the cross belt was behind the headrest and the lap belt had become tightened. As he struggled with the seatbelt, it got tighter. All this was during transit. We stopped and he unbuckled the seatbelt but that only made it tighter. He is a thin boy but it was obvious he had his gut sucked in and the belt was pushing under his ribs. The car was parked and shut off. We struggled with it a few minutes trying to get it to release but it was apparent our child was in distress. We were just about to cut the belt when we decided to lay the seat as far back as possible and had our child do a somersault out of the lap belt. Our child had bruises on his stomach and side and was shaken up and sore. What would be the outcome if he had been trapped during a car accident/fire?.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the check engine light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised that there was an electrical issue and they reset the system. Later, while driving at highway speeds the vehicle suddenly decelerated before stalling. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and it was taken back to the dealer where she was advised that the cam sensor had malfunctioned. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the driver side rear third row seat belt suddenly locked with a passenger in the seat. While trying to loosen the seatbelt, it only continued to tighten around the passenger. The seat belt was eventually cut and the passenger received minor bruises to the abdomen as a result. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again where they replaced the seat belt. The failure mileage was approximately 1,500 and the current mileage was approximately 4,200.
I have a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan that has it's middle row right seatbelt replaced twice in less than two years. First one Feb. 2009 and second one Nov. 2010. Same problem each time with the seatbelts - they would just quit working - they would get stuck and would not be able to latch seatbelt. And if you could get it latched for some reason - it would be nearly impossible to get it unlatched when need too.
Took vehicle for annual safety inspection. The inspector stated that the commonwealth of massachusetts has told inspections to check rear seatbelts of Dodge caravans because they are failing at an alarming rate during accidents. My rear seatbelts failed the inspection. I took car to dealer who ordered new rear seatbelts and installed. The new seatbelts were defective. With the newly ordered seat belts not working, I believe that a strong case for a defective product exists. I filed a claim with Chrysler for the amount to replace 4 seatbelts and an explanation of why the new seat belts were defective. The case manager has been less than helpful, often rude.
7 year old child tangled up in rear seatbelt, causing us to have to cut seatbelt, as each attempt to free him from seatbelt caused the belt to tighten.
Seatbelt locked up.
I was trying to install my carseat when I noticed that the rear three point seatbelts don't function properly. Yes, you can buckle up and feel secure but when I tested them I noticed the don't lock in place if jerked on or when pulled all the way out. That makes them useless to me because you can't use them to tighten down a carseat and they won't keep you from going out the window in an accident. I find it hard to believe that someone would put inadequate and non-functioning seatbelt in a family vehicle, but I guess that is what happens when you let robots build your cars. Please contact me with any recall info or advice.

I own a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan and I want the gen 3 seat belts recalled. I have 2 child restraints installed on the same row next to each other and worry that in an accident the seats may possibly unbuckle each other due to the gen 3 belts. My seats are installed with zero movement at the belt path, but as well all know seat belts do stretch in an accident and who is to say that they won't hit the buckle release mechanism?.
2004 Dodge Grand Caravan se developed problems with the seat belt on the front passenger side of the vehicle. ** answer required***. The seat belt could not be pulled out of it's housing. The consumer tried several time but was unsuccessful. The vehicle was taken to a Dodge dealer but they could not duplicate the problem. Since the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem they refused to replace the seat belt free of charge. The consumer paid out of pocket to have a new seat belt installed.

The release buckles on the 2nd and 3rd row seats of 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan are above the buckle and can unlatch the seat belt by occupants arms or objects in the seat in an accident. This is a dangerous situation and needs to be recalled on all models with these gen3 Chrysler belt buckles. The minivans usually carry children who are all at risk. The 2004 and 2005 models of the Dodge and Chrysler minivans now have the gen4 belt buckles with the recessed release buckles in the 2nd and 3rd row seats.
My seat belts keep coming unlatched. I have generation 3 seat belts. My daughter's car seat has come undone over 5 times in the last two years of ownership of this car. My two clients, who are semi-over weight, when they shift their bodies around, their belts come undone. It is becoming an issue with my clients and I fear that one day I may not notice they are undone. The last time a seat belt came undone was yesterday while I was driving. But it has been happening over the past two years, since I have owned this car.
I am very disappointed with Chrysler's stance on the gen3 seat belt. Even if they don't recall it, they should give me the option to pay for the fix on my own. I urge the NHTSA to force a move by Chrysler. I guess it will take one of their own children to die.
