While I was driving on the freeway, a red battery image displayed on the menu center screen. Next day had it checked, was told all was fine, everything check out. . A week later was on freewayagain, headlights flicked, radio went dead(display &sound) twice, engine bogged down briefly. Car is in shop now. . Two days. And no accurate diagnosis. . This is obviously a well-documented problem with this model of vehicle. . Has this caused death? will it lead to death, yes, is there help for the consumers?? I'm aware of numerous electronical problems with these and other Dodge vehicles. As I have owned one in the past with a similar problem. That cost me thousands , and could not be fixed, even by a tech from corporate out of state. . Now with my current situation how can I be confident on the road? also why, when the dealership know(for a fact) their vehicles have these issues. They charge a $180. 00 diagnostic fee, that can not be applied to repair. . Unfair and criminal to put vehicles on the road they know are faulty. . Faulty as in electronic issues that no one can pinpoint. . And it appears that if they throw enough parts at it, maybe that will work. . . These issues must stop!!.

On July 17th 2019. I was gaining speed on an entrance ramp to highway 95n in stafford, va. As I approached 60 mph the SUV's steering wheel locked up on me and I couldn't turn the wheel. I tried the brakes and the brakes wouldn't work they were hard and would not push down. I let it slow itself down and made it to the side of 95n. I then put the SUV in park with hazards on. I exited the SUV to check for any damage and or indications of what caused the svu to lock up while driving. There was no sign of anything that I could see. I returned to the driver's seat restarted the SUV. After noticing that the radio was on but not sure if the truck was on. So I restarted it to be sure the engine was running. I drove it home, 10 minutes down the highway at 50 mph and called the lustine dealership and had it towed to them. I can say that the weather was 98 degrees real feel at 110. This was around 2 in the afternoon. The lustine dealership had my SUV from then until July 22nd. They put over 100 miles on my SUV and said they couldn't duplicate the issue. They told me to just wait and see if it does it again. After having the problem and giving them the SUV I looked on here and saw a SUV with the same exact experience. I told the lustine dealership and gave them an email with this information and they didn't even bother to contact the other dealership listed in the complaint on here. Which did find out the cause. Lustine had my SUV when I gave them the information about the other SUV. Also my SUV had about 26485 when is happened. The lustine dealership didn't even put on my paper work they couldn't duplicate the problem or where in took place.
Precisely on 7. 3. 19 I had 4 of my children with me heading to a holiday parade. My car w/o warning completely stopped in the middle of a road. No power, no brakes, no steering. Air was still blowing; radio still playing. My daughter and I pushed my car to the curb, my husband came and pushed my car further to avoid an accident. After several attempts the car restarted and restarted fine. Drove another . 5 city block; stopped at a stop sign, pulled out and my car died again in the middle of the intersection. My husband was still behind me & pushed us out. We drove home. He looked under the hood, nothing stood out. I didn't get any warnings on the dash. The car has driven fine until 7. 5. 19. My daughter and I just turned onto calumet Ave; a very busy and dangerous road and my car died again. Several cars flying around us laying on their horn. I do not have power to turn, to brake. My daughter and I got out and push my car into a parking lot that has a slight uphill entrance. It was not easy, it was dark outside. A very dangerous situation. I can only flip my hazard lights on, well what does that do when a car is flying up behind me at 40-50mph? I am terrified my car is going to die and my family and I are going to get seriously hurt and/or killed. Reading on the internet there seems to be many people with the same issue and Dodge is not responding. I have children who require trips to indianapolis for medical issues and it is a 3-4 hour drive for us. Speed limit is 70. I cannot afford to trade this in and purchase a new car. I do not where else to go for help. If you call a mechanic or the dealership they tell you that can't help without looking at it. Dodge dealer denies ever hearing of it before which I don't believe. Neither of course will do a free inspection. I get it they're there to make money. Recall should be issued to fix this before it becomes deadly.

I drove my vehicle to the grocery store with no problems. I shopped, came back out and tried to start it. Lights, radio, windows, locks. . . All worked. When trying to start, you hear a single click each time you try. We tried to jumpstart it; there were no changes. It wouldn't start. I had the dealer tow it. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. They ended up getting it to start with no answers for me. They just said they can't figure out whats wrong with it or why it acted the way it did. I did some research. Its common in Dodge Journeys; therefore Dodge should adress the issue.

This is just too much. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. Sometimes it crank and then it won't. I can get in it and drive to work, but by the time I get off it will not do anything. The lights and radio work but the car will not turn over. It's like it will work for awhile but after turning it off it could take hours to start up again if it starts up. And yes I have also tried the putting the car in nuetral, but when it don't turn over you can not change the gears. I don't hear any cranking noise, the truck just lights up. I have had a new starter, battery, and alternator put on. I have had this truck pull home on a tow truck from work and soon as they unhook it it will starts up. . . I have two young kids and I have had the experience of going to a gas station in the evening after getting off work and after turning off the car it will not crank. The horn just starts honking on its own sometimes, and the theft system alarm light almost never stops blinking. I have spent more than I almost paid for the vehicle, and still have to uber places. This is a major issue that needs to be resolved. Took it to the Dodge dealership and they want you to leave your vehicle there for about 4 days and want to call you with a ridiculous money quote. Come on Dodge how much more do your customers have to suffer from a problem you don't want to fix. A very concerned consumer and parent.
2009 Dodge Journey has issues starting intermittently. Seems to be an issue many people post about. If you let the vehicle sit for awhile it will sometimes start back up. Inserting key will make it possible to turn on lights, radio, roll down windows, etc, but the vehicle will not start, only click.
The navigation system in my 2015 Dodge Journey stopped working. It shows no map input/navigation system not on vehicle. I heard this has been happening a lot on Dodge Journeys. I took it in and the will have to replace the whole radio/system. I was driving when it shut down. Luckily, I knew where I was going but I drive out of town a lot with my grandkids and depend on the navigation system. That is one of the main reasons I bought a vehicle with a navigation system so I won't get lost.
Not vehicle specific. There is much concern over distracted driving. Cars produced today can not be driven without viewing the dashboard video display. Climate controls, radio, etc. Video display is constantly displaying information which requires driver to take eyes off the road. I believe backup cameras are useful, but should only display video when in reverse. Cell phone distractions. Electronically disable cell phones while vehicle is moving. May signal an incoming call, but must stop vehicle to respond.
Radio goes out and vehicle not able to be used all controls in head unit complained about it 6 times and still nothing cant operate lights and safety equiptment.

The main screen for uconnect went dark after turning on the car (parked). No radio, no a/c control, nothing in the center console would work. We live in FL and no a/c is a big problem, specially when you have a toddler and a baby. I went to my destination with the dead console. I went back in the car, this time everything was ok. I called fca and their answer was "go to a dealer and pay for a diagnostic, if there is a problem we'll refund you" I don't think that is correct when we are on warranty and when they know this is not an isolated issue. I found several cases of people going thru the same, they suggest reboot, factory reset and other non-sense. Check this video (link) and you have evidence of several problem with this system. This also is being going on since at least 2012. . Read more...
Just replaced battery. Was working and starting fine after replacing for a few weeks. Went to work yesterday morning and left for lunch with no issues. Went to start car to return to work after lunch and wouldn't turn over at all. I would turn the key and get one click but not turning over. My radio, lights and windows all work when key is in the on position. Charged the battery for nearly 40 minutes and still no start only a click. Have also had on-going issues with wiring harnesses throughout vehicle.
For over 2 years I've tried various things to get my reverse lights to work. Checked fuses, checked the bulbs. One day my reverse lights stopped working, my hatch stopped locking and unlocking while all other doors complied. And some of my brake lights stopped working. After vigorously youtubing, I found a video on changing the liftgate wiring. Where I found my issue. This is a serious fire hazard!! when I removed the wiring harness, 4 of my wires looked as though they had been cut. No wonder things weren't working. . After using electrical connectors and electrical tape my reverse lights are now fixed. However, knowing I could've died in a car fire just doesn't sit well for me and my children.

5-10-18 had to bring my vehicle in for a new tire and prior to the tire, the abs light would intermittently pop on and off. This would happen mostly after I started the vehicle and after backing up and traveling a few feet, it would sound and feel like it would catch and grind, then release after traveling about a mile, it would go off. When I brought it in to get the tire replaced, I asked them to look at it, they said the abs light was coming on because the battery was faulty and they replaced the battery. (I think maybe they just reset something) I asked them to give me an itemized list of parts changed for the work, and I never received it. I only received the invoice for the tire. Now. . . . Rear ended in Dec 27, 2018 - between the accident and time it took holidays/insurance to get me an appointment with dealer, the abs light started to pop on again and the radio screen grayed out and came back on(so far that has only happened once). My husband let them know to check that as well because there was impact damage on the left front bumper and dealer only repaired the damages reported by adjuster and didn't address the abs/radio issue. So. . . . . Now what? feel like they just put a band aid on it until the warranty ran out and then again after damage sustained in an accident that was not my fault.
My electrical system totally failed on my 2012 Dodge Journey, I have had over 20 fires under hood of this Dodge Journey I have taken the car over and over to the dealership over a 4 year period they say the Dodge told them not to repair the car, so on 2/28/2018 the 2012 Dodge Journey was totaled by fire, the total car blow up under the car when the electrical system failed the converter fill with gas me and my family nearly died that day to this present day there has been nothing done about these problems before this happened the wiper , the radio , everything would turn on without a switch beening turned on. . . . . . I nearly had a head on that day 2/28/2018 becauce I had limited steering and brakes when the car blow up , can someone at this agency help with anyof these problems, also there was serious personal injuries that day as well. . Please reply, I have found a lot of other people online with the same problems , always 2012 -2013 Dodge Journeys with 2. 4 liter engines please help. . . . .
Issues I have had so far: car was on and running, in park, couldn't move it from park to drive. Had to turn car off and back on to restart the main computer that controls all that the headlights, visor mirror lights, dashboard main light flickered worse than any other times (this happens most frequently) the following dashboard lights would light up like a christmas tree: brake, eap bas, abs and the one that shows slippery conditions odometer would go from 0 to 100 and back and forth like it was possessed many, many times dings and whatever noise is made when all the above dashboard lights flickered on and off random lock/unlock of doors radio would randomly shut off and come back on * had to be jump started 3 times as my 13 month battery was drained to nothing took to local Dodge dealer, all they did was replace my 13 mon. Old battery and ignition fuses and sent me on my way without the issue being fixed. All the above has happened in motion or stationary except trying to move from park to drive was stationary. . I believe that maybe the location of the battery has caused overheating problems that have caused the vehicle not to start. The whole car will turn on (ac, lights, radio) except for the engine and it has left myself and my children stranded in extreme weather conditions. The car intermittently turns on and this has been occurring for one year now. It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours before the car turns back on.

Twice now I've went to start my car and nothing happens. Lights, radio, etc all come on. Turn key, nothing! not even a clicking noise. I was leaving work the first time it happened. Took turning the key over and over about a dozen times to get it going. Next time I was at gas station. Took over half an hour to get it going. Ended up putting it into neutral to get it to start. Had to try that 4 different times in order for that to work. Have googles this issue on Dodge form and there are numerous people with the same issue. This needs to be a recall!.

I own a 2014 Dodge Journey with about 51k miles on it. Since yesterday, this vehicle has been shutting off and stalling while I am driving. The radio will flicker on and off and the instrument cluster will show all warning lights in a flashing manner, after a few seconds of that, the car will completely turn off while still in drive. On October 3rd, I was making a right turn, and the vehicle shut off mid turn. The brakes became stiff, lost the ability to steer the wheel and also lost functionality to my hazards. This morning, I was driving this same vehicle to my local Dodge/Chrysler dealership and the car once again shut off on me. This time I was in the process of taking off from a red light when the vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection. Again, I lost the ability to even use my hazards. I am going to have it towed to my local dealership within the next few hours.

The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that there was an internal failure and the radio shorted out. The dealer (lawton Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram, 215 se interstate dr, lawton, ok 73501, (580) 350-6000) diagnosed that it was due to a hardware failure, but provided no solution. The dealer advised the contact to notify sirius xm. The contact notified sirius xm and was informed to notify the warranty company to service the radio. The radio failure was not resolved. The vehicle was recently purchased less than 30 days ago and the dealer provided no reason as to why they had not completed the recall repair for NHTSA campaign number: 16v907000 (engine and engine cooling) prior to selling the vehicle. The contact was uncertain if there was also an internal electrical failure with other components besides the radio. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 17,300. Parts distribution disconnect.
Have intermittent starter fails. Often leaves me stranded. Have been able to get it going eventually by jiggling fuses in the fuse box. But I never know when this is going to happen and I have only had the car for 6 months and it has happened 6 times. Vehicle was always turned off and when I went to turn it on, nothing. But there is power in the car, lights and radio etc.
My car will randomly not start the lights on dash all come on along with the radio. It has been looked at numerous times and nothing hs happened a dozen plus times sometimes not for a month sonetimes a week or day latter.
I purchased a used 2012 Dodge Journey in September 2015 from lakeshore Chrysler Dodge and Jeep of slidell, louisiana. We have had nothing but problems since driving off the lot. Found out after purchase that the car was not inspected prior to dealership reselling it. Before I even got home the check engine light came on. I called the dealership and reported issues. They did the oil change and inspected the car and said everything was fine it was "normal noises" however after complaining and complaining the were able to locate and fix the issue with the shifting noises and jolting. We are still experiencing the "normal noise" of three clicks when the engine turns off. We have numerous electrical/computer issues. The air, radio, touch screen, lights, all got off randomly. The system will not respond even if the vehicle is turned off and back on. It works when it wants to. We have issues where the car accelerates faster on its own have to break while car still tries to accelerate. We have had this vehicle in the shop numerous times since the purchase and they "can not duplicate the issue" so they can not fix it. I have provided numerous videos showing and proving the electrical/computer issues we are having. Dodge refuses to do anything to fix the situation. Everything is at our expense. Wants us to pay 150 diagnostic fee on top of having to get rent-a-car for the duration of time the vehicle is in the shop. The dealership has had my car on numerous occasions. One time they had it for over 18 days and said "normal noise" and "could not duplicate" however out of the 18 days they only drove the car 35 miles. I no longer feel safe driving this car. It scares me just to drive to the local grocery which we gotten stuck and had to have towed to dealership. I am so scared & trapped in this car with no way out. Contacting a lawyer this can not be legal to sell defects.
Recurring safety issue with no concrete resolution. While driving at 55mph on a parkway vehicle engine stalled. I could not accelerate and the brakes and steering wheel locked. Radio, power windows, etc. All worked and I couldn't shut off the vehicle via the push button start/stop. When I pressed it to try and turn it off it made a noise like it was trying to start but couldn't. While waiting for the tow truck all of the check engine lights started flashing. Had it towed to the dealership, they replaced the alternator ($$) though diagnostics revealed no problems and they were able to start the car fine once it got there. One week later I was on the highway and the exact same thing happened. It was so scary. I could barely get to the shoulder of the road because the steering had locked. My speed was declining rapidly with cars rushing past at 65+ mph. Once on the shoulder, even though my speed had declined to 0, I was on a slight hill so I just kept rolling bc I had no ability to break. Journey was towed to dealership again and, as before, nothing comes up as the source of the problem via the diagnostics test. The one thing that diagnostics did reveal was that it was detecting a key fob in the car with a low battery- both of the keys are at home with me with no car to drive. Additional problems and repair costs incurred have included malfunction of all steering wheel control buttons and horn, tire sensors needing to be replaced (they all showed 0 pressure when the tires were fine), and key fob detection. I have seen many complaints of this scary engine stall experience with no clear resolution as to why it is happening. It seems the mechanics and star techs are stumped. My car only has 75k miles on it and I am terrified to drive it especially with my child in the car. Please investigate this issue before someone gets injured.
The contact owns a 2014 Dodge Journey. While driving 35 mph, the radio failed without warning. The radio activated after driving approximately fifteen minutes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
My vehicle has been in the shop twice in 2 weeks. It started with a transmission issue. I was driving to work last Monday when the car would not shift into gear. The engine continued to idle, but it would not go into the next gear. After having it towed to carmax where it was purchased. They sent it to the transmission shop who later confirmed my torque convertor was faulty. So it was replaced. My truck was in the shop from 9/21-9/25. I was finally able to pick it up on Monday 9/28. Well, I picked it up and it was driving fine. Then all of a sudden yesterday 9/30, I go outside on my lunch break and it will not start at all. The lights, clock, radio, seats. . . Etc all work fine. But, the vehicle will not start. No clicking noises or anything. It is not trying to turn over at all. I took it back to the transmission shop who last worked on it and they can not figure out what is wrong. They say the diagnostic machine is not picking up on anything! I have to wait until the morning to call the Dodge dealership to see if they can now take a look at it. This is very frustrating!!!! I will update again once I know what the problem is.
My vehicle has undergone repeated repair attempts, for a defect and nonconformity with defective transmission, transmission clunk, defective a/c, defective door locks, defective window regulator, and radio failure. These nonconformities substantially impair the use, value and safety of the subject vehicle. The transmission has shifting issues to the point of having to force it into reverse, especially if parked on an incline. The defective a/c and radio seem to be contained in the all-in-one unit in which the radio goes out and a/c will turn on at random and not turn off. The unit has been completely replaced once, only for the problem to continue. The defective door locks and window regulator was a result of wiring issue bcm and door latch assembly. I have filed a lemon law suit against Chrysler and bill luke, only to be declined as they state it was all within warranty. The vehicle is not worth nearly what I owe on it and has a huge list of repairs that would reflect negatively on carfax in the event of trade or resale. I have attached a summary of repairs, but have additional documentation, if needed.
My husband was driving the car when all of a sudden the radio, all the lights inside, the dashboard, and everything just stopped but the car was still running. He had to pull over, turn off the engine and then restart it for things to turn back on. A few days later I was driving and all the lights inside the car turned on simultaneously for no reason. This happened a few times during the short drive. Hasn't happened since but mechanic asked me to call Dodge to check on recall. No recall when I called Dodge but others have noticed similar incidents with their Dodge Journeys.
While driving when slowing down from various speeds the entire radio system will shut down and reboot. The air and all cuts off when this happens. The screen has went black, and fullnof wildncolor and just simple falls when this hapoens the system reboots after a few minutes. Taken to dealership several times with no luck. =/ also is stalling and brake petal is very hard to push when trying to start.
The vehicle erupted into flames while sitting in the driveway. The car was off and had not been driven for about 12 hours. The vehicle had been into the dealership several times for the radio, navigation, back up camera shorting out while coming to a stop. The night before the fire the vehicles back up camera shorted out and came back on while reversing out of a parking spot. We were going to take the car into the dealership for this problem on 08-06-2015. The neighbors came and got my wife and children out of the house and called the fire department. I have pictures of the fire and all service records of the vehicle leading up to the fire.
2014 Dodge Journey purchased new from dealer, I month later radio panel would go blank for a few seconds and come back on , had taken it to the dealer wea told cpould not find any issues, at this time it is still happening, also I take my Journey in for service every 3500-4000 for service I was told I need 2 new front tires khumo tires at that time I had only 27000 miles he showed how the threds are showing through the rubber , I have not abused driving of my Journey service person said to me that looking at the tires he could tell that I do not abuse the driving of this auto I qbey all speed limits, if someone wants to go fast on the road I let them go past me , I am a handicapped person , but I am not going to buy 2 new tires, I want the manufacturer replace my tires, I will continue to drive this Journey, and if the tirwes blow, then I will hold everyone responsible of putting money value over a persons safety, pleae understand that the dealers said it was going to cost over $300 to replace these tires , I have not put 30000 miles on my Journey as of this day so I feel there should be a replacvemen6t or some kind od a big discount, now for m7y radio panel that go,s blank every so often I do not have the answer and as the service person said the same, so I just hope that I or my wife to not get injured when im driving if the tires give out henry nickerson.
Car started smoking from heating hose busting and started running hot. . . . Also front windshield water dispenser no longer works. . . . Told dealership car kills sometimes while driving. . . . Was told a recall but parts not available. . . Also when car is put from reverse to drive after complete stop. . . It jerks and engine bangs. . . Got told block around engine wall. . . . Also not covered under full extended warranty. . . . . . Sometimes car will not start b/c of ignition switch which sometimes takes about 15 tries to start car. . . Or have to put in neutral to start. . . . . Just totally disappointment b/c I love the size and all my amenities in my SUV, heated seats, leather, t. V. , inifinity radio. . . . . Definitely disappointment. . . . Went with a Dodge again. . . . Bc my durango saved my life. . . . And I felt safe in another SUV. . . . . .
On four separate occasions, I attempted to start my vehicle (all lights, radio work) and only hear clicks of the starter and the vehicle did not start. On the second occasion, the vehicle finally started after approximately thirty minutes. I took the Journey to an auto center and they tested the battery, which was registering at 490 cca and they suggested I get a battery soon. On the third occasion, I went to pick my wife up from a doctors appointment and stopped the Journey for less than five minutes. I attempted to start the Journey and it did not start for over 30 minutes. I attempted to have the vehicle jump started; however, after three separate vehicles attempted to jump my Journey, it did not start and had to call a tow truck. After the tow truck driver charged the battery for approximately 5 minutes, the vehicle started. I immediately had the battery replaced and thought the issues was solved. On the fourth occasion, all four of which took place in a three week period, after stopping at a store for approximately 10 minutes, the Journey did not start. After waiting for approximately 30 minutes, the vehicle finally started. I have reviewed the recalls and this is not listed, yet there are multiple complaints of this issue. I will be attempting to have all current recalls repaired and hope this issue is take care of before myself or someone in my family is seriously injured due to this happening while driving on the highway.
After starting up the vehicle, the radio and information display will not function at all. When the vehicle is then shut off the battery will drain rather quickly( within 8 hours) and kill the battery. If the battery is disconnected and then reconnected the radio and display will then work. This happens frequently depending on how many time the vehicle is started and stopped. My mechanic has traced it to the tipm ,totally integrated power module.
This vehicle is equipped with a Dodge oem remote start system which was activated in this situation. I entered the "remote started" vehicle and went to place my key into the run position. I inadvertently took the key to the start position and upon doing so turned off the radio, power windows, air, turn signals, cluster lights. I was able to drive the vehicle during this incident. These particular items were the only ones I noticed to be non-operational, but there very well possibly could be other critical components such as air bags affected. In order to regain functionality, I had to turn the vehicle to the off position restart. I tried to duplicate the situation but was not able to get to get a reoccurrence at this time. This is the 2nd time I have had this arise. I was able to capture video of the powerless components and show the vehicle was capable to be driven. I've made an appointment with the local Dodge dealership for review. This vehicle did have a win module recall in 2011, and is not currently part of the recent Dodge ignition problem recall.
