Brake Electric Antilock Problems of Dodge Ram 1500 - part 2

Right front brakes wore out faster then other side. Consumer could hear noise coming from brakes. Noise due to inside brake pad lining wearing down to metal. Manufacturer warning system failed, driver/owner unaware problem existed until failure occurred.

Whenever brakes are applied in a sudden / emergency stop it causes vehicle to continue on before stopping. Vehicle been at three different dealer shops; two dealers informed consumer that nothing could be found, and other dealer informed consumer that abs system needed replacment. When you apply the brakes in a hurry or fast they dont always stop me and my wife was almost killed by another truck at a red light I apply the brakes but the truck did not stop the dealer has replaced the brakes ,drums, master, and the abs dump valve.

While driving on highway went to applied the brakes, and brake pedal went all the way to the floor. Consumer had to apply excessive force, and it gets worst as the brakes gets hotter. Contacted the dealer, and dealer said nothing was wrong. This was perfectly normal.

The contact states that he is having problems with his braking system, it will not stop. No prior warning to failure. The braking is very insufficient. The contact says that with normal braking it is fine, but it is when having to brake in a panic brake take too long to actually stop the vehicle. Almost, caused accidents several times. The dealership had the truck out for a test drive about the transmission ,and the mechanic even told him that the brakes were bad. But since the contact is on an extended warranty they will not do anything else to the truck. The consumer's braking system does not appear to have enough pressure to stop the vehicle in a panic stop situation. The pedal goes to the floor but the wheels do not stop and the abs never engages.

Ongoing and intermittent failure of braking system;. Vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on twelve occasions. Various parts and repairs have been made, but the problem still reoccurring. Please provide us with any further details on this matter.

While driving and attempted to stop, anti-lock brakes did not catch, and consumer ran into the back of another automobile. Driver sustained some injuries.

Upon depressing the brake pedal the pedal goes to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance/ brakes fade away. Consumer awaiting to take vehicle to dealer.

Abs brakes pulled to left and locked up, causing consumer to hit enbankment and went into someone's yard.

When driving at any speed and applying the brakes, the abs system kicks in, and the brake pedal goes straight to the floorboard.

While applying brakes at 35 mph vehicle would slow down, but not stop. Vehicle would continually go on, even with both feet on pedal. Vehicle been to dealer shop on six occasions, and unable to locate problem. Feel free to provide any futher information.

Poor abs performance, the vehicle pulls to the left and right when the brakes are applied, also extended stopping distance.

When driving on icy and snowy road conditions and applying the brakes, the front wheels lock up and the rear wheels do not stop vehicle. Vehicle has been to dealership (3) times for same problem. Vehicle is at dealership now.

When applying brakes they rubbed, throwing driver forward. Please provide further information.

Vehicle has abs brakes. Front brakes have excessive wear. Cause of problem unknown.

In wet and dry weather when applying the brakes they lock up, took to dealer, he said there is a problem but can't remedy the situation.

While driving and upon pressing brakes, vehicle will lurch about eight or nine feet. This has happened at least five times. Took vehicle to dealer, and problem has not been remedied as of yet. Please provide any further information.

When applying the brakes the vehicle will slow down and then go free for about 10 feet. Dealer has seen and replaced the brakes twice, and problem still exists.

At highway speeds braking will transfer to front brakes, causing brakes to fade , takes about 190 feet before it stops .

As per NHTSA #sb049106,bulletin #96-40,sequence #152. The description in this report describes how my truck has driven since I received it. I went through all the hoops and rings that the dealer and the regional manager required and finally ended up in arbitration only to be told that my truck didnt have a problem,what I felt (and experenced) was inherent to the vehicle and all the vibration, clunking and hesitation just bothered me more than anyone else was because I was sensative to it. After 2 years of battling with this and brake problems(which I will say ,they fixed after 32000 miles and $400+ of my money) I couldnt afford the time off to continue battling. Not once was this buletin ever brought up,infact,during arbitration,if was asked if any bulletins refered to problems like this and the answer was a flat "no". When applying the brakes the rear brakes didn't work and the rear of the truck jumped up.

While driving and pulling trailer load, upon braking, action seemed ineffective in stopping, vehicle continued to roll forward, resulting in extended stopping distance.
