1 Carrier/rack problem of the 2016 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 01/06/2019

Vehicle while drive fine for many miles usually after driving on the highway but when I need to make a turn it becomes difficult for the vehicle to accelerate and will suddenly jerk forward or pop. My car was recently serviced due to the drive shaft cracking in an abnormal way according to mechanics which costed $4200 I expected the issue to be solved after the repair but it seems to have gotten worse there was a humming sound now while turning I'm afraid the problem may be manufacturer related since it's happening again after the repair.

3 Carrier/rack problem of the 2011 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 01/02/2018

I bought it on October 2011 at the south of florida , since then I had keeping and driving the car at the same location, never tried drive in low temperatures. But, in June 2016 I moved to region where the weather is between 20f or -7c during winter. Then the tail light on the lift stopped working, but it was not burned and no problem with the fuses the battery was dying frequently. This winter the rear wiper stopped working too. Now it was time to discover what's going on . Thus, I found broken wires in the sleeve between body and lift gate, where the wires need be flexible. I can confirm and concluding: the wires installed at the car do not support temperatures bellow 20f or -7c , in these condition the wires crack and broke and causing short-circuit. There are defective wires installed in this make car causing lost of power, short-circuit and letting the car instable. My concern is the others doors may have same defective wires. And it's happenig in any situation, stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning, sincerely.

4 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 09/20/2017

I bought 9/2015 has had 3 transfer cases at 3,000. 00 each and now needs another, cracked and leaking and need seals and a part. . At this point it now needs the intermediate shaft that goes into the transfer case and is not available anywhere in the united states, according to Dodge. I have a loan on this vehicle and unable to drive since sept 20th, 2017. I wrote to the attorney general in massachusetts. Received a letter on oct 12, 2017 from them , telling me to contact your dept right away. I drive my vehicle on city streets. I saw leaking while I was in parking lot at work on sept 15,2017 . I brought back to aamco on sept 16,2017 . Brought it to aamco in turn they called Dodge because this would be number 4 transfer case. I was told, I had to bring to a Dodge dealership, which I did. Aamco put in 3 transfer cases. Harr Dodge in worcester, MA diagnosed my vehicle on sept 20, 2017 and that is when I found out what it needs. With no part available in the entire united states. They need to recall this car now, not years from now . This is a dangerous situation it is part of the driveshaft connection. There have been complaints since 2013 about these transfer cases leaking, cracked , seals leaking driveshaft problems. I don't understand why it is taking so long for someone to do something about this. I want chrsysler Dodge to recall this vehicle and purchase my vehicle back. Also brakes in this vehicle wear at 5, 000 miles and every 5,000 miles which again is a problem. Hundred of complaints since 2012 and this has not been addressed either by this safety commission.

5 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 02/01/2013

I purchased the 2009 Dodge Journey sxt used in 2012. In less then a year I had to replace an axle, then replace a drive shaft. Once the drive shaft was replaced, less then a month later I was driving home and heard a clicking noise. It lasted no longer then a minute and then about 1 mile down the road as I was turning on to my road I heard a loud crack. My vehicle then shook violently as I drove, as if one of the tires might be falling off. I cautiously continued on at no more then 15mph to my drive (maybe 2/10 of a mile). When I pulled in my car was smoking. The next day we had the vehicle towed to a local repair shop, thinking maybe it was a transmission problem. And were informed it was a transfer case needing to be replaced. It had cracked and split down the middle and was leaking fluid. When we called to check on the $1200. 00 part (after already putting in another $1500 in parts and labor to the other two problems) we were informed that the company was over 300 parts behind on them and it could take a while. Great. After immense online research it appears that this is a common problem in the sxt awd version of this vehicle. Had we purchased this vehicle new, it would have been covered under a lifetime warranty, however because it was used we get screwed. If you ask me, Dodge should back its vehicles, no matter what. A recall should be issued and Dodge should have to fix what appears to be a common problem.

6 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

Electrical system failure due to wiring harness melting, radiator cracked because bracket for ac is connected too tight when car is manufactured, battery died prematurely because of failed wires, rotors warped causing car to shake violently when braking. All these problems and others for a car with only 60,000 miles. Have spent over $2000 to date in repairs that numerous people have had related to this vehicle. Based on online complaints and talking to mechanics who have worked on this car no one can believe that the correct electrical recall has taken place. There have been electrical recalls on vehicle, but not for most common failure. No one understands why brake issue has not been recalled and no one understands why the radiators keep failing without a recall. Will it take a serious crash? safety of the consumer is at risk. You pay $20,000 for a car and think it will last awhile. This car has major problems that are consistent from buyer to buyer.

7 Carrier/rack problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 03/19/2011

My wife and I were about an hour from home when the brakes on our 2009 Dodge Journey started squealing very, very loud. I pulled over as soon as possible, got under the car to check. I could not see anything specific and let the car sit idle for about 30 minutes. As soon as I started to drive again, at less than 5mph, the brakes started squealing again, just as loud. I drove to a nearby firestone facility, described the problem and the put it on the rack to check the brakes. The Journey had 29,400 miles on it. . . . . . . And the brakes were completely, totally worn out!! they brought the brakes and rotor for me to see and the rotors were badly grooved. They said they thought the brakes were too small for the size, weight of the vehicle and I tend to agree, especially after reading other complaints online. I was told it would have been close to an act of suicide to continue driving the Journey and I agree. This is outrageous!! and from what I read, Dodge is well aware of the problem but nothing has been done. I am now 08t $300, and could have been involved in a bad accident from failure of the brakes.
