Battery Dead Problems of Dodge Journey

Reporting common problems of 2009 Dodge Journey 2. 0crd 103kw 1. A car started shutting off whenever it drives, running in parking lot, stopped at red light. 2. Battery fails suddenly, without any warning, jumping cables can't help, because a car just making a cranking noise under a hood. 3. Wheel airbag is having short circuits, so due to it sometimes lights a warning in dashboard. 4. Steering wheel relay shows misunderstood degrees of wheel angle, so it comes to esp bas error.

Battery light came on many times over a couple weeks. Then it went into battery saver mode. The radio stopped working, air conditioning, lights and the dash board had every check light come on. It then would not shift and rpms went to 4 and 5 but only would do around 20 mph. Battery thrn died. After charging battery then replacing it with a new battery and the alternater and all wiring checked out just fine. No other problems could be found but still the battery saver mode is on and my Journey wont hold a charge. This all happened while I was driving with my childern in town going at a speed of 20-30 mph.

On 06/05 car would not start at big lots store thought battery had died and started immediately after getting jumped which happens often if leaving a light on or door slightly ajar so went to walmart next and left car running to make sure would not need to get jumped afterwards and when I came out of store car was no longer running. A walmart associate came out to jump car for me and after car started it went dead again after a few seconds of started. I went inside and bought a battery in case I needed a new battery however it turned out to not be the case after being at walmart for 3 hours trying to get car to stay on long enough to get out of parking lot I was able to get it home for it to shut off again. I tested it out the following day and only made it to the end if the block and it shut off on me again. I stayed at the end of the street for an hour until my husband was able to get it going long enough to get it back home and has remained there until I get this issue solved. My husband has learned online that lots of other people with the same vehicle have this same issue with this vehicle where one day they can drive around fine and the next the vehicle shuts off as if the battery is dead.

The vehicle intermittently would not start one day. Replaced the battery and all connectors inspected. The vehicle will drive for a day or two then end up with another dead battery. The main problem is when the last time the battery died it turned off the engine while I was in an intersection and was almost in an accident because of it.

Battery goes dead all the time, check enjine light, traction light, loses power going up small hills, won't shift, air bag light stays on, testing says it has a battery drain, cam shat sensor light changed but still says bad, we put a new battery in but doesnt help.

Vehicle not used 4 days, tried to start, the battery totally discharged, zero volts measured with a voltmeter. No apparent reason, nothing was left connected or powered on (I. E computer, phone, etc. ) started with the help of another vehicle, the battery charged and works ok, the symptom did not reoccurred. I read several comments online. Is there a known reason? during the no power ordeal, I noticed a major safety concern: the driver's door lock can be opened with the key, while the other doors locks are electrically activated and if the car battery is dead can not be opened, neither from inside or outside . The car battery is physically located behind the left fender, in front of the left wheel and will be damaged even in case of a minor fender-bender. If this will happen, all the occupants (except the driver will be locked inside). What if a fire will occur? the car has 7 seats! there might be 7 occupants to be evacuated through one door only! I hope my concern will reach the right person (or department), and I hope a cure or remedy will be find. Sentry security feature randomly malfunctions, deactivating the engine and stranding the vehicle. Vehicle makes click noise when key fob is turned to start, but engine won't turn over. Then vehicle will act like the battery is dead, even though it isn't. The vehicle will work normally for months with no problems. No warnings and no patterns. Only able to start again after a few hours left alone. No action resolves the issue.

2016 Dodge Journey. Consumer writes in regard to problems with vehicle that causes the battery to malfunction quickly. Battery goes dead frequently when vehicle is left alone from 12 to 48 hours. Replaced battery with a new top of a line sears best. . Problem still exists. Very dangerous when vehicle will not start at the end of a work day stranded in a parking spot in a bad side of town. Electric door locks will not open doors due to dead battery. Constant unknown battery drain!!! happens frequently. This vehicle is a lemon!!.

I was at the drive in movie and had the truck running for part of the movie. I shut the truck off and just listened to the rest of the movie via my radio and had the lights off. When the movie was over I I could not crank my truck. You could see the lights on in the inside but my truck dash said my key was not in vehicle of which it was. Then it said vehicle not in park of which it was. My uconnect screen kept trying to load and would just keep going out. I had 3 people try to jump it just in case the battery was dead even though I knew it wasn't including the tow service for my insurance. None of this worked. I had to get the vehicle towed home now I can not lock my vehicle cause it has no power. My dash says my key is not in the vehicle of which it was and that the vehicle is not in park of which it was. Now on my dash it says the following lights are etl electronic throttle light, air bag warning light, and mil malfunction indicator light. I saw a lot of complaints about this on google and youtube when I search this issue this has got to be fixed caused I am a doge fan but I can not keep a vehicle that I am paying on and it doesn't work. Help.

We have had many problems with this SUV. Elect. And mech. The engine will just shut off. Several lights stay on. The dealer claims that they fixed the iginition switch a few mths. Ago but they did not. Every time it has been in the dealer to find what was wrong, they could not find anything. For example we the battery and less than a year later the battery is dead something electrical is draining the battery, the are many other problems with this car.

I purchased this car in 2012 and since then, I have replaced the battery at least once a year and Dodge keeps telling me that there is nothing wrong with the car. To me, this is a design flaw as I cannot get to the battery to check water or status. I was driving down the road the other day when all the idiot lights started flashing, so I pulled over and turned off the car. I tried to restart it and the battery was dead!! e TN Dodge had just replaced the battery, under warranty, as I had just replaced the battery two months earlier, and now it was dead, once again, 1 year later, almost to the day. And now it's back at e TN Dodge, replacing the battery once again. And yet, Dodge keeps telling me that there is nothing wrong with the car, that replacing the battery, once a year, is normal in this area. I spoke with george stephens at the Dodge dealer and he was the one who said that. I have called Chrysler and they keep telling me to "bring it to the nearest dealer", Chrysler has told me this four times for a total of about 5 weeks downtime, both at the dealer and on the road/home total. I truly cannot get anyone at Chrysler to listen to me and they are not taking this seriously. At the same time, since owning the car, my remote will not start the car if it's cold. I have to physically go outside, open the car door, sit in the seat and start it as if I was going to use it right than and there. I have the paperwork where I have taken it to rocky williams Dodge, in mt. Juliet, TN to get it fixed and they said "nothing wrong". . . . ,to me, this is a serious design flaw and safety issue as if I or my wife are on the interstate and the battery dies, I am stuck. And it has happened before. . .

Electrical system failure due to wiring harness melting, radiator cracked because bracket for ac is connected too tight when car is manufactured, battery died prematurely because of failed wires, rotors warped causing car to shake violently when braking. All these problems and others for a car with only 60,000 miles. Have spent over $2000 to date in repairs that numerous people have had related to this vehicle. Based on online complaints and talking to mechanics who have worked on this car no one can believe that the correct electrical recall has taken place. There have been electrical recalls on vehicle, but not for most common failure. No one understands why brake issue has not been recalled and no one understands why the radiators keep failing without a recall. Will it take a serious crash? safety of the consumer is at risk. You pay $20,000 for a car and think it will last awhile. This car has major problems that are consistent from buyer to buyer.
