Electrical System Problems of Dodge Ram 1500 - part 2

I purchased my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 truck around may 2022 at a used car lot. It had low mileage so I thought I did great. Immediately after I brought it home, it began to die. I figured it had a really old battery so I purchased a new one. This one would last around 3 days instead of the one day before dying. I would drive it and jump it over and over. I tried to contact the dealer over and over but they would not respond to my calls. I wrote a terrible review about them in yelp and they contacted me immediately, but when I attempted to schedule a time to drop the truck back off, they stopped responding again. About 9 months later the truck stopped turning over all together. We found that the fuel pump was the issue. It sat for a year until I had it towed to the mechanic, who fixed the fuel pump, but found that the car would only run for a few seconds. He continued to diagnose it, and after weeks, he tells me that there is something terribly faulty with the electrical system, but he is stumped as to what it is. He says he does not see where anyone has tampered with the system at all, but there is something mysterious about the electrical component. I have put so much money into this truck including having to pay insurance and a high monthly payment for a dead truck. Please help me. I can provide documents after I meet with mechanic who still has truck.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but parts were not ordered. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. When driving the truck the vehicle randomly shuts down and I have to pull over or put it in neutral to restart it I believe there might be a problem with the tipm that Dodge has had a ongoing problem for years and ignored the issue.

When wet or in heavy rain, the battery will shut off and the truck will lose power steering. The truck speedometer will still work and the engine will run, but the battery voltage gauge drops to 0 and the radio and power steering turn off, dangerously, leaving you to have to steer without power steering for the truck.

I was driving from colorado to indiana and all the sudden I heard a noise so I pulled over to the right side of the road. When a man came across the median and got a fire extinguisher from his truck and stated for me and my 3 dogs to get out because my truck was on fire. He stated that the driver shaft was on fire with flames by my gas tank.

When the vehicle is running and at speed on the highway, interstate, or street occasionally the vehicle will shut off causing no lights if operating at night time and no power steering and gauge cluster is also off. After pulling over as safe as possible and jiggling the ignition key and turning ignition key to start the vehicle then it will start and run normally until the next incident accrues. I have found that the ignition on these particular vehicles go bad for whatever reason and lose contact which turns the vehicle off while driving at anytime. On my vehicle it doesn't accrue all the time but enough to make it very unsafe. My vehicle just turned 59,000 miles and haven't had any issues until now.

The vehicle dies and everything becomes disabled including all outside lights including the emergency flashers. Engine turns off and then will no restart. Sometimes this problem is intermittent but later completely fails. This is the second time in 2 years that this truck has died. The first time it happened on a foggy night. Th engine and all lights turned off at cruising speed leaving only some instrument cluster lights on which ends up bein even more of a distraction from the sudden outside darkness. After trying to find the side of the road in the darkness, then your emergency flashers do not work leaving the truck just a dark target in the road. This is extremely dangerous. Recently this same truck died a second time but thankfully after filling up a a gas station. After a quick search online, this has happened to many many Dodge ram owners from 2009 to 2016 maybe newer vehicles and also other models. The dealer refers to the problem being with a totally integrated power module (tipm). I just read that there have been many complaints filed already even with the NHTSA. Please continue to investigate, this is a major safety issue.

The key falls out of ignition while driving ,also the shifter can be moved without key in ignition it is the same problem as 10v200000 recall but my truck isn't included in recall search but it should, I know Dodge retooled in the middle of the 2009 year and the parts on my truck match a 2010 year model for which the recall is intended. This is a dangerous situation that isn't being addressed by seemingly a clerical error.

The fuel pump remains running after vehicle is turned off.

My 2012 Ram 1500 is experiencing issues with the win module and will shut off at any given time. It will sometimes not start and it has died on me on the interstate running 55mph+. The win module has been recalled on other models of Chrysler Dodge models but not the ram. It is a serious safety concern because often times I have my children in this vehicle and I loose steering when it shuts off. I've read in numerous forums and talked with other who are experiencing the same issue and have gotten no where with getting it fixed. I would like this safety issue to be investigated before me and my children or someone else is severely injured or killed because of this simple yet very expensive fix at owners cost.

Electrical components started to malfunction or not work. Driver side lock, radio, power to engine stalling. Vehicle was stationary believe the problem is the relay fuse compartment under the hood.

Tipm failure-totally integrated power module abruptly failed with no warning signs or nothing. . I took it in light to light systems not working. . Windows, headlights, this is hazardous for drivers. . Called the dealership and was told there is no recall nor has there been a prior issue. . They said my VIN number 1d3hb13t39s753166 has no recall they fixed the hvac I was in motion on a highway. .

The contact had the vehicle towed to bluebonnet Chrysler Dodge (547 s seguin Ave, new braunfels, TX 78130) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was an electrical failure and an unknown module failure. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred after several months. I turned the key to start the engine and as it started cranking smoke started coming out of the defroster and then fire started coming out the engine hood. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher handy and opened the hood and put out the fire. Wondered where the fire started so tried starting again and fire started immediately at the rear of the engine or on top of the bell housing. I also smelled fuel. The truck was next to my garage and had been driven a few days earlier. If I had not put out the fire my whole house could have burned down. I donated the truck to wheels 4 vets.

Truck sometimes shows life when in accessory but when put to on truck dies completely, obviously not going to turn over with no sign of life. Minutes later I can come back and start it no problem. Headlights will consistently stutter or even turn on or off while parked or moving. Lastly while driving sometimes all power and electrical shuts off and truck is completely dead while going any speed. I have not found a certain speed it dies because it has shut off in parking lots and going down highway. Power steering is gone and its scary to pull of side of road when some roads don't have much to work with or going at highway speeds and losing all power.

Vehicle was off and parked in driveway, upon entry the next morning found a smoldering fire and a burned ignition/steering column w/ extensive fire damage.

There is a clicking in the dashboard for a few minutes I tried common problems that would make that noise are the blower motor or blend door actuator replaced them and still the clicking happens but a cause of this clicking the air won't work or is good very slowly and causes my front windshield to fog up to the point at which I can't see out the front when my truck is not moving same result I. The city or freeway turning or on the street it will just turn on and off at random points and the clicking sound is coming from the little black box that I can't find d any information on.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, when the heater failed to operating properly and was unable to see clearly the road. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic and had the heater cord and thermostats was replaced. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation the contact associated the failure with NHTSA campaign number: 09v158000 (equipment), however the VIN was not associated. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was unknown. Dp.

Vehicle power failure while moving on three occasions. Vehicle loses all power including steering. Have already replaced several sensors and the pcm with no success. Very hazardous to me and all motorists around me.

The headlamp on the driver's side went out while driving home. I replaced it with a new one. It would not work. I got a second bulb and tried to replace the light again. Still would not work. I took the truck to three different repair shops and none of them could fix it. I was told it might be the fuse box.

There is a class action law suit for newer rams mine has always done same thing since I have owned it occasionaly during slow speed turns it will shut off it will restart imediatly I have owned vehicle 4 years bought with 127000 miles now have 205000 miles on it.

Truck started rumbling that sounded like when you go over rumble strips on the freeway if I replace the rear end and it's still doing it. The second thing is the transfer case has some kind of short in it that no one can figure out driving down the road it locks in lights out periodically so I had to disengage it so it wouldn't do that so I can drive it it would also go into neutral just randomly I was driving uphill when it happened and I had to replace the transmission that cost me $4,200 which I thought would fix the problem but it did not.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph when the smoke started coming from underneath the dashboard of the vehicle. The contact pulled to the side of the road and put out the fire with a fire extinguisher. The fire department was contacted and after looking at the vehicle reported that the airbag may have leaked and caused the fire. The contact stated that they heard a leaking air noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle's dashboard was burned and the vehicle was inoperable. The contact stated the vehicle remains on the side of the road at this time. The contact had not received any injuries. The contact had not contacted the dealership. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure 154,000. Gl.

Radio in truck stays on while truck is off and the keys are not in the ignition for long periods of time. Makes a dinging sound when the door is opened when the truck is off and keys are out of the ignition. Doors won't lock with the key battery opener during hot temperatures outside. The truck is stationary during these times and has happened several times. Unknown.

The tipm needs to be replaced. The air condition is cycling because of the problem with the tipm.

Dodge is aware of this issue. They have updated the part and there are many customer paid repairs. The control box for the heating and a/c system is defective and breaks at the blend door. When this happens, the blend door no longer works and it disables the defroster and a/c. On cool or cold days, the windshield can suddenly fog up and there is no way to clear the view as air does not blow in that direction. On hot days, the system can not push air out enough to keep the driver from excessive heat. The part number is 68004226ac. This part has been supersession chain of about 4 other numbers as Dodge corrected design flaws over the years. I would also note that because this involved a/c and heating, many people do not notify NHTSA of the concern, but it is very well documented and known. It is a very common problem that causes driving issues without being reported.

Tried to get the truck started and could not get it to work. Took the keys out and throw them up on the dash and the truck started and all electronical stuff in truck came on. Then when driving home it would rev up and down and would try to shut off when I had to stop.

Tl the contact owns a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. An independent towing company towed the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle back to the independent mechanic who informed the contact that the wire harness convertible box had a lot of corrosion around it and needed to be replaced. A collision shop was contacted. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.

Just caught fire burned up common problem lots of fires.

The tipm has gone up with less than 100,000 miles on the truck and its very costly also I have to keep replacing the blend door actuator I have done this like 4 times its a lot of money and a hassle why havent these things been recalled.

Cylinder ignition , key will not turn or start truck. Sprayed ignition spray worked for awhile then in Feb 8th stopped working won't start.

Head light switch will not turn lights on an off, does not matter if stationary or in motion.

Tipm low beams are not working caused by plug haveing no power coming out of tipm total integrated power module almost causing me to have a accident from not seeing the road I was driveing on . I have lights atm bypassed tipm with a on /off switch but should really be replaced kinda of a bad engineering on mopar side. And very dangerous.

Tipm/fcm failure, intermittent turn signals/hazard lights. Turn on left turn signal right signal comes on, other times no signals at all. Problem occures wether in park, driving, with engine off. Extremely common issue that has not been addressed with replacements costing over $400.
