36 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

On many different occasions when going to start the car the lights, radio etc all worked but the vehicle would not start. This would happen periodically then more frequent as time went on. After replacing the battery the vehicle continued to have this problem. At one point I became stranded in a parking lot with my two small children in the car because again the car would not start. After taking the vehicle to the dealership for repairs a module was thought to be the problem and was replaced. Three days later I became stranded again at a gas station again with my two small children because the vehicle would not start. My car was again taken back to the dealership. I was soon informed that they could not find the problem and had contacted Chrysler. Chrysler had suggested replacing the starter. After researching this issue I have found that this is not an isolated problem. I find that this is a safety problem do to the unpredictable no start problem. Leaving the vehicle occupants stranded.

37 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 05/19/2014

Low tire indicator as soon as I started my car. Then the change oil indicator flashed. I had just had an oil change and all tires have accurate pressure. Sometimes my car won't start when I turn the key but the lights and radio will work. The shifter panel gets hot sometimes. The wipers will move up a couple of inches when I use my unlock button on my key. My dash lights will fade and then come back to the brightness I have it set at just randomly while the vehicle is started, driving or sitting still. Sounds like an electrical issue. Lots of other complaints about the same things occurring, yet no recalls and things are not covered under warranty.

38 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

We bought this vehicle in April of 2014 with approximately 116,000 miles on it. The day after we bought the vehicle it began not starting and leaving us stranded for minutes to hours at a time. I have six children that regularly ride in this vehicle with me, and it has left us stranded at least once a week (often much more) since we bought it. It has a brand new key fob (bought and programmed by a Dodge dealership when we purchased the vehicle). It has had two starters replaced (one before and one just after we bought it, on the assumption that they had received a bad starter). I have been in a Dodge dealership getting my oil changed, when it wouldn't start for them, and they wouldn't put it on the computer to isolate the issue, because they didn't have time. When we attempt to start the car, all we will get is a click. All of the lights, radio, etc work just fine, but it will not start. Sometimes it takes two or three attempts to start. Sometimes it is well over an hour. We are aware that our vehicle is under recall for a win detent ring, however, all of the dealerships we've spoken with say that they don't have the part and can't give us an estimated time on when it will be available. This is extremely concerning to me, given that the issue could cause my vehicle to shut down while I am driving at high speeds on the highway with my children. We also had new brakes put on when we purchased it (less than 10,000 miles ago), and it already needs new brakes. Please investigate this issue. We can't get a straight answer from Dodge as to what could be the issue. I am concerned over the fact that numerous times we've been stranded in extreme heat, and now we are going into winter where we get extreme cold. It is unsafe. Thank you.

39 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2014 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 02/10/2014

When driving the vehicle the main screen radio/air control as well as dash board will go black, it is almost like the vehicle will cut off going down the road and after a few seconds everything will work again. I have had this problem since I bought it and before the first oil change was due after having to commute to work long distance for a few months and now having 14,000 on it I am still having this issue and cant seem to get Dodge to fix the problem all they want to do is updates well after 7/8 months we all know updates are a waste and just away for you to say you don't know what's wrong or don't want to fix it because it cost to much. The customer services is a joke and I spent way to much money on a new SUV to have this much trouble. Stay away from Journeys. . . . . . . . .

40 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2011 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

Since the day I bought this vehicle, 2013, I have had numerous dead batteries when I went out to start it. As well as flicking dash lights (bright then dim and back again, completely random) while driving during the day, evening, night, raining, and snowing. The Ford dealership that which I bought it from, and the local Chrysler dealership have had my vehicle more in the last two years, then I have. Both Ford & Chrysler dealerships have found multiple issues, but have not fixed one of my main complaints, the dash lights flickering. Between the two businesses they have re-built the transmission, changed the throttle body, wiring harness, radio, radiator, motor train control module, instrument panel, and put a new battery in it many times, including the day I bought it. A mechanic at Ford had told me that there was issues with the Journey before I bought it. I requested a copy of all the paperwork that the Ford dealership had on my vehicle, and to my surprise the previous owner traded/sold (?) my vehicle to Ford the day before I bought it because he/she was going through the same issues with it the battery being dead.

41 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

On multiple occasions over the past few years my 2009 Dodge Journey will not start. There is no warning and it's become a gamble to drive my car and risk getting stranded somewhere. The vehicle will just click when I turn the keyfob and sounds like a dead battery, but all lights, radio, windows etc work fine. I have replaced the battery 3x as suggested by my local Dodge dealership but they fail to identify why this is a recurring problem. I have also been waiting for almost a year for repairs related to recalls they are unable to correct since the parts are not available. My vehicle also has a history of the panic alarm going off when pushing the unlock button the keyfob (I've made sure the panic was not hit by accident - this is not operator error). Once the panic alarm is sounding the keyfob becomes useless and won't work. I have to take the key out of the fob, unlock the door using the key, get in put keyfob in car turn car on, turn car back off, take keyfob out of ignition and click the unlock and/or panic buttons to get the alarm to shut off.

Since I purchase my car, the radio has gone out of conto andconstinley keep changing the channels and won't stop. While driving my radio and hvac turned off and interior light came on. Now my gears hesitating to shift (sticking) when turning making a loud thump. This all happens while driving on a highway, street. If I hit a bump, my radio would change channels.

43 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 10/26/2012

Tried to start car just clicks won't turn over. Lights, radio everything turns on. This has happened several times. Sometimes if you wait it will start, sometimes if you move the gear shifter around it will start. Sometimes my battery light comes on then turns off after starting again. Same for my other indicator lights. Also my back seat doors will lock from the outside and you cant get them to unlock with the buttons or the key fob. Only by climbing in the backseat to unlock them. Starting problems seem worse after car sits for longer period or during colder weather. This is a very common problem with these vehicles.

44 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2010 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 08/03/2012

Car would not start. Everything worked (radio, windows etc) did not even make a sound like it wanted to start. I called performance Dodge where purchased, they told me to have it towed to them. I tried for over one hour to start car. It finally started. Took it to nearest repair shop, tested and found no codes. Took it to performance Dodge, found no codes.

45 Radio/tape Cd Player problem of the 2009 Dodge Journey

Failure Date: 06/19/2011

We had to replace front brakes and resurface the rotors at 18785 miles. Replaced rear brake pads at 26848 miles and replaced front brake pads and rotors at under 36000 again. This car has 35885 on it. I misplaced the letter sent home about being reimbursed for these problems. We just decided to buy our lease. We need new tires only we arent waiting for the expensive ones on backorder we will use the alternate size and brand. Yesterday I lost all power in the car. Windows wont go up or down, no air, no radio, no windshield wipers, no power locks. Its hot in NJ I cant drive this car without these things. I shouldnt have to drive it without these things. There are less than 36000 miles on the car. I hit my 36 month mark on 5/31 so am I out of luck. Can Dodge stand proudly behind their name and recall these cars will all of these problems? I read the blogs and message boards-im not the first person and I wont be the last to have these problem. Why should all the responsibility be put on the customer. This is my 2nd Dodge and this will probably be my last if they cant step up and own some of this faults. I dont know the answer to the equipment make and model so I am putting in anything to allow me to get to the next page. If I knew this info. I would be a mechanic and would have known about these problems before I bought the car. I am choosing 3m series 963(this means nothing-this is the only way I can get onto the next page so disregard this section of the complaint).
