1 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2006 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 07/21/2017

First problem was one idiot light on the dash indicated the emergency brake was on (and it wasn't). But since the operation of the truck was not an issue, I continued driving for two more months while more and more idiot lights came on each time the vehicle was used, electronically reporting a problem with the vehicle when there wasn't one. Finally two months later, the truck would not start at all or even turn over. When the key was turned to start the vehicle, the engine wouldn't even crank. Yet all the idiot lights came on which indicated to me it was an electronic problem and not a mechanical one like a bad ignition or bad battery. After repeated attempts, opening and closing the doors electronically with the key fob on and off repeatedly, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, locking and unlocking the doors manually, and even jiggling the steering wheel, eventually the vehicle would start up completely normally, but with all the idiot lights on. This was erratic and there was no rhyme or reason why it was happening or what caused the problem. The situation continued like this about a week until the engine would not even shut down when the key was turned to the off position. Not only that, several times the engine continued running when the key was removed and there was no way to stop the engine from running except sitting in the vehicle and waiting for it to sputter to a stop, which was a colossal waste of time and money and a potentially dangerous situation. After a subsequent appointment at the local Dodge dealer here in albuquerque where the vehicle sat in the service bay for a week while the issue was being evaluated, resulting in the issue eventually being diagnosed as a bad tipm, which needed to be replaced at a grossly overpriced cost of $1600, since the part is available online for less than $400.

7 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 01/04/2014

Vehicle didn't start, we were stranded miles from home it showed "wrong key fob" on the screen, steering & transmission locked up, towed to nearest dealer they reprogrammed the original key it didn't work, programmed a new key didn't work either ordered receiver module didn't work either, programmed a third key & somehow started. Repair was covered under warranty. Searched on the internet & found multiple cases, some say that they had same problem in more than one occasion. We were not in danger at any time, but if this incident occurs under cold weather conditions or in an unsafe location the story could be very different.

9 Car Will Not Start problem of the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500

Failure Date: 03/16/2008

1999 Dodge Ram 1500 truck with small v8 and 135,000 miles. Engine stops running with no warning. Odometer displays "no DC buss" sometimes code 920 and 921 appear. Dealer in maysville, ky 41056 replaced pcm unit. Dealer cannot id the fault codes. Engine still stops without warning. After towing the truck to the shop several times over a year and a half, the dealer recommends wiggling wires on the pcm plug. Wiggling the wires will permit engine restart but, it is not acceptable to have the engine die in traffic or to open the hood and play with it in the middle of the road. The engine dies often-multiple times on a short drive across town. The truck is not fit for use on roads without an emergency shoulder since it will die every time it is driven. Often the engine will not start when cold (several days since last use) until the wires are wiggled. Therefore, the problem is not due to heat. This problem is all over the internet on the Ram 1500 and durango.

When raining or high moisture the vehicle dies or will not start. Driving down the interstate several times it started to rain and the truck engine stopped running. Leaving me with no power steering and trying to pull off the highway in traffic. If raining or damp. When try to start, there is no such luck. We have to leave it sit in the drive unusable. When you turn the headlamps from high to low beam the lights go out. The engine light stays on most of the time.
