The steering locked up could not turn or straighten car out. All electrical things lights air conditioning gas light just went haywire and is still not working. The shifting system I guess is what u call it started slipping out of gear like going into natural or first gear and nothing else. Several cars had to serve to keep from getting hit at 70+ miles an hour and I had no control other than to hit the break on the freeway and pray. Accordingly to the bob site there's so many problems I know the ones I've had I just didn't know I could let any one know that mattered. I've reported it today. The first time it slipped out of gear I thought maybe it was something I may have done as far as the electric it was little things like ac works as it pleases airbags light up tire pressure ect the gas light no longer moves stays on e unknown to exact dates.

The back up camera intermittently comes on when vehicle in reverse. Sometimes it shows a camera with a line, sometimes an image then it disappears and sometimes the image is hazy or distorted. It is never consistent nor reliable. The rear view mirror cannot be used to its full size because of the image of the failed camera.

The evic lights will turn off while driving. Doesn’t matter if it’s daylight or evening. During evening hours it poses a risk due to not seeing speed or any other lights on dashboard. The evic will stay on after car is shut off and key fob is moved away from vehicle causing the battery to die.

Initially, the component that was failing was the rear wiper blade. The wiper blade would not perform a proper rotation. It wouldn’t move at all when I would turn the switch, but anytime the car was unlocked or locked. The door was open or closed the blade would move. A few days later, one reverse light was out. The rear wiper doesn’t really pose any risks but with my reverse lights, failing and any other lights in the rear could be a safety issue. My partner being an elevator mechanic knows electrical like the back of his hand. , so he did the process of elimination, realized that it was the wiring at the back hatch. The wiring is shot brittle breaking burning. . Which could possibly start a car fire which would put me my child. My boyfriend in danger. . The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer have not taken it to an independent service center. My partner does all of the repair maintenance on my car. I did not get any warning, signs or messages prior to the failure. My partner has fixed the wiring issue at the back hatch, but if it still needs to be inspected, I’m sure if wiring is checked anywhere else in the car it’s gonna be the same issue. The wires are brittle and breaking melting,.

I have issues starting it. New starter, new battery and it just dies. Luckily I was parked when it died. I have children, if it dies while driving I could be in a serious car crash with my children in the car. I do not want to die, I love my car but I do not want to be put in danger because of this type of issue. I also do not want to be stranded somewhere. Please help.
The electrical system keeps failing. The front windows the radio ac and power lock and doors glitch on and off. This is daily to put where the radio and ac will not stay on for more than 30 seconds.

In April 2025 I was driving and the abs light came on and windshield wipers went off sporadically. Dodge dealer found nothing wrong. It happened again in June 2025. Dodge dealer had car for 1 week and stated they could not find problem but car was safe to drive. They said to return when problems were more constant. On the morning of 8/14/2025, I dropped someone off at the dr and went to starbucks. Went inside for order. While driving back to drs windshield wipers went crazy and car started to stutter. I pulled over . 4 miles from starbucks. When I stopped I saw smoke so got out of the car and could see flames. I went to open backdoor for my purse but door would not open. Drivers door was not fully closed so was able to retrieve to call 911. Fire department arrived quickly but front of car was already engulfed in flames. Fire department was able to get fire out. Car was a total loss.
Car trys to start, it turns over but doesn't start. When it does start the red lightening bold is illuminated. Motor runs rough and shaky has zero power to accelerate. On going since 2024.
Vehicle repeatedly fails to start because of ignition system defect I have to wiggle or finesse the key fob in the ignition slot to get the car to start. The problem has happened many times. The first time I crashed into my shed I was so scared. And now the vehicle will not start at all leaving me in my family straight on the roadside I am aware of existing recall ro3 for the ignition switch wind module on this model year my vehicle either was not repaired or still exhibiting the same defect after prior service. This is a safety issue because it leaves driver stranded unexpectedly and may also cause the ignition to shut off while driving I request an hstsa investigate further or ensure the manufacturer repair repairs this issue under recall.

There are known recalls on 2018 Dodge Journeys. For some reason my VIN 3c4pdcab7jt443786 doesn't show on the list. 1) back up camera shows a black screen or a blurry dark picture (on going issue for over a year) 2) electrical system sometimes refuses to acknowledge the key fob and or won't start due to it thinking it has a dead battery. (on going issue for almost two years) 3) when braking in an emergency situation, heavy vibration from the rear of vehicle (on going issue for a few years when hard braking rarely occurs).
The carbondale fire department was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the parking lot behind the above-listed address. Fire personnel arrived and found a 2009 Dodge Journey with an engine compartment fire. Fire personnel used tank water and a pre-connected 1 3/4 in. Hose line to extinguish the fire. There were no exposures or damage to other property. Upon completing the extinguishment, an origin and cause investigation was conducted, which included, but was not limited to, scene examination, documentation, and interviews. The owner of the vehicle stated the following: he purchased the vehicle new. He has liability insurance only through allstate. This is not his primary vehicle. He does his own service. No known electrical issues, and there were no warning lights on the vehicle before the fire. The vehicle has approximately 160,000 miles on it the only known issue with the vehicle was a power steering issue. Before the discovery of the fire, the owner had pulled into a gas station across town to add power steering fluid. Upon leaving the gas station, the owner reported that within a few blocks, he began seeing black smoke coming from under the hood, and there was an odd odor to the smoke. (review of oty video cameras confirmed this account) he pulled in the parking lot at the above-listed address and accessed the engine compartment to find fire on the power steering reservoir, the plastic engine cover, and the cooling fan. He attempted to extinguish the fire with a soda he had and then attempted to retrieve water from a nearby building. Upon returning with water, the fire was too large to extinguish. The scene examination revealed an engine compartment fire that had transitioned into the passenger compartment during the failure of the front windshield. The hood of the vehicle had completely melted away during the fire. Fire patterns in the engine compartment were consistent with the owners account of the fire. The fire was determined to be unintentional, with the.
My back up camera has flipped the view upside down. Sometimes it glitches like static. I have tried different approaches to fix the issue but it continues to be upside down. It also caused me to back into my other car due to it glitching in the process of me backing up by causing me to lose visibility in a split second. It has been like this for years now with no hope of finding a solution. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.
Was driving car after cleaning it had a box in trunk that barely took a portion of the trunk up. While drive smelt smoke and electrical smell and my trunk was on fire inside. Pulled over and the back hatch inside got so hot from what I can only guess was electrical that the box caught fire. This caused a whole inside back hatch and melted part of my seat and damaged my storage containers.
Since buying my car, it has completely shut off while driving down the street 3 times with the key still in the run/on position. When it has done this I've lost power steering, power braking and complete power loss. The 3rd time this happened while I was taking my children to school and almost caused us to crash so I called a local locksmith, because I thought it was my key because the remote functions (lock, unlock, panic, and remote start) had stopped working also, paid for a new key and programming, only to find out it wasn't just the key, it was also the wireless ignition node module was defective too so I had to have it replaced and programmed as well. The locksmith asked my permission to disassemble the win module to inspect it for the cause of the problem and he said that there was a bad contact point inside that was breaking connection and causing the shutdown. I had to pay $1000. 00 for these parts and service and I no longer have access to the module that was originally in my car since he took it apart. Thank god I managed to avoid any accidents when these incidents happened. The first time was in March of 2025.
The rear backup camera will fail often and stay off without any warning I was just pulling into my garage and it stopped halfway. This type of equipment failure seems to be a big issue because if I am around my kids at school or really anywhere where I use my backup camera which that's how I mainly park then I could hit somebody and I wouldn't know because the camera stops working in the middle of me backing up. The fuse boxes have been checked and there is no issues with them so I'm not sure how to fix the backup camera issue when it will kind of work but then it's like it has a short or something but I feel like it's a bigger public safety issue when I know other people with the same vehicle has this issue too.
Was driving down freeway when steering wheel got tight and all the lights on dash started to flash and then the car shut off and wouldn't start, had to have it towed to dealership.

The backup camera randomly works. When it does work, within minutes it slowly fades from a picture to a black screen.
The engine coil packs and spark plus were faulty. After we paid the dealership 700 to fix which was never fixed then we fixed on our own paid a family friend to look at and fixed and then to another dealer to fix never were fixed which cause faulty engine and engine collapsed. When told the dealer ship the problem they told us they couldn’t look at it until 2 weeks from that day and then we had to pay for it.
Back up camera goes black.
My backup camera has a black screen when it was working it was poor quality even if it was clean, the sensors for backing up have failed! warning message comes on on the dash but the fuses and all have been checked big safety issue living where there many children have to park on side of road because can see backing up.

It all started with no starts and had starter replaced and then charging problem had new battery and alternator replaced . Then driving to work all the dashboard lights lit up like a christmas tree and died a couple of times once in the middle of the road . Even when the car was in park and key out of the ignition the lights on dashboard would light up , like the car never totally shut off?replaced ecm afterwards thinking that was the problem but wasn’t the case (I still have the original ecm unit ) and still there was a battery drain , driving it and the lights lit up the dashboard and stalled out . You can here a buzzing sound after the car if off and key is removed ?.
Dashboard lights and control screen blacks out.
Component/system that failed or malfunctioned & availability for inspection I have experienced multiple safety-critical failures in my 2012 Dodge Journey, including transmission failure, catalytic converter defects, engine repairs, electrical malfunctions, and brake system issues. Pattern of recalls across Dodge Journey models & lack of recall for my vehicle there have been numerous recalls across multiple model years (2009-2020) for the exact same failures my vehicle is experiencing, including: transmission failures and defects engine problems requiring major repairs catalytic converter and exhaust failures brake system failures and premature caliper wear electrical malfunctions affecting windows, wiring, and power systems despite this clear pattern of defects in Dodge Journey models, my specific vehicle has not been recalled for these issues. Dodge/stellantis needs to explain why these defects are not being covered under existing recalls when the same problems have been recognized in other model years. How my safety & others’ safety was put at risk 1. Transmission failure & unsafe driving conditions my transmission failed completely, causing high rpm revving, and loss of acceleration. My vehicle essentially stalled out on the highway. Now, the transmission requires a full rebuild costing over $5,238. 64. Dodge has issued recalls for transmission defects in other Journey model years, but mine is excluded despite experiencing identical failures. 2. Engine repairs & performance failures my vehicle has required major engine repairs, including: camshaft and rocker arm replacements ignition coil replacements thermostat and cooling system repairs Dodge has issued engine-related recalls for other Journey models, including crankshaft/camshaft sensor failures, engine stalling, and overheating risks. My vehicle suffers from the same defects but has not been recalled. These engine issues pose a major safety hazard by increasing the risk of engine stalling, loss of power, and.

The cruise control has stopped working. And there is faulty wiring in the hood making the check engine light come on. And a huge water and oil leak we just got the vehicle Friday 2/21.
The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the doors continuously locked and unlocked, and the windows continuously rolled up and down unintendedly. Additionally, the interior lights and the exterior lights turned off and on unintendedly. The contact also stated that a light indicating that the tailgate was opened was displayed while the tailgate was securely closed. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a fee for diagnostic test would be charged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
The liftgate wiring harness is malfunctioning, causing my wiper blade in the rear to be working when it’s not turned off and turns off when you try to work it and my reverse lights are not working. Everything that I have looked up points to the liftgate rear wiring harness has been damaged somehow.
My rear back up camera going bad again I had it replace a few yrs ago and it is doing the same thing again, picture is upside down at times or the image is doing a horizontal rolling making it unusable or going blank and also is distracting when trying to back up and the image catches your eyes while backing up.

I am driving a 2015 Dodge Journey. Randomly, the airbag light came on, followed by loss of all electronics on the steering wheel. The horn will not work, nor any of the switches on the steering wheel. I did find that this is a common issue with Dodge vehicles under recall 18v332000 and 17v432000. I was told at the dealership that my specific Dodge Journey did not group into that recall however is experiencing those same issues. I am unsure if the airbag will even deploy in this state, coupled with the failure of the horn, this vehicle is not safe to drive.
Vehicle has oil cooler leak which plastic oil filter casing and oil cooler adapter cracked and leaked. Oil pooled up on top of engine casing channel below intake plenum and dripped down to electrical connectors that go into transmission. Engine oil heated and smoked because of heated motor and smoke goes into vehicle cabin causing oil smoke film inside with occupants. Oil mist is in the inside windshield and outside windshield along with wipers. There is a recall for this year Journey 2015 this year engine 3. 6 vet and transmission combination fwd 6spd ;however, the VIN number is not applying to correct the oil cooler and filter replacement under a recall. There is an upgraded part made that does not fail s44 recall; however I had to pay full price for the repair at a dealership and they replaced with the upgraded recalled part. The recall for this repair is s 44 why was not my VIN and vehicle covered under this recall number? please include my VIN number in this recall as well since everything is the same for s44.
While driving on the freeway some of the lights on my dash kit up and all the sudden my car would not go over 15 mph. I tried to turn it off and turn it back on and it continued to do the same thing. I did have my grandkids in the car.
Lighting bolt with parentheses came on along with off road sign. I was unable to accelerate past 20 mph and then I just rolled to a stop in morning traffic with my flashers on. I took it to dealership and they replaced my key battery since I told them I was also having problems lock and unlocking my car. I was told this should solve the problem. It did for about 3 weeks now lights back on car won’t accelerate only till and it’s shaking bad.
Recently I have been having issues with the rear back up camera in the vehicle not working turning off beeping when nothing is around, also glitching and showing the camera upside down. I am also experiencing battery drainage in the vehicle I have just had the battery replaced and the alternator replaced as well, while I am searching online for common issues this seems to be happening to a large amount of people and the issues just keep equaling out to more then one problem. Motors staying on, electrical problems, constant power draws, many more issues I have many links to articles with Dodge Journey owners having numerous issues and Dodge not wanting to fix anything or recall things to fix their mistakes. I can add links to this page. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
