The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, the contact became aware that the rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket had detached. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failed rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket. The contact was informed that the rear fuel tank strap mounting bracket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that about five years prior, the front fuel tank metal strap mounting bracket was replaced under NHTSA campaign number: 18v160000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.

While driving home 10/20 ~8pm, I was slowing down in freeway traffic ~45mph. I took my foot off the brake and was just about to press down on the accelerator pedal, my truck surged forward for about . 25 of a second (split second). This has happened in the past ~8 times. I notified the dealer at 26,000 mile service and they said it was the enginge switching between the eco mode and normal mode. (5. 7 hemi). Please advise. Vehicle will act as if out of gas and start jerking. Rpms will go up and vehicle seems as if it is going up hill. Sometimes driver will put foot on gas from a stopped position and vehicle will go nowhere. Dealer has seen vehicle twice and had no solution.
