Transmission Pump Problems of Dodge Journey

My vehicle began having issues shifting gears at 103,000 miles. The vehicle would jolt each time a shift occurred. It specifically had issues shifting out of reverse into drive. This occurred intermittently for a couple days. Then it began having issues shifting while accelerating. I mainly drive on the interstate to and from work, and the vehicle would not go over 45 miles per hour. We immediately parked the vehicle and noticed transmission fluid leaking underneath. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop who told us the transmission pump had gone out and we needed to rebuild or replace the transmission.

Another unknown dealer said the same and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The contact researched the issue as a defective transmission pump. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The failure mileage was 108,000.

The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the transmission pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 146,000.

I believe there should be a recall on the transmission pump hydraulic pressure for my model vehicle. I was told that there was a recall on the Dodge Journey for the pump, but not for my particular model. I am currently having issues with my vehicle losing hydraulic pressure in the transmission. A diagnostic code is given also. When driving, my vehicle will shut off.

Purchased vehicle in April of 2015, transmission pump went out on it in July 2016 while on vacation moving through the entrance gaits at where we were staying. Was fixed under warranty on vacation. Dealership did not even give us a loaner while waiting. The following April 2017, it happened again while driving to work only they had replace entire transmission. Now my vehicle jerks when switching gears and stalls randomly when I come to a stop. I am at 76k miles. This new transmission is still under warrenty since it has not been a year. This car is a lemon!!! I will be getting rid of it soon. I was hoping to keep it after I paid it off, but I don't think it will last for me to see it get paid off! I have also had a seat track fixed and the radio and navigation replaced, as well as the wiring harness for the steering wheel and cruise control. All during warrenty thankfully. Makes me angry because I do not want to start over on a loan and I will not be able to buy at the same interest rate.
