At low speeds and stops my car will shut off at random times. Sometimes 3-5 times in as short of a drive as 10 miles, mainly at intersections. Worst incident was pulling away from a stop sign making a left hand turn with a car coming the direction I was turning, I lost engine power as well as power-steering. In all instances I shut car off and restarted and was able to pull away, although in some cases it would not initially engage into drive. I first experienced after putting a full tank of gas in although now it does not matter the fuel level. It has been progressively getting more frequent.

Went out to start the car on 11/7/13 and could not get the shift out of park. Called the Dodge dealer and he knew exactly what was wrong. Called a tow truck and the owner said that he also knew what was wrong and that his small towing service had towed hundreds of Chrysler / Dodge cars with the same exact problem. I checked on the internet and found hundreds of complaints similar to my problem - cannot get out of park. I also called Chrysler customer service and was told that they knew of the problem, but that my particular vehicle was not covered - only certain VIN's are covered. If there are 100's of cars just in my small location, there must be 1000's, if not tens of thousands affected vehicles nation wide. I will also mention that the manual override for the shifter did not work, so my car had to be dragged onto the tow truck. I feel that this is not only a costly problem for car owners, but a safety issue as well. What if you put the car in park while you were in the middle of traffic and then could not move? I could list other situations as well - all safety issues. I would ask that a total recall of all vehicles effected be issued. Thanks.

After filling up with gas, upon driving the car will die. At approximately 5mph the car will suddenly die and will not respond. Car will not start until after a few minutes of sitting. No cel lights or codes thrown.
After fill up and not topping off tank car will sputter or even die and have to be restarted several times for the first 10 or so mile. My car has died several times in busy traffic almost causing a rear end collision from cars behind me.
Has cutoff at 10 - 25 - 40 -65 mph. Does it while slowing. Stopping or accelerating. Past made no diff if after fill up or 1/4 tank. No 'skips' couple miles after fill up. Dealership cannot find problem. 2005 Magnum r/t now 53,000 miles bought new garage kept. Seen many similar complaints- is there no assistance for a loyal Dodge customer??????????????.
After filling up at a gas station, I drove the car approximately 1/2 mile and the car stopped at a traffic light. This has happened to me probably a dozen times since March of this year. It does not happen after every fill up, probably every 4 times it happens.
The car started normally after sitting in a parking lot for 30 minutes. When the car was placed in reverse, the car lurched backwards and began accelerating on it's own. I quickly applied the brakes and stopped the car and put it in neutral but the engine continued to race from idle to 3000rpm. I repeatedly tried to restart the car and the same issue arose. Finally the car settled down and I was able to get it home. I took it to the dealer and was told the throttle body was bad and I replaced it. Same issue reappeared and I was then told it needed to be initialized to the new throttle body. The day after having the work done at the dealer the car began to accelerate on it's own in traffic. I contacted the dealer and was told there was a common problem with the pcm's in this particular car. I cannot believe that Chrysler has a car on the road that when the pcm fails, the car will accelerate on it's own. Chrysler says there is nothing they can do as it is out of warranty.
After filling up my fuel tank and driving approximately 1/2 mile, the engine died. Restarted engine and it died again. After the third restart it continued to run. After having this occur approximatey 12-15 times over the next 6 months, I discovered that if I fill it no more than14 gallons maximum, the problem will not occur. The problem is exactly what was reported in pe13016, however I have had the engine die at both low speeds and high speeds (50-65 mph).
Had just filled up with fuel when taking off to cross the street the car died and had to be pushed to the side of the road. After a while it started up but died numerous times then was fine until next fill up. After a few days it started losing power when driving down the road then power came back. . This is unsafe due to the car slows down fast then powers back up.
While driving my Magnum, the engine stopped completely. The car has done this since I have had it. It has been to three Dodge dealerships, costing me hundreds of dollars, and the problem is never fixed. It seems that the car stops mostly when I first drive off in the morning and after filling up with gas.
Tl-the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Magnum. While driving 40 mph, the contact noticed that the esp bas warning light illuminated when the vehicle decelerated to 20 mph. She was unable to travel above 20 mph. The dealer informed the contact to replace the pcm control module and performed the repairs. Approximately one week later the failure occurred again. No repairs were performed. The current mileage was 116,000 and the failure mileage was 115,000. The VIN was unavailable. Bw.

The thermostat continually stops working properly and has to be replaced.
Car has 137,000 miles car was running good , all maintenance done, parked car , shut it off , in about 10 seconds started back up again , and it sounded like someone was banging on the inside of my hood , started back firing then it went dead would never start again , manfredi Dodge in staten island told me I dropped a valve seat , after 5 yrs I hear more and more about the same thing , and Dodge doesn't want to do anything ,because the cars are out of warrantee , it usually happens after 100,000 miles , so yes car is out of warrantee , but buying the car brand new and spending almost $36,000 I should have gotten more then 137,000 miles out of that car.
Engine computer that talks to key to determine "match" dies and shuts off vehicle while driving. Computer had to be replaced. 14000 miles later (two years later) computer that was replaced does the exact same thing and Dodge will not replace as a defective, but rather charging 1200 bucks. Extremely dangerous as it randomly just cuts off engine while driving at any speed and can be rear ended. This is not a part that "wears". And this is not a part that should ever have to be replaced or go bad.
If I fill my tank and I drive it away from the pump, it will stutter, hesitate, jerk, then die. I lose all power steering, breaks, engine. Afterwards, it won't immediately restart. It will start again after a few minutes. It won't start driving good again until I run the gas level down a little. After I fill, it will run ok until I make a turn or come to a stop, something that will slosh the fuel in the tank again then it will act like it is starved for fuel. This happens everytime I fill my tank. If I don't fill it completely then it will do it. It never did this when I first bought my car. One time after I this happened, I opened the gas cap and it was hissing and spitting gas just sitting there. This is a very dangerous situation as if this happened on the highway I could become involved in a collision. It has happened at least a half dozen time and have since not filled my tank up until today and it happened again.
Car engine quits running after startup following refueling, and several times thereafter, requiring that the engine be restarted each time. It occurs after each refueling. All operational control of the vehicle is lost when the engine quits. I consider this to be a great safety hazard.
Engine malfunction (blown engine).
I have a 2005 Dodge Magnum and on random occasions the check oil light will turn the car will ding then the engine will shut off but all of the electrical components will stay on and the brakes and power steering will not work so I almost rear ended some one yesterday. It has happened 3 times in less than 5 minutes one time and when it does occurs just as I am giving it just a small amount of gas.
2007 Dodge Magnum when coming to a stop or idling engine revs up and goes forward a little.
2005 Dodge Magnum swt: both engine hood and rear hatch shock cylinders that hold the hood & hatch up have failed. Received hard "bump" on head from both areas when the hood & also the back hatch fell on me no comment when called dealer suggested I buy new shock cylinders for a 4 year old car !!!!???.
I brought a 2006 Dodge Magnum in March of 2007 with 19,230 miles. The engine is now at 50,000 miles and the engine is no good. The Dodge company can't tell even tell me the problem with the engine.
The same day I bought the vehicle the oil light was on, next day off, complain to the dealer. . . It went to the shop . . . They couldn't find anything. . . Next day light back on. . They sent it to the shop again. . . . . Next day guess what, yes light back on. . They don't have a clue. . . . This is crazy. . . . . Someone messed up. . . . . Need to be corrected. . . . . Not asking for blood, just fix my car. . . . Will this kill my family? who the heck knows!!!! it's a manufacturer problem that needs attention.
While slowing down to turn (3 times) and driving over dipps in the road with the cruise control set at 60mph rpms suddenly drop and engine goes dead without any warning lights or anything. The steering wheel becomes almost locked and vehicle cannot be controled. These incidents were reported to the dealership, diamond Dodge in bastrop, la and there only explanation for the problem that they acknowledged as existing was to flash the computer. The service technician said he thought it might solve the problem but wasn't sure. It did it again the very next day! my Magnum also pulls to the right and sometimes is a fight to keep on the road.
