Randomly my car will start just fine one day then the next it will fail to start sometimes on the same day. I have actually been stuck somewhere because my car has failed to start. It just makes a clicking noise when turning the key to start the car. I usually have to wait a while for it to finally start. This happens randomly when parked for short periods or long periods. I notice when it's hot and humid is when I usually have the problem more. I recently changed my starter and it's still giving me the issue. Also have changed and had the battery replaced and still the same issue and again just happens randomly.
Something wrong with it stating as sometimes it won't start. I replaced starter and still same issue, I have to pur it in neutral and try to start it and eventually it does but it shouldn't be this way also it stop working as I was driving getting ready to make a turn and I had to restart it but once again it wouldn't start the first few times which I had to put in neutral and I was in the city traffic very dangerous.
Intermittent starting issues for the past 3 years. Replaced the starter twice within that time frame.

Problem started with 2014 didge Journey sxt going into limp mode. Code that appeared were throttle body sensor, changed that. It went into limp mode immediately after and code was throttle body, changed that. It went into limp mode immediately again. Same codes. Sent to shop they said it was the transmission, $220 for an overhaul of that. 2 to 3 weeks after, limp mode again. Same codes. Brought it to Dodge dealership and the diagnosis it saying I need a new pcm and wire harness. Those items were replaced. 2 to 3 weeks after that work. Car goes into limp mode again while on the hwy. Car is currently at Dodge dealership again, now they're saying it's the starter causing the problem. This issue has been since July 2019 and is still ongoing, last limp mode was Sunday December 15, 2019. I have tons of documentation of the work that has been done please advise if you should need any.
The vehicle will stall on cranking which a red light will light up you will have to get under vehicle and tap starter constantly to crank. Starter has been replaced 2x problem still happens its spark fire under car. The vehicle will be cut off stationed after a drive then it was crank period until 20 min . When parked to get in and drive it want start. Has been test on machine battery good starter good and transmission it detected and electrical. Also when unlocking doors only 3 doors will unlock one you hot unlock wipers will come on.
Vehicle has repeatedly had problems starting after driving for any length of time. It will start cold, no problem. Battery and starter all checked and tested as good. It is believed to be due to a bad ground connection, but not 100% sure. My wife and children have been stranded several times due to this issue. Many times, the vehicle will have to be turned off for at least 30 minutes (sometimes up to 2 hours) before it will start.

When trying to start vehicle I just get a click sound near the dash and no start. All light come on but no start. This has been and ongoing issue for two months and would selectively start when it wanted. Now it will not start at all. This has caused my battery to drain. Battery, alternator and starter all test fine. Research points towards the win module but my VIN was not issued in the previous recall.
The 2010 Dodge Journey will randomly start honking, even when driving or sitting in traffic. It may be a long honk or several short beeps. After parking it will not start, there is power going to the vehicle, it just won't start. Have had battery changed, starter checked and alternator checked. . . All in good condition. It seems to have the mechanics stumped as to what to do in order to correct these problems. It has been ongoing for some time now, and after researching other 2010 Dodge Journey problems, it seems that this issue with honking and not starting is a huge issue. There are videos all over youtube and comments in car forums talking about the same problems and Dodge mechanics have no clue as to what to do, while the Dodge company simply does not care that these cars not as reliable as they should be.
My car is constantly unable to start im being told due to electrical issues. Ive replaced the starter, battery, & alternator. There are all kinds of forums telling you ways around getting the car to start but no real fixes. Some people spending hundreds and thousands trying to fix this issue by replacing fuse boxes, adding cables, replacing the entire computer system and more to no avail. While others just park the car until its paid off or sell it. Its not fair and its inconvenient. Dodge Journeys 2009+ are all experiencing these issues.
Car was driven 180 miles, then turned off for 30 minutes, attempted to restart car. Power went to the gauges, but engine did not turn over (no starting noise). Jump starting the battery did not work. Engine turned over after turning the fob key a 7th time. Dealership replaced battery, alternator, and starter. Problem still occurring when vehicle is stationary - it's an apparent random ability to start engine. Mechanic is stumped. Internet comments state that Chrysler-brand cars have apparently been dogged with power module failures for years, which can cause airbag non-deployment, fires, stalling, unintended acceleration, headlamp problems, and damage to other components. In particular, 2007 to 2014 model year cars are said to be affected. A California lawsuit succeeded in obtaining reimbursement for tipm (fuse box) replacements, diagnosis, rental car expenses, and unnecessary repairs done to fix a non-start or stall condition as a result of a vehicle's tipm fuel pump relay failure. Oddly enough, before the non-start problem occurred the vehicle's horn would engage while the car was parked (and not accidentally turned on via wireless fob). Mechanic could not find reason for that, either.
After parking the car, going into a store and returning to the car - it would not start. The push button would not work. Nothing came up on the screen. I was stranded until someone gave me a ride. Afterwards, a mechanic checked the vehicle. He said that the alternator is good, the battery is good, the starter is good, all the fuses and relays are good. He said that this issue seemed to be related to a problem in the computer. I looked online and found that this is a very common problem in Dodge vehicles. I have tried all of the tips that I can find online in videos and forums, but the car still won't start. I purchased this vehicle used about a month ago.

I bought this Dodge Journey sxt last yr 2/16/2018, I asked the salesman if there's any recalls or anything wrong with this car. . He said only need to replace the rear tires. . I contacted a lemon law lawyer the next day after getting the tires replaced bc he lied to me, the tie rod & ball joint had to be replaced, on top of that I found out there are (4) recalls on my car that were never taken care of, so Dodge chyrsler dealership replaced the front/back airbags in (Mar/April)of year 2018. . I received the recalls to my phone, to top that off I purchased this vehicle in cash over ($4,263. 00), the lemon law lawyer told me to go to a website to get the history on my car I bought, it was involved in a car accident on passenger side on (10/18/2017). . I was lied to totally, I almost got rear ended bc the transmission stopped on me, my sister raised $$ to get transmission replaced, now had to put new brakes/new battery/new starter/another new tire/ then the hub assembly broke along with the sway bar arm, the electrical system is faulty & car starts but then if I go anywhere & then try to start to go home, it won't start & the fob key needs to be replaced as well. . This car is a safety hazard, too many problems that shouldn't be happening. . It has stopped on me too many times to count, I'm at thee point I afraid to drive it. . This vehicle has (2 recalls) that have not been taken care of yet, I had to call canada to tell them I bought the vehicle bc they didn't have me as the new owner, I didn't get any recall notices in the mail bc I just bought this car last yr & it was at a dealership, they never took care of the recalls,, I was sent a notice to my credit karma acct telling me there's 4 recalls but the airbags are dismissed bc they were taken care of,. I have 2 recalls that have not been repaired. My ignition switch hasn't worked from the day I bought this car,it's loose.
The car will not start sometimes, with no reasoning behind it. Battery and alternator have both been tested as good in 3 different locations. I can turn it and it will make one click but not turn over and start. However, all the lights works, I can use power locks, radio, lights, charge port but yet the car will not turn over and start. I've read online to put the car in neutral when this happens and it will start. I have not tried it yet because it has not happened since I got it tested. Each time it will usually start on it's on after turn the key on and off several times. Also, the starter has been tested and is in good condition. All reasoning anyone can give me is an electrical defect. It has been happening for the last 2 months and getting more frequent.
My 2013 Dodge Journey has a random no start. It will just click. The battery, alternator, and starter are all good. I usually have to jump it to get it to start. Sometimes that doesn't even work. It will make the lights start to go haywire. They will flicker or flash on and off. It will say no key detected when I'm literally sitting with my key fob in hand. It is a push button start. I have got the batteries replaced in the key fob as well. This will happen at random. It's happened in my driveway with a slight incline so we parked it on the curb where it was flat to see of maybe the incline of the driveway had anything to do with it, but it's done it on flat surfaces as well. I have tried to look up reasons why and have seen this as an issue with a lot of other Journey owners. This started back in the spring and happens several times in a week then it will stop for almost a month and the cycle will start all over again.

This is just too much. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. Sometimes it crank and then it won't. I can get in it and drive to work, but by the time I get off it will not do anything. The lights and radio work but the car will not turn over. It's like it will work for awhile but after turning it off it could take hours to start up again if it starts up. And yes I have also tried the putting the car in nuetral, but when it don't turn over you can not change the gears. I don't hear any cranking noise, the truck just lights up. I have had a new starter, battery, and alternator put on. I have had this truck pull home on a tow truck from work and soon as they unhook it it will starts up. . . I have two young kids and I have had the experience of going to a gas station in the evening after getting off work and after turning off the car it will not crank. The horn just starts honking on its own sometimes, and the theft system alarm light almost never stops blinking. I have spent more than I almost paid for the vehicle, and still have to uber places. This is a major issue that needs to be resolved. Took it to the Dodge dealership and they want you to leave your vehicle there for about 4 days and want to call you with a ridiculous money quote. Come on Dodge how much more do your customers have to suffer from a problem you don't want to fix. A very concerned consumer and parent.
This vehicle has had multiple issues. Starter sounds like it's sticking at start of engine this has always been a problem since we got the vehicle. In 2018 I had to replace the battery and the alternator because the car would shut off while driving, at one point with my 5yr old daughter exiting the freeway(a very scary and extremely unsafe experience) replaced water pump and top front hose after I found puddle of fluid from coolant tank. Other work done ,replaced cv joints, loud clicking when sharp turns were made and shocks and struts replaced. Then all of a sudden the car shuts off while driving as it did before alternator was fixed. Now I'm experiencing more electrical issues lights turning on and off on their own, ac will blow air some times and other times no air at all. The traction light comes on and car will not go over 20-30 mph. Gas will not rev up. Going to get car towed to the mechanic today to diagnose . Seems to be a lot of people experiencing similar issues with this vehicle model. Something needs to be done, will be calling Chrysler and Dodge dealership.
Remote starter doesn't work keypad will not open doors alarm keeps going off when opening doors when opening doors anytime.
I've had the car for 2 years. Since I've had it, it would randomly not start, the heat would only work in the back vents. Got everything fixed associated with starter, battery, everything. For the last 6 months, my engine like has been on, and an esp light. I got the engine checked, brakes fixed, routers, brake pedal switch replaced and it's still doing the exact thing. Gear won't shift sometimes but it isn't the transmission. Now they are saying possible electrical issue but this has been going on for months! after I've put more than 1000 into everything that has not fixed the issue.
I have just paid to have my grandson's Dodge Journey repaired. The dealer said there was a recall on this problem but not for our VIN number. He could not start the vehicle and there were multiple flashing lights. They found water in the abs unit, wire shortage going to the starter, they installed 68194693af replaced the abs hya unit and module at a cost of $577. 50. The total cost to service the car to make it start was $1218. 55. I consider this to be a safety hazard for a college student that depends on a safe car. The vehicle started cutting out on the interstate with the car going 65-70 mph. He pulled into his drive and turned the ignition off, lights started flashing and he could not restart the vehicle. It was towed to the dealership by aaa and was there for 4 weeks. It was picked up today 4/03/2019. The date it happened is an estimate.

First major problem is car starts when it feels like it, had to replace starter ($520) in the first week that I owned the vehicle after getting a jump several times I purchased I jump kit ($125)in case it wouldnt start and there were no other cars around then the jump kit wouldnt even work. So I had to have the car towed ($130) and the starter replaced. If I shut the car off and try to start it again 10 mins later it wont start but if you wait about an hour, it will start. This still happens after having the starter replaced so I have to keep the car running or risk being stranded for an hour or so. Second problem, about a month after buying the vehicle I was on the highway and was using the cruise control, was going down a hill and the rpms went all the way up into the red and high as it could then went down to zero and the engine completly stalled while on the highway. Since then I haven't used the cruise control. Thirdly, the passanger side has zero heat. The defroster, the heat vents on the dash and the heat vents at the feet all blow out cold air. Fourth problem, the horn would honk randomly, while driving or parked. 5th problem the key fob does what it wants when it wants. Came out of the mall and my alarm was going off (just the lights I had to remove the horn fuses because of the honking issue) and could not turn the alarm off or unlock the doors with the fob, had to use the actual key from inside the fob to get in the car and then start it, shut if off then I was able to shut off the alarm. 6th problem the car will randomly unlock when I'm not even holding the key fob and the front windows will roll down half way. This car has been nothing but issues since I bought it Dodge needs to have a recall for this vehicle there are so many safety issues! bought this car because I wanted a safe vehicle for my family and this car had been anything but!.
Occasionally car will not start. A few hours later it will start. Happens 3x per month for past 6 months. Also windshield wipers occasionally will not work. Battery, starter, & alternator test good. Suspected problem is within the tipm.
The car was in motion on a city street the first time the engine just turned off then we where on the highway with big rigs behind and on sides when engine just suddenly shut off it was my husband driving the first time andwe had our kids in the back and a friend also it was a very frightening experience I told my huband dont panic push the starter button to turn off the car because u couldn't give it gas because engine was off but car still on in gear then thankfully the first time we it was not busy at the time we my husband pushed the start button and car was in off mode and then waited a few minutes before turning car back on by pressing the starter button and then we proceeded to enter the highway and about two miles down you feel a pull and the engine turned off again at speed from 75 to quick decrease in speed he veered off to the shoulder with cars and big rigs around us to the shoulder and pushed the ignition button to the off position and waited a few mins prayed and the car started after pushing the ignition button took it to the dealer the next day as that was night and it took a day for the dealership to say the car was fine it might be. . Exact words the engine crank shaft but it was working fine for the techs so it was at my choice to have it changed or not. It seemed to be working fine. The engine light that had turned on after the engine shut off was off so I decided it was just a glitch and car was ok. Here I am 2 weeks later and the car keeps doing the same thibg on the highway and street it is aweful, I have a all power train warrantee and the dealership says the engine crankshaft is not a part covered by warrantee please help others not get seriously injured or even die from a crash due to this not to detectable defect.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously included in and repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14v373000 (electrical system, air bags). The contact stated that shortly after the vehicle was repaired, it became difficult to start the vehicle. The contact stated that to start the vehicle, the ignition was placed in the on position and the starter was tapped to start the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to baxter Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram bellevue (7713 s 19 th st, bellevue, ne 68147, (402) 800-1256) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to provide a cause for the failure. The contact stated that three months after the recall repair, while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000. The VIN was not included.
I've had my truck two years and I have replaced the starter 5 times. I just replaced it on 11-11-18. Today is 11-17-18 and its going out again. I've heard that all the 2009 and 2010 are having the same problems. And the repair shops don't know whats gping on.
My Dodge Journey will leave me stranded, in what it seems, the most inconvenient times. This issue will happen at least twice a week now. I will turn the ignition and tried to start the car, but all I'll get is a "click" sound. Sometimes putting the car in neutral works, most of the time doesn't. Sometimes I can't even get the car out of park, even when the key is inserted and moved to start. What it seems to work almost everytime is to wait it out. It's a huge waste of time, but I've waited anywhere from 18 minutes up to 1 hour and 34 minutes. I've taken the SUV on multiple occasions to the dealership and spend more than $2,000 in apparent fixes that doesn't do anything. I've done recalls for the ignition and the wire harness, as well as replacing the battery (twice), starter (three times) and the neutral safety position switch (once). Called Dodge on multiple occasions, but their response is that they don't know what's causing this problem and that apparently there's not enough complaints about this issue. This is the vehicle my wife uses to go to work and take the kids around. I've read that some people, their vehicles, just stopped working in the middle of the street while they were driving. Super unsafe and Dodge doesn't want to take responsibility for their malfunction.
Bought a used 2009 Dodge Journey in February, have replaced the battery and starter in the last few months. Sometimes we can start the car normally, sometimes you have to jump the car off. Yesterday, the car would not shift or start, tried the neutral safety switch which enabled me to push the Journey but still would not crank. Research online shows that many other consumers have or are experiencing the same problem. I feel Dodge needs to take responsibility and figure out why these vehicles are malfunctioning. It's costing us money and time we do not have trying to chase down an electrical issue. I even had the pcm checked out and it too was in a good bill of health.
For the millenth time since purchasing this car in 2014 it failed to start again!!! I have had ever mechanic under the sun check electrical connections, batteries, starters, alternators, fuses etc. They find nothing wrong but the car continues to simpley not start. I've read a lot of people have the same problem with this car. Did anyone ever figure out why and what Dodge is doing about it? sometimes it happens when my car is parked angled. Sometimes on flat pavement. I got stuck with my newborn daughter shortly after I purchased the car and went back to depaula dealer I purchased it from in albany NY and they apologized and said they checked everything and nothing is wrong with the car. I'm scared to be stuck with my kids somewhere and honestly tired of sending it to the mechanic only to hear they can't find anything wrong. Any ideas or directions to give the mechanic would be great. Does Dodge actually have the answer and just don't want to issue a recall. I don't care if I have to pay to get it fixed. I just want to know what needs to be fixed!!! thank you.
Car intermittently will not start no error code comes up. Dealership has replaced the battery, alternator, and starter and the issue is still happening. I've taken it to several mechanics and they are unable to resolve. When trying to start the car it only clicks and won't start. This is when vehicle is stationary and its been going on for months.
Faulty tipm . Car starts intermittently. Dealerships and all mechanics are unable to resolve. There are Dodge forums everywhere complaining about this problem why wont Dodge recall it already? my antitheft light comes on and disables the car. When trying to start the car, some days it starts and some days it doesn't. No error codes coming up. The dealership has replaced battery, alternator, neutral safety switch, and starter.
Have had intermittent starting issues as I have found do many other owners of this vehicle. Turn key fob and no start. Starter and battery have been changed. Many similar complaints online. I was told by mechanic until it is no start at all, dealer able to duplicated or check engine light illuminates for code nothing they can be done. Been dealing with this issue intermittently for 3 years.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Dodge Journey. While the contact's son was driving 40 mph, the dashboard was emitting extreme heat on the floor and fire emerged from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. A police report was not filed. The driver extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat of concord (7630 hendrick auto plaza NW, concord, nc 28027, (704) 467-8270) where it was diagnosed that the engine cylinder was faulty and there was no oil in the vehicle. Also, the starter, battery, and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 46,000.
On numerous occasions, this car will not start. When turning the key it will click but not turn over. I have had if into the mechanics several times, they have tested the starter, had the spark plugs changed, including the wires. Still intermittently will not start. Especially if it's hot out or car is hot. Some times it takes multiple turns of the fob to turn over engine. I have read car gurus forums and hundreds complain of this same issue. It does sometimes start if you depress brake pedal then put it in neutral position then turn key and it will start. This has been going on now for about 2 yrs and no mechanic can seem to figure out the issue. I had shut my vehicle off the other day while waiting for a long train to pass at a crossing, as soon as the train passed and was able to cross over tracks, the Dodge Journey would not restart, was almost rear ended from cars behind me. Took multiple attempts to start this vehicle. There is clearly an outstanding ignition issue with this vehicle. When I contacted Dodge dealership they also were aware of this intermittent issue but had no solution. Someone needs to look at this issue as a serious problem. A rear end collision can cause airbags to deploy as well causing injuries, all because your car won't restart if you turn ignition off due to traffic delays or train crossings.
Car experiences intermittent ignition failure. While stationary with key in ignition, it will click but not start. We have replaced the battery, alternator, and starter but it continues to have issues starting over the past 3 months. Sometimes it will start fine, but other times it takes several tries over a period of 30 minutes. The mechanics cannot find the solution to this problem even when able to duplicate the issue.
