Failure Date: 02/28/2022

The contact owns 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while having the vehicle serviced by a local dealer, the fuel pump was found to be cracked and leaking fuel. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the fuel pump replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 143,000.

2 Fuel Pump problem of the 2004 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 10/24/2004

While driving 70 mph vehicle shut off. Dealer stated transfer pump for the fuel failed. As a result, the fuel will not reach the engine.

Failure Date: 02/18/2004

While driving 55 mph vehicle stalled. Consumer had vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that fuel pump needed to be replaced.

4 Fuel Pump problem of the 1996 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 02/17/2004

While driving at 25 mph vehicle was running very roughly. Vehicle was taken to the dealer, who found that fuel tank and fuel pump were contaminated.

5 Fuel Pump problem of the 2001 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 09/09/2003

Engine check light appeared on the dashboard. The dealer's analysis was that the fuel transfer pump malfunctioned which causing the vehicle to shut down and hesitate because the fuel was incorrectly transferring into fuel pump.

6 Fuel Pump problem of the 1997 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 03/25/2002

Truck caught fire parked in drive way. Totally burned the truck and burned our car parked next to it, the corner of our home and the rear of a car parked in our gurage. The fire has been investigated by several professionals and the consensus is that the fire originated at the top of the fuel tank where a electrical pump is located. 7 Fuel Pump problem of the 1998 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 08/14/2001

When driving at 40-45 and without prior warning vehicle cut completely off, causing loss of all power steering and power brakes. Consumer contacted the dealer, dealer instructed consumer to get up underneath vehicle and bang on fuel tank right at the location of t fuel pump. Consumer noted after banging on the fuel tank that vehicle restarted. Consumer drove six miles and vehicle cut completely off without prior warning. Mechanic again banged on fuel tank and vehicle restarted. Fuel pump internall shorted, dealer replaced fuel pump and vehicle has not stalled anymore.

8 Fuel Pump problem of the 1997 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 08/07/2001

This is 2nd time fuel pump has failed. Luckily truck was not moving either time. This last failure was caused by a short circuit. Isn't this a dangerous situation as fuel pump is located in the gas tank. I know other Dodge Ram owners who have had to replace the fuel pump. Is there a problem with the fuel pumps in these trucks?.

9 Fuel Pump problem of the 1997 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 12/15/2000

Consumer took vehicle in for inspection and found out brake pad fell off. Metal to metal ruined rotor. Both had to be cut because other good one was worn down. Also, fuel pump went bad for second time. Consumer stopped at a stop after returning from store and vehicle stalled. It no longer started right up, it always heitated like it was not trying to catch. Dealer said it lost its program because it was not used enough. Consumers warranty was expired, covered cost.

10 Fuel Pump problem of the 1996 Dodge RAM

Fuel pump went out while setting at a gas station, I shut off the engine, put gas in and the pump must have died right there, this has happened to my fathers truck ( a 1994 Dodge) and a neighbors truck (after 1994 Dodge) also.

11 Fuel Pump problem of the 1997 Dodge RAM

Failure Date: 09/22/1999

Upon failure of fuel pump, mechanic disclosed that he replaces many fuel pumps for the afformentioned make and model. Another family member who owns a Dodge Ram 1500 that was purchased on the same date as the earlier mentioned vehicle was forced to replace the same item (fuel pump) at approximately 48,000 miles. It seems obvious that an investigation should follow, this does not appear to be merely coincidental.

When driving there is loud noise coming from fuel pump. Also, when applying the gas pedal vehicle won't move, and will just idle.
