1 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2017 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 01/30/2020

To whom it may concern, I left my home and was heading to work when someone ran a stop sign. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid being t-boned. The brakes worked at first, then the peddle pulsed and went to the floor board. I pulled over and looked for brake fluid leaking under the vehicle. After not seeing any, I tried pumping the brakes and the peddle kind of started working again, but if you keep pressure on the peddle, it will go to the floor board. When you drive it, the brakes barley respond for the first 1. 5" to 2" of movement, then most of the braking is in the next 1" to 1. 5" of movement. As you sit at a stop applying pressure. The peddle will go the floor board. You can pump it up to firm, with the vehicle in the off position, but after you start it, the peddle becomes soft and as stated before, goes to the floor board. 2 different dealerships have said this is normal, the brakes did not do this before having to slam on them. It does not feel safe to drive. After doing some research, it seems that the 2018 Dodge Journey is already being recalled for a similar problem. Thank you for time.

2 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2013 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 11/25/2018

Problem began with brake warning indicator light coming on, seemingly at random. Brakes still seemed to be working normally. Then brakes started failing to catch while driving. Regardless of vehicle speed, 10 mph or at highway speeds, brake pedal would go almost to floor and you would have to pump it several times to get the brake to engage. Took it in to my local mechanic and found that fluid was leaking into driver's side interior, diagnosed a faulty master cylinder and booster. Took car to dealership. They serviced all outstanding recalls. They replaced master cylinder and booster at a cost of $982 to us. Brakes worked fine for three weeks then problem started happening again but this time brake warning light is not illuminated. Just as before, sometimes the brakes work normally, other times the pedal goes to the floor and you have to pump the brake pedal until it 'catches'. Taking it back in to dealer - this is a dangerous problem, not knowing if the car is going to stop or not. Judging by the number of reports from motorists and mechanics on various websites, this is obviously a known issue with 2013 Dodge Journey vehicles.

3 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 05/25/2012

Problem description: purchased new 2/26/11 - on 5/25/12 the vehicle had 11764 actual miles. Heard squealing noise when applying brakes - took to dealership and rear rotors warped and rear pads noisy. Dealership replaced rear rotors and pads. Picked up vehicle afternoon of 5/25/12. Drove vehicle home and have only driven vehicle yesterday 5/29/12 and today 5/30/12 to work and, again, the squealing has occurred on my way home (5/30/12). Called the service manager immediately and reported. Am taking into dealership first thing in morning again (5/31/12). [*also please note that on 01/13/12 I had a fluid leak under left front of vehicle and the vehicle was inspected by the dealership where purchased and the dealership had to replace a left axleshaft seal which they stated was a defect. ].
