We purchased our 2010 Dodge Journey from an auction. Right away there were all sorts of electronic issues with various bells & whistles. Most of these were solved once we purchased a new fob & had it programmed. However, most importantly, the horn will blow without touching the steering wheel. It will blow while the vehicle is running and when the vehicle is off, does not matter. My husband had to disconnect the horn under the hood in order to get it to stop. We have taken it to an independent service center and the mechanic could not find why the horn will not stop blowing. I discussed this issue with the dealership and they indicated the vehicle needs an update, however, after much researching on the web many many people have had the update completed at the dealership and the horn issues started again 2 weeks later, many much sooner. Our vehicle has not been inspected by anyone else. Also, there are no warning lamps in regards to the horn that have come on. We are looking into having a separate horn installed on the vehicle, due to the safety issue. Dodge needs to have a recall in regards to this horn issue that could cost someone their life, it's quite unbelievable they have not done so. (see below- "approximate date this incident occurred", our issue is ongoing, we bought the vehicle on 08-14-2021. ).

Horn randomly started going off while while stationary/off. No one touching keys or vehicle. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
We were driving on a city street and suddenly the electrical went crazy. The horn started going off repeatedly, the wipers turned on and wouldn't shut off, the wiper fluid kept spraying, the blinker lights kept blinking, and it continued even after we turned off the car. I was in the middle of driving and couldn't see anything because of the windshield fluid's constant spraying and could have easily gotten into a wreck if there were other cars around. The only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery. If I had been on the freeway, it could have ended very badly. It was most likely a faulty tipm after researching and finding multiple complaints from other people with the same issue. This has been recalled on others vehicles but not on this specific model, which I'm not understanding why that is the case, since it seems to be just as dangerous in our model as the ones they recalled.

The horn is beeping when not in vehicle. Also when driving it randomly beeps.
On our way to the coast my headlight went out completely and had to use only to day lights and fog light no headlight would come on they would only flicker. I was still a hour from the coast and 3 hours from home in the middle of the night. The horn goes off randomly and is annoying same with the wind shield wipers. They go at random and are not needed. The horn is when I am stationary. The wipers go at anytime moving or stopped. The car acts possessed. I am scared to drive at night due to the headlights functionality I had my nephew with me when I had the headlights stop working and I will not put him in danger again. This needs fixed.
Steering wheel controls no longer working, horn will not work and air bag light is randomly coming on and off. I believe that the clock spring mechanism is faulty and has caused wiring to become worn do to poor quality of part and installation during manufacturing. This vehicle is not even 5 years old,so problems with major safety components and controls are the direct lack of quality control upon installation. Other recalls related to similar issues and vehicle type are consistent from manufacturer. Do to the over all safety hazard of this fault I would expect the manufacture to help assist in repair to avoid possible injuries and law suits. Thank you for your time and hopefully resolution to a serious issue!.

Driving on highway and engine died. Dash lights and gauges flashed off and on. Speedometer went back and forth. Then it started running again. A couple days later it died while turning a corner. I had to restart vehicle. A couple days after that I went to start the car and no lights, gauges or nothing worked. The battery and remote key were fine. Checked to see if horn would blow, it worked. Tried to start again and everything worked fine. It is very unsafe for it to just die white on the highway goin around a curve.

The horn begins to sound on its own and at short and/or long burts and a combination of both while driving or parked all hours of the day. There is no way to stop this. This can cause severe accidents!.
The horn on our 2010 Dodge Journey just started going off all by itself while my wife was stopped at a light. The driver in front of her proceeded to get out of their vehicle and point their finger and use some foul language towards my wife. To us this is a huge safety issue and upon doing some research our car is not the only one that this has happened to. We contacted fca and their answer was it's out of warranty. Really my wife could of been injured or even shot at. Please help us get this resolved before it's too late and someone gets hurt or even killed. Right now we have to drive around in this car without a horn because I had to take the fuses out and if that isn't a safety issue I don't know what is. This is going to be about a $500. 00 fix which we do not have.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle horn randomly start to honk while on and off independently. The air bag and tire warning lights illuminated. The contact concerned for her safety. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately. 171,000. Aw.
My horn randomly blows while parked. Vehicle is in park and the doors are shut and locked. No one around the vehicle. It has happened 4 times today. Once I get out to the vehicle to investigate the problem the horn stops blowing on its own. When it happens numerous times or continuously it runs the battery down.

Horn honks randomly 24 hours a day regardless of weather temperature and/or vehicle on or off.
I was driving down the highway and my car stalled completely. I had to coast to the side of the highway and try to restart my car. Also, have issues with battery being drained of all power, had to replace battery. My horn randomly beeps whether driving or not. Alarm system will sound all hours of night, had to pull fuse. Since then the hazard lights randomly blink off and on. The day after the engine stalled on me, now have a check engine light on and code is throwing out its the erg valve system and gasket. . . These are big issues and need to be repaired. I'm not happy with these issues and Dodge needs to do something about it.
Started with random horn blowing. I had to take fuses out of tipm to stop this. About 1 year later the battery died. Rwould not take a jump. Had car towed to a garage and eplaced the battery, it was dead again 3 weeks later. It would not take a jump. Had car towed to a different garage, they said I needed a new battery. The garage managed to jump start the car and I drove it home with many dash lights blinking and the power/engine limping along. This is apparently a widespread problem with the tipm. This should be a recall.
Vehicles horn goes off randomly; while driving, stationary, while it's on or off, hot or cold. Relays are in good condition.
I just bought a 2010 Dodge Journey and I had to take the 2 fusses out bc the horn keeped going off by its self.
For a a few years now I have dealing with horn honking on its own. In the middle of the night, while driving, while parked randomly. I've been trying to solve the issue and nothing works. I read lots of complaint with the same issue on Dodgeforum. Com but again no solution. On 2/17/20 I nearly had a bad accident because I dont have a horn, I've been taking out the fuse because of the random honking while driving. This has happened to me more than once almost getting into accidents because if horn issue. I commute 2 hours a day for work sometimes more and do not feel safe using car but have no choice. For so many years no solution to problem by Dodge.
For no reason the car battery discharges the horn sounds by itself.
Tl the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the brake lights failed intermittently. Additionally, the horn activated independently, the right turn signal was inoperable, and the tailgate failed to operate as designed. The contact also stated that the vehicle stalled while stationary and idling. The contact who works as a certified mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a failure of the tipm. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
When u turn key in ignition it doesn't always start you have to keep trying,,,it will go days without starting then start for several days have had to tow unit twice windows come down by themselves when vehicle not running when u go to put it in drive it won't move out of park unless you turn off engine and restart vehicle horn goes off whenever it wants too car doesn't always unlock when you use remote or relock itself.
Horn blew intermittently at first when shutting doors, and occasionally for no reason. Windows would go down part way when doors were shut. Ignition would sometimes just click click when key is turned, wipers would move when not engaged to be on. Battery would go complexly dead for no reason and then be ok for a month or two and then do it again. Had to disconnect the horn a few years ago as it would not stop going off. Has been in to kayer Chrysler, Dodge service several times and they could not find issue. They just called and said they founsd. Short in the main electrical component and it will cost $1100plus for part and up to $200 to install. We have had these issues since we bought it. Oh yeh heat and air on passenger side quit working a few winters ago, and the doors fill with water in every rain storm. Park on a hill after a rain and doors will drain for hours. We have friends that have bought Journeys and say they have no problems really. Can't believe there s not a recall for such a mess. Oh yes and occasionally it will not shift all gears and I need to pull ver on highway, turn off ignition and restart and it usually works. Wish I weren't retired on limited income, I would get rid of it before I get killed. Iyt only has 1000,000 miles. Hopefully it matures soon,1.
When turning one day my horn honked by itself. I thought my hand slipped and accidentally honked the horn then a few days later while driving straight I heard it again. It honked twice by itself, causing the person in front of me to slam on their brakes and almost caused a crash. That same day I heard it while the vehicle was off. I was I side and my horn honked at least 15 times by itself. I knew it wasn't my keys because my key fob had been disconnected from my car.
My 1010 Dodge Journey horn intermittently honks non-stop. No pattern to the honking. Does it when engine is off, on, or when driving. Chrysler/Dodge dealership had car from 8 am to 5:30 pm. Removed steering wheel, rerouted wome wires. Envoice said said 'referred to star case s150800292. Checked key fobs, one tested good, the other was intermittent at times'. They found no problem. Said for he to advise them if it happens again. Paid $116. 13 for diagnosis, but found no problem as to why horn would honk randomly. Drove home, parked car in garage, no honking. Next morning went into garage & horn started blasting on & off intermittently. Had to pull left & right horn relays (once again) from fuse box. Still no answers, still no horn. With road rage the way it is today, I find this to be a major safety issue, that should have been addressed years ago. I've found many frustrated 2010 Dodge Journey owners on a Dodge forum, with same problem, and no answers. Paying a lot of money to Dodge dealers, with no results or answers.
Vehicle randomly started flashing messages on screen, wind shield wipers turned on, all lights on dash were going on and off, engine failed and breaks quit working completely, turn signals and horn also started going off. All indications that computer lost connection with vehicle temporarily. There has also been another issue since the vehicle was purchased new in 2016 where during sharp turns the front tires makes a very loud grinding noise. We were told by the dealer they couldn't find what was wrong and to wait for recall. Where is the recall? vehicle was stationary and in motion with the computer issue. Vehicle was in motion with steering issue.
As I was driving I tired to turn the wheel to go around a small curve on a city street and it wouldn't turn. I could feel the car staring to die. As I put the car in park to turn the ignition off the break pedal would not work. I was able to turn the car off and restart without any issues. Later my horn started honking on its own. And continues to honk randomly. Also the alarm randomly went off once yesterday. Today it has randomly honked all afternoon.
Horn starts beeping when parked. This is not happening all the time but occasionally at night when parked in our driveway or garage when we are sleeping and the horn chirping wakes us up. When I check on it it is silent. When parked in parking lot I was told my horn was going off and when I went out to check it was no longer making any noise. This past week while parked in my driveway, it started honking constantly to the point I had to remove the 2 fuses for it to stop.
When u turn key in ignition it doesn't always start you have to keep trying,,, windows come down by themselves when vehicle not running when u go to put it in drive it won't move out of park unless you turn off engine and restart vehicle horn goes off whenever it wants too car doesn't always unlock when you use remote or relock itself all these things happen when not in motion this all happens at different times in the last few months we have paid to get it reprogrammed.
Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle horn began to operate independently without warning. The horn eventually stopped ceased to blow; however, the failure would continue to occur intermittently. The contact decided to unplug the horn for 8 months, as of recent, he reactivated the horn and the failure returned. The vehicle had not been taken to a dealer to be serviced and the manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was unknown. Jo.
Takara recall. The horn will randomly go off. And so will the alarm.
The vehicle continuously stalls while I'm driving. I have not driven on the highway because it's a major safety issue. The horn goes off crazily sometimes while parked. And, recently while driving locally in my neighborhood the car over heated. The engine light comes on off , and sometimes I have to wait a while before I can get the car to start. I have brought it to a private mechanic on numerous occasions and he's unsure of what's going on and questions recall. I have spent thousands of dollars and it's been a frustrating Journey with this Journey.
Takata recall : urgent: overtime I've had electrical issues which effects not just the plug inserts inside the vehicle but also my alarm system foes not work and my horn just does not work anymore, air bag light that popped up on my dashboard which I feel maybe some wires might be detached but scares me that when I drive the air bag wont detect if I get into an accident, also I recently just had an issue with my engine cooling and started to smoke out of nowhere while on the freeway and ended up getting stuck for hours but even if I drive for a few seconds the gauge shoots to hot right away and and coolant started leaking everywhere. I have attached the 6 out of 10 recalls that did not get done. I brought my car into bud clary's of auburn in March of 2019 and had 4 recalls taken care of. I have advised that I still had 6 orhers that were reported back in 2015 that I never got done and wanted to take care of that as well. Was told that it does not show in the system and I would need to contact NHTSA for more details. Ive reached out to a few people who gave me the same information.
Electrical issues: first occurrence: alarm system kept going off even when the key was in ignition, only way to solve issue was to unhook horn. Second occurrence: passenger side window will not roll down with power buttons on passenger side, however will roll down from driver side. Although every once in a while it will out of the blue work. Third occurrence: without pressing on the key fob if anything rubs up against the key fob it unlocks car just lightly brushing skin against it but pressing the unlock will not unlock it. Fourth occurrence windows are rolling down on their own. At least once a day I will look outside and the windows are rolled down half way and its been 22 degree temps outside so I know for a fact they are not being rolled down intentionally, ive witnessed on one occasion them actually rolling down on their own.
While driving the horn started honking on it's own. Stopped for a few hours then started blaring on it's own while car was parked and off for a solid hour. Had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop until I can find the fuses. Remove the fuses for a while and it stops. Replace fuses and it starts doing it again. Battery went dead because of not being able to hear the alarm going off when the door handle was pulled while car was locked.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that the horn was not audible when pressing the center of the steering wheel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 3,000.
