Service Brakes Problems of Dodge Journey - part 2

My car is rarely driven, only 40,000 miles. When I started my car recently the brake, abs light, and traction light came on. I did my research in which I found out that there is a recall for 2012-2015 Dodge Journey model, my car is a 2015 model but my VIN in particular is not part of the recall.

My traction control light, abs sensor light and brake indicator dash are on. My cruise control does not work. My mechanic says that it is the abs control module. There is a recall for this part, but not for my VIN number. The horn fuse had to be removed because the alarm would not stop going off, even when the alarm was not set. This is also associated with the ecm.

The abs module has failed and no replacement parts are available. The vehicle cannot get passed inspection from the state of texas because this module failure. No service facility can't get them part needed to repair brakes.

The contact owns a 2015 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while driving at 55 mph on wet roads, the brakes pulled to the right. The abs, brake, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the anti-lock system had failed. Although the 2014 Dodge Journey received the r61 / NHTSA 15v-675 recall, the warning lights for the electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system failure and the warning are currently coming on (September 2023). Of the brake/parking brake system on the dashboard, thus indicating that something is not working well. When scanning the car it appears that there is no communication or there is a defect between the steering angle sensor (sas) modules and the anti-lock braking system (abs) module. I request that this be investigated, considering that it is a safety problem that can occur during vehicle braking. Thank you for your time.

The abs light and check engine light came on and dash began flickering. Vehicle also experienced sputtering issues and hesitation on acceleration. Vehicle was inspected by an independent technician who recommended taking it to a dealership for an abs module. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and dealership determined that an abs control and abs module were needed. Parts were ordered, however, after contacting Chrysler customer care I learned that the abs module is back ordered and on hold for engineer review. According to the representative I spoke to, folks have been waiting months for this part and it has been a high volume part order. The part number is 68164594aa. According to the rep, the part may take until April to arrive. If this is true it sounds like a significant number of people may be having a serious issue with their Dodge vehicle abs module.

My abs module has malfunctioned so I lost anti lock brakes traction control and cruise control. The dealership has no parts and don't know when they can them. I also have another vehicle from Chrysler with same issue they have no idea when they will get parts and want me to pay up front before they order it. I find that wrong in so many ways. I called Chrysler and they didn't give a darn. I asked if car was safe to drive and all I got was I don't know. I don't know about you but this is pure bs this should be a recall item I mean it's only the brake system. This a huge problem it's not just Chrysler they all bought cheap chinese parts and they don't work. You need to put a fire up someone's ass to fix this before someone dies they are putting thousands of new cars out and they rest of us can't get parts. Our anti-lock brake system is failing code c2200-49.

Since purchasing this vehicle we have had catalytic converter issues that have persisted even after having the dealer "fix" the issue. We have also had abs/traction control module issues. This is the 2nd identical vehicle owned with the exact same problems.

Inside the wire in trunk hatch may cause brake lights to stop working and reverse light and rearview camera and-unlock button on trunk the wires become brittle overtime from opening and closing the hatch.

The contact owns a 2018 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while reversing, the back over prevention screen delayed in responding, before going black and then returning to normal operation. Additionally, the vehicle failed to stop in a reasonable amount of time while depressing the brake pedal. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The abs system got wet and shorted out the electrical system. It seems it may have been a recall earlier that was done but obviously it has failed again. Was driving and all lights and beepers went off. My abscandvtraction control and brake sensor and cruise control and park assist and engine and brake lights are all on and it now won’t start easy. It’s a mess and at the dealer who says they won’t help fix it.

The abs light was on in the car. Took to a repair shop and they replaced the abs module. Said it fell under r61. But then my re-imbursment was declined because they said my VIN did not have the problem. But putting in a new abs module and reprogramming fixed the issue. As I was braking to enter the on-ramp of hwy 1923 from asheville, I noticed for the second time, my brakes were not slowing me down as usual, instead, they acted as if they were slowly grabbing. As I speed up to the correct speed limit, it seemed as though my brakes started to grab again without me depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle made a throbbing, and vibrating sound. All this after just having taken the vehicle to my mechanic for the same problem two days prior. The back brakes were replaced, the front brakes looked fine, and everything was checked out. Two days later brakes started acting up again, not working normally and acting as if thay are grabbing and vibrating the vehicle! no warning lights were shown. Next step is the Dodge dealer. Another very aggravating glitch that the Dodge dealer said that didn see, is the fact that every time I park the vehicle, I have to turn the sterring wheel a certain way before the battery will shut off, if not the battery will be drained!.

Airbags didn't deploy in head on collision and break system has a defect in the abs module.

I have been stranded in this vehicle to many times to count. Mostly I had to get a jump to get it back home or keep it running until I returned home. Within the last 30 days I have installed a new alternator and starter. Walmart has installed 4 new batteries due to it being under warranty. So as of today I can't start my car. All the interior lights come on and radio but won't turn over. I tried to get a jump 3 times but still nothing. I am disabled and can't get on public transportation or barely walk up stairs. I'm at zero income and awaiting approval from ssi. So I need someone to assist with this nightmare please. I honestly don't know what else to do.

Brake system has ongoing and continuous defects, malfunctions and failure. I have had calipers fall off and pr stick causing the wheel to overheat and melt the tire rim. Replaced all that. Brakes never seem strong enough to properly stop this vehicle safely. Brake lights stay off and on light a christmas tree. Had several inspections for code errors. Replace entire system in January of 2023. $1,800. Less than 500 miles later, another caliper sticks, then snaps causing entire break assembly to move, damaging yet another wheel rim. I love this vehicle. The room, style. But it's not safe. I've almost caused an accident on the road 3 times due to this useless brake system. This last incident put me in a ditch. It's still in the mechanics shoo. Severe wheel damage this time.

C2200/49 abs module internal failure code comes, along with traction control comes and goes at the same time and have learned that it is a known issue for my vehicle models from 2009-2020. High failure rate and cost is astronomically high 900 dollars to replace and programming. It all started when I accidentally ran up on a curb in October.

The antilock brake system (abs) is not functioning and warning lights are on. I understand there is a recall on Dodge/journey 2012-2015 for abs control module: safety recall r61/NHTSA 15v-675. I took it to the Dodge dealership for repair, but they declined as my car, based on the VIN number, is not covered under this recall. They said only specific VIN numbers are recalled and mine is not one of them. Since my Dodge falls under the 2012-2015 general recali and I have a faulty abs module, may I get approval to be included under that recall, as this is a safety issue? The vehicle started making a whining noise, also brake light came on, vehicle lost ability to brake in open traffic, slipping in and out of gear, vehicle loss power while driving in open traffic. This all began on or around 10/8. The engine light came on in the vehicle after which time the vehicle was no longer driven by owner as a safety precaution. On 10/11 the vehicle was diagnosed by aamco transmissions. The mechanic advised the vehicle had experience hydraulic pressure failure, the hydraulic pump in the vehicle went out unexpectedly. The mechanic said all fluids were inspected and topped off and look well all except transmission fluid, which was described as burnt. The mechanic explained that because of the pump failure the transmission wasn’t receiving any pressure. I found an open recall not specific to my VIN but specific to 2016 Dodge Journeys that was for power train automatic transmissions. Recall number was s44. Another recall number was 16v461000. The consequences of this recall is exactly what my vehicle experienced. Aamco also confirmed they see this a lot with my type of vehicle. My vehicle is available for inspection. My safety was gravely out at risk as I drive a lot taking my kids to basketball practice. I live in a very busy area metro atlanta and have used the expressway often I could have loss the ability to brake at a higher speed or completely shut off in the middle of high speed traffic.

When driving the car will go into limp mode with no warning. When the car shuts off I have no control of steering wheel and brakes. Thus cam shaft was replaced but the issue now persists. Now the engine is stalling and caused the steering hose to bust and head gasket is blown.

Electrical - the vehicle while driving just shut off. No power, no lights, the engine died. The vehicle was brought to a stop, placed in park and then restarted without issue. The abs system - the brakes failed to work. While at a stop light, brakes depressed, the vehicle began rolling backwards.

Abs module has went bad over 6 months ago and the dealership says it is still on backorder as I have read on many different car manufacturers <but they still get the brake abs for new cars to sell but not for the used ones under warranty,,,and they also told me at that time that they had other vehicles with the same problem and they had already been waiting close to a yr on their parts.

My abs module went bad showing the brake light, abs ,anti skid, dealership checked it and said we will order you an abs module but we have other drivers that have been waiting for over 6 months now and still no parts for them and it has been almost 1 yr now that I have been waiting, I can still drive the SUV but I don't have the anti sidd system that works on my SUV,,,,but yet they have enough parts to keep building and selling new vehicles. . . The government should make them fix our used cars as well.

No accident but around 3 months ago my abs lights and traction control lights came on took it to my dealership and they scanned it and said abs module internal fault and said to me well that part is on backorder, at least till Jan 1 2023, went by there yesterday and they said parts still not in and it might might not never come in. . . . So much for safety and what good is a warranty if they wont supply parts for the used cars but still building new ones for sale.

Vehicle would not start and the engine light was on. Upon inspection at dealer, the abs module was offline due to water intrusion into the connector which caused corrosion on both abs module and wiring harness connector. There is a recall for this issue on about 276,000 Dodge Journeys. We were denied compensation since our VIN was not on recall list. We were required to pay $3982. 69 to fix what should have been covered under the recall.

I was getting into leave my car and three lights came up. The traction light, abs, and my brake light. It rained really hard yesterday and now I have all three lights on my dash. Supposedly the recall is no more and I have to pay out of pocket. I just bought this car back in may of 2022. I should not be held responsible for paying out of pocket for this recall. I need help getting this fixed.

The anti-locking braking system, electronic stability control & braking warning lights stay on all the time. I have absolutely no traction at anytime. The worse incident occurred when I was headed down a mountain and it had just started to rain. I could not slow the car down. I started at 35 mph at the top of the mountain and was at 60 mph by time I got at the bottom of it. Every time I barely touched the brakes the car started fishtailing. I notice the no traction mainly when there are wet roads. I can tell I have not traction at times even on dry roads but lots worse when they are wet. I have noticed in many searches that the abs/esc being disabled is a common recall for the 2015 Dodge Journey; however, when I enter my VIN number to my car it states it is not included in this recall. I would like to know how recalls work and why my car would not be included. I have been watchin recalls hoping that my car would be included because I am still making payments on this vehicle and do not have money to fix this issue. This is my main means of travel and I am extremely nervous driving with no traction. I'm considering getting rid of this vehicle because I do not feel it is safe to drive.

The brake and steering failed while I was attempting to slow down to turn right. The car failed to stop and the car failed to turn so I jumped a curb and caused extensive damage to bottom of car.

For several month my brake light would illuminate when I would hit brakes. Then the abs light and traction control light also came on. Took it to shop and said it was the electric stability control module and Dodge Journeys are known for this but it only recalls 2012-2015. Mine is a 2016. Pretty sure it should also be included in the recall, nevertheless they tried to charge me almost $600 to fix, I refused.
