At first, unknown, all problems are in the tailgate,of which you cant see while driving. Tailgates are designed to be used. First ,the backup camera went out, then the third brake light went, and you can only see when backing up to a large picture window-also,parking light r/s in tailgate is out. Now, I asked my granddaughter to open the tailgate when the car is locked, and it opens- (security) I then looked up on youtube, and found many on how to fix due to bad wiring at the hinge. A service repair ticket dated 11/21/24 from bill volz in westchester,NY noted immediate attention but did not see the rest items in need of correction. Security- tailgate not locking safety- multiple lights not working, camera out,and windshield wiper /tail occaisionally --all connected.

There is a recall on 2015 Dodge Journeys for the wiring on the abs system that causes the wires to get corroded and the abs not working. I have recently had the issue described in the recall yet my vehicle does not qualify for the recall and my local Dodge repair center want me to pay 1800. 00 to repair something that should be fixed under the recall and now I have a vehicle that I can not drive or I risk having an accident.

The radio/thermostat window power locks and usb slowly started to malfunction. Now the screen to the radio and thermostat does not work at all. The wiring harnesses located at the rear hatch which has no visible outside damage, yes all the wiring inside is pinched and exposed. The only way we discovered it was because the back wiper blade went out. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

The vehicle is inoperable because the abs module and headlamp wiring needs to be replaced. The vehicle only has 13,000 miles but is no longer covered under a warranty. There was a recall for Dodge Journey but this VIN is not covered by the recall. Are there more vehicles that should be added to the recall?.
Past 2-3 years whenever it rains abs and esc light come on and brakes fail to work properly. Once quits raining, after no more than 24-48 hours lights go off and everything functions fine until rains again. Recently there was no rain from January to mid June and I traveled from florida to ohio and back with no problem. Then it rained, abs and esc back on. Vehicle was recalled Dodge #r61 for this exact issue and the dealer stated performed recall. That did not correct problem. I contacted Dodge and was given a case number. I took to dealer after it had rained and they confirmed abs and esc light were on and pulled code when I dropped off stating abs module failure which is the part that fails in r61 when it rains. The next day it did not rain and dealer states abs and esc light off and there were no codes indicating no problem. They say they do not know how to repair and state Dodge told them it was out of warranty. I pointed out no expiration on recall and they have stated they don't know how to fix and don't know how to get paid for repairs if could find problem. Note: the r61 states it does not apply to right hand drive fiat freemont because the water intrusion to abs ground wire occurs when rain runs off passenger windshield and soaks ground wire and the right hand drive vehicles have ground wire that is culprit on drivers side and water from rain does not affect those wires. In 2016 they announced they were recalling 152,000 right hand drive Dodge Journeys (fiat freemont) without explanation however this appears to be clear proof they do not know how or where water is entering abs wiring system.

My whole steering column is causing problems from airbags, my wipers not working now, speed-control wont work. , traction control . Causing my car to swerve out of control and causing my car to almost rollover as it went into oncoming traffic, I keep having to change my tires including the back tires the most. The car was in motion when this happened. The light is on the dash, but no one will fix it, I have a son who is 14 years old I bought the car because I thought it would be dependable. My son has to have a live and kidney transplant. The car is still under 100,000 ,miles. So you can imagine when I found all this out. They said or the dealer said that the car does have recalls but wont fix them, I was told that there is a wiring harness problem. Please help, thank you ,katina adams 870-204-1402 there are still other issues not listed above. The car is leaking oil around the oil pan. I am shocked as I have always been a Dodge lover.

Traction control light on and abs light on constantly. Customer complaint of vehicle not stopping and abs activate pulse felt in brake pedal. Wheel speed sensor giving a fault code was replaced but still having the same issue. Hooked up snap-on scanner and found communication issues from abs to tcm to ecu so a data line most likely a culprit. Vehicle has 75k miles. Attached is a scan report of the codes found on vehicle. This seems to be common on many of the same vehicles. Will report findings once customer agrees to further investigate the issue. I'm thinking a faulty abs module or wiring to abs and faulting out the data communication line causing data loss between other modules in the system.

All of the buttons stopped working in the driver's side door, along with the two back doors. The windows, locks, etc do not work because of this. The airbag light keeps turning off and on. Now all of the wiring is acting like it is messed up. The brake lights keep coming on, the car randomly won't start, the overhead light comes on when the right blinker is used. Now the car won't shift out of park 8/10 tries. The car also acts like it loses power randomly while driving in town. These problems have been listed as recalls, yet my car is not on the list.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving about 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the computer system was failing. The vehicle was taken to the paul sherry Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram dealer (937-778-0830, located at 8645 n county road 25a, piqua, OH 45356) where the technician diagnosed and replaced the throttle body. The abs and traction control lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who diagnosed that the wiring harness was corroded and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that a recall repair was done in 2018, under NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (electronic stability control, service brakes, hydraulic). The contact was told that a part of the wiring harness may be repaired free of charge (not entire wiring harness). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000. Fe.
The driver's side window switch will not operate the front windows or side mirrors but does operate the back windows. The air bag light is also illuminated on the instrument panel. I've been researching about the fault and found out there was a recall about the wiring harness. I need the proper paperwork or steps to get this problem and recall fixed. Thanks.
The wiring harness on the driver door, is a piece of crap. Cheap china thin wire. Breaks it's terrible. I never saw cheap#ss wire like that. It's more brittle, than peanut brittle. Then, I see about getting it fixed. With labor over $500. 00 I didn't pay for cheap #ss wire's to break, for almost $30,000. 00 I've never had this issue in any car I've ever had in the past 30+ year's ever. The door's won't lock the interior lights flaah. It beeps. Wth. . . . . . . . . .
The rear hatch wires that connect to the hatch are all frayed and or broken causing sparks and non functioning hatch lock switch, brake light problems, and dangerous! the problem is Dodge cheaper out on the wires they used and they fall apart and break also they aren't long enough. My other issue is the wipers are noisy no matter what brand used and I mean really loud, lastly the wiper spray nozzle on back doesn't spray the one on the hood broke off and the rear wiper doesn't wipe the whole windshield neither does the front wipers! the main issue is the cheap electrical wiring on this car it easily breaks off and falls apart within 5 years the wires are no longer useable! Dodge needs to recall the wiring 100%.
My rear windshield wiper died on my 2013 Dodge Journey over a year ago, I was told by Dodge that I needed a new motor, so I purchased one on my own, and it didn't work. So I researched this issue to find out that, it was a wiring harness that was cut from rear door opening and closing I found out that there are a lot of people that has the same issue this issue showed exposed wiring. Every time witch could. Cause an electrical fire hazard please address my number is [xxx] the parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The wiring harness at the hatch area is breaking causing the rear lights to fail.
When opening the back hatch, all the doors will randomly lock or unlock. The hatch light does not work. The rear window, back hatch, wiper cleaner will not work. Attached is a picture of the wiring harness for the back hatch. All the wires have been cut just from regular opening and closing of the hatch due to the fact where it is located and that when the hatch is closed it bends all that wiring in half. As you can see from the picture at least 5 are completely broken and many more are almost completely cut.
Lift gate wiring harness becomes weak and brittle causing wiring to fail. This wiring feeds all lights and functionality on the read lift gate. Dealers will repair which last a short while until failure again.
Takata recall . I was driving my car and I noticed it smoking I look and the back window was on fire smoking and my wiring to door is fried and window switch is fried.
I have had nothing but problems since day one of buying this car. Intermittently lags or does not start for long periods of time. Radio goes in and out lights come on and off while driving. Sometime the brake lights work sometimes they dont no one knows why. Got stuck in a parking garage for nine hours one day because the car lost all power could not put it into neutral and I could not find a tow truck small enough to tow me out. Then 9 hours later it started. Now I smell burning under the dash and my ac only works on the passenger side while the driver side blows out hot. There is definitely something wrong with the wiring of this car. This car has been to the dealership over 20 time under warranty for almost all the same problem with jo resolve. They cant recreation the problems so I pay deductables and rental car fees to get back the same broken car.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the wire harness underneath the driver's seat was causing the air bag warning indicator to illuminate. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 137,000.

Wife got into car to go to store told me done lights would not go off. I tried every switch in the car but nothing would turn them off. I sent her to store anyway knowing that battery would not die in that amount of time. Wife returned from grocery store stating something smells hot. I looked in car again and I also smelled burnt wiring. I looked at the middle seat light and saw smoke. I quickly popped the lens off the dome light and saw dripping melting plastic. I disconnected the light and tossed it out in the lawn. Dodge sent an inspector to look at the event and I received a letter stating that any done light will become hot if left on. I asked them if they were supposed to smoke, melt and almost drip on a 3 year old child's head. Even the harness melted. They don't think this is a big deal but I believe (and other people have looked at it ) believe it is. Very dangerous! I've left a dome light on in many cars over the years and none started melting. I've tried to relay this to Dodge but can't get anyone but a level 1 person to talk to. I'm really beside myself on this. I can't understand how this is a big deal. I'm hoping by contacting this agency I can get a resolution and possibly prevent someone from getting seriously injured.
A short in the drivers door wiring harness causes head lights to flash, turn signals to fail to operate, speedometer failure, cruise control failure, and warning lights to flash. It also feels like abs is disabled. This problem occurs at random while driving. Vehicle has been taken to dealership and diagnosed and the problem confirmed by technicians. The estimated repair cost is over $900 and the parts needed for the repair is on national backorder for at least three weeks. This problem occurs with numerous model years of the Dodge Journey. I have experienced this problem repeatedly both while vehicle is stationary and while operating on streets and highways. The only remedy is to pull over and repeatedly turn the vehicle on and off as well as opening and closing the door on the driver side. This becomes extremely hazardous on the highway as there is no way to utilize the safety signals and opening and closing the drivers door create a hazard to ot her vehicles on the highway. I need a copy of the.

Dodge recall r61 well I have a 2015 Dodge Journey and I was having torque converter problems in which the dealer covered but while they were in there they also discovered there was an engine wiring harness in which water leaked on from a manufacturer made hole which had a screw that got lose and corroded my wires which controlled the abs dash components lights referencing to recall # r61. . I'm sure that this vehicle and maybe others have been affected outside of which they claim. I'm not understanding why my car wasn't recalled on this matter?! when the problem is identical to recall r61 . . . Please someone help me. . It's really ashamed that only some cars are getting fixed and others are out $2000 and more because of dates I which I know not about but problems are identical. . I feel this is vital for investigation for the safety and well being of Dodge customers. I'm just glad I caught this problem before anything serious happened as they claim could while my kids was in the vehicle. 😭😭😭😭😭😭 pls help get to the bottom of this.
For over 2 years I've tried various things to get my reverse lights to work. Checked fuses, checked the bulbs. One day my reverse lights stopped working, my hatch stopped locking and unlocking while all other doors complied. And some of my brake lights stopped working. After vigorously youtubing, I found a video on changing the liftgate wiring. Where I found my issue. This is a serious fire hazard!! when I removed the wiring harness, 4 of my wires looked as though they had been cut. No wonder things weren't working. . After using electrical connectors and electrical tape my reverse lights are now fixed. However, knowing I could've died in a car fire just doesn't sit well for me and my children.
On may 15, 2018, approximately 10 minutes after I cranked my vehicle and left for work my vehicle caught on fire. I was approaching a 4way stop in gaylesville al 35973 at intersection of highway 35 and highway 68. Luckily there was a truck stopped in front of me and the driver jumped out telling me vehicle was on fire. Before I ever got out of vehicle flames were shooting out from under the hood. The engine cover caught on fire and totaled out the vehicle it burnt the engine all the wiring the hood and front axles.
Master window switch quit working, bought a new switch that didnt fix it and so I did some research and see there was a recall on these vehicles for the copyright 2011, Chrysler group llc, all rights reserved February 2011 dealer service instructions for: safety recall k07 front door wiring harnesses 2009 (jc) Dodge Journey note: this recall applies only to the above vehicles built from November 01, 2007 through November 07, 2008 (mdh 110122 through 110723) which also effects my lighting and possibly airbags . I have children that's not acceptable .

Purchased vehicle in April of 2015, transmission pump went out on it in July 2016 while on vacation moving through the entrance gaits at where we were staying. Was fixed under warranty on vacation. Dealership did not even give us a loaner while waiting. The following April 2017, it happened again while driving to work only they had replace entire transmission. Now my vehicle jerks when switching gears and stalls randomly when I come to a stop. I am at 76k miles. This new transmission is still under warrenty since it has not been a year. This car is a lemon!!! I will be getting rid of it soon. I was hoping to keep it after I paid it off, but I don't think it will last for me to see it get paid off! I have also had a seat track fixed and the radio and navigation replaced, as well as the wiring harness for the steering wheel and cruise control. All during warrenty thankfully. Makes me angry because I do not want to start over on a loan and I will not be able to buy at the same interest rate.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Journey. While driving approximately 70 mph, the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearing and brakes were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that water entered the wiring harness and the abs module, headlamps, and dash wiring harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 15v675000 (service brakes), but the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
Left driver door wiring issue causes both front power window controls on driver side not to function when statiinary & driving. Intermittent dash warning lights flash & windshield wipers activate without driver initiation while driving. Airbag & seat belt dash warning light comes on intermittently while driving. Check engine for powretrain control module comes on intermittently while driving.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the front driver's side door wiring harness failed, the wires prematurely shorted, and the electrical function panel failed to operate. The dealer diagnosed that there were loose and fractured wires, and the front driver's side wires and harness needed to be replaced. The dealer and manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included NHTSA campaign number: 10v658000 (electrical system). The manufacturer provided no solution. The approximate failure mileage was 182,000.
Multiple buttons on the drivers side door panel suddenly stopped working (front windows, side mirror positioning, and lock/unlock button) without any trauma/manipulation except for back windows buttons which still work. Upon further investigation, numerous consumers had similar complaints which were found to be due to faulty front door wiring harnesses that were replaced under Chrysler safety recall "k07". However, my vehicle was not included in the manufacturing dates specified by the recall despite identical symptoms. I believe that the inability to adjust my side mirrors and lock/unlock the vehicle qualifies my situation as a safety hazard and therefore my vehicle should be covered under the k07 recall issued by Chrysler.
The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that when the passenger seat was moved forward and/or backwards, the air bag light turned on and off and then remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnosed that the "b1c4e passenger positioner open circuit "did not send the signal to inflate or to activate in case of a crash". The passenger side wiring needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 47,900.
Driver side front window/locks/mirror controls don't work. Rear window controls do work on driver side. Locks and passenger window controls work on passenger side. All is exactly as in safety recall k07-front door wiring harness (stopped with model year 2009) so why is my exact problem (2010) shared by so many other 2010s on the internet, too? I am frustrated. Mechanic cannot find problem. Considering buying a new master switch for driver door-others say replacing it didn't work! it's a known problem-symptoms exact and to the "t". . . Recall window cutoff too soon!!! was notified of ignition/key fobick recall, thankfully! car occasionally almost dies, chugs, and keeps running. Car starts and runs great-intermittent almost dying thing always out of the blue! not notified about high pressure power steering hose leaking problem-just paid to have that replaced. Power steering makes terrible noise when turned to right. Suspension rattles like a box of bones! what next? I'm getting the sense that this vehicle isn't safe to drive (esp. W/my son in the car)! diagnostics and repair bills and quotes really starting to stack up-the more I look into this 2010 Dodge Journey regarding my problems, seeing so many others with same exact problems-really surprised that the recall list isn't more than it is! how many people have to live through the same poor quality issues before the manufacturer takes care of these sometimes seemingly pandemic problems??? started before 116,000 miles - now 120,115 miles.
