When using the heater or air conditioner a toxic smell fills the cab causing metallic taste and occupants to have a headache. The factory says that they are aware of the problem and have even applied a star case number [xxx] with a release date of 10/24/2013. They say that the issue is bothersome but has no effect on durability or longevity of the cooling system. This is not my concern. My concern is, this toxic smell causing long term health problems or cancer? I have read many forums on the subject some dating back to March 2013. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I received a recall for my truck that had something to do with the air conditioning/heating. When I took my truck in to have the recall fixed, it was already not working. There is a knocking up under the dashboard, air/heat only comes out vents in dash and defrost, it will not blow out of other vents such as floor, etc. . I took my vehicle to the dealer to get the recall and problem fixed. Obviously my truck was already faulty due to the recall issue. When I picked up my truck, it was still "knocking" and the air/heat was not blowing out of all vents. I told the dealership it was not fixed and he told me that they fixed only what they were supposed to and I would have to "pay" to have the problem fixed! the problem occurred "as a result" of the recall, and I feel it is there responsibility to fix it. Then in July 2013, I called the same dealer to have a new recall fixed (rear axle pinion nut-NHTSA 13v-038). They did not have the part and needed to order it and told me they will call me when it arrived. Today, November 5, 2013, I still have not received a call from this dealership to fix my rear axle pinion nut. I have been taken advantage of by this particular dealership over and over again. The only time I take my vehicle to this dealership is to fix recalls and they still find ways to take advantage of me. For all other needs of my truck I go elsewhere! just need some direction on the pinion nut. I would like to have it fixed before it stops working and results in a crash. In addition, I still feel that the dealership should fix the air/heat issue, due to that fact that it stopped working as a result of the defect. I do not believe it will cause a crash unless it changes and quits blowing out of the defrost vents.

2004 Dodge ram 4. 7l automatic transmission. The design of the radiators with the plastic sides on the aluminum radiator core is defective. During the winter the radiator leaks on the passenger side near the coupling of the plastic to the aluminum. I think this is a safety concern since vehicles can overheat without proper anti-freeze levels, and leave owners stranded on the side of highways, and roads. Let alone it's not good for the environment nor animals that enjoy the taste of anti-freeze. This is the second time this has happened to me with this truck. I replaced the radiator with the same type a year ago, and now it's doing the same thing as before. This is an o. E. M. Radiator.

2004 Dodge 5. 7 hemi engine has 2 dropped the valve in the number 6 piston on two separate engines, resulting in castrophic engine failure and needing to replace the motor. There are several complaints of this happening on edmunds . Com. Almost all of the engines are between 70,000 and 80,000 miles. Dodge has not issued a recall to accept the defect and is costing their customers between 5k and 10k dollars an engine for those who do not now how to put the engine in. I am currently a Dodge mechanic and have recognized this problem and would like to make it public. Have brought this to Chrysler corporation's attention with no result. The government needs to step in and do something about this because Dodge is refusing there is an issue.
Vhicles are known to run hot, something to do with the headgasket, I am told. The rack and pinion leaks and has to be watched. They are bad to have dead cylinders I am not sure when this first was a problem, but the vehicle has been parked now for several months because of these problems. . It is my understanding that the auto company has made corrections to newer vehicles for these faulty components without notification of owners.

2002 Dodge 4x4 1500 4. 7l v8. Tons of owners of this make, model, and engine size have had the exact same problem with the 4. 7l v8. An issue that happens all of the sudden and leaves us stranded. Oil sludge, is the cause of overheating, rods and lifters ticking and knocking in the passengers side of the engine. What causes this problem is poor design of the block, and poor cooling for the engine. There are literally tons of complaints on line and in dealerships on this make, model, and engine size. And Dodge will not own up to this issue. It is extremely un safe for this engine to be driving around. There are little children and elderly people who could be left on the side of the road if this problem is not addressed.
At 26,000 miles the blend door for the air system broke (part # 68004226-ab). This caused the vents to be stuck in one position and could not get the defrost to work which became a safety issue since I could not defrost/defog the windshield. The part was replaced under warranty. I am now at 52,000 miles and the same part needs to be repaired again. This time out of warranty and at a cost of $740.
My 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 was in the shop for an a/c repair when they had to remove the dash board. About 3 months later a small crack appeared, followed by many more larger cracks. In 2 different parts of my dash board. The dash board continues to spider crack 9 months later. The dealer looked at it early on and never contacted me back saying it is a problem w/ these trucks. Nothing they will do about it. Treated me as if it was my fault. Blamed everything from the elements, the design, me and didn't care to help. My truck has been babied and has less than 60k miles. This is a defective dashboard/plastic and needs to be addressed. What's to happen if I am in an accident with airbags, this is my family vehicle. . . Will this become shrapnel? as I read other complaints this has been an on going issue. Why hasn't this been addressed, my truck has never be in an accident! no reason for this to happen. Bad enough that the a/c failed at 51,000 miles at a huge cost but to end up with a broken dash is wrong!.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 rack and pinion going out only 60,000 miles. . . . Also, they replaced a/c fan motor once. . . I paid several times. . . About to go out again (low humming noise is indicator - as noise increases, motor fails). I am so disappointed; as a special needs teacher I depend on this vehicle to transport me safely to and from my work. . . . Cannot depend on it. I hate it. . . It's been a pain since first problem with 18 miles on it!!! please, hold Dodge accountable for their mistakes. . . .
I have a 2004 Dodge 1500. On 18 Feb 10 for no apparent reason truck started to overheat. I have not taken it to a dealer yet but I understand this is a problem that is starting to develop with this vehicle and currently Dodge does not know what the issue is. Several items have been replaced on these vehicles but so far nothing has helped.
My recirculation door on my 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 broke the other night for no reason other then adjusting the ac controls. It seems that this seems to be a common problem caused by the recirculation door actuator putting to much torque on the plastic door. I only have 6,00 miles on the truck right now.
Air conditioning, will not blow cold air inside the cabin, a lot of noise but no air. Dealer fixed it. Flapper got stock in the down position. Not under warranty.
Head gasket failure 2nd set vehicle is requiring! entire engine faulty 2007 Dodge ram 4x4 quad cab 1500 approx 48,000 miles on the engine. This engine is original manufacturer warranty refuses coverage.

On Thursday August 28, 2008, I was leaving an interview going on the highway and all of a sudden my truck began to start smoking. I got out my vehicle and raised the hood to see what was going on. When I looked under the hood smoke was coming from the engine, and fluid was pouring out from the reservoir holes. I looked in my vehicle and the temperature gauge was at the half way mark and their was no indication lights on indicating that something was wrong. At this time I let my vehicle cool off and I added some antifreeze. I attempted to drive my vehicle and could only go about a half a mile down the highway and the same problem occurred again with no indications of the vehicle running hot. So at this time I called a towing service and had to wait approximately four hours for a tow truck to come and tow my vehicle home. The next day I had my truck towed to a mechanic and he said that the motor had burned up. I then had it towed to the dealer ship and when the mechanics their inspected my truck they said that the cooling fan inside the "ecm" had malfunctioned and that the motor was burned up. The service advisor said that I was going to need a new motor and that it was going to cost me approximately $7800. 00. Which I want the manufacturer to pay for since there was no indication of these problems.
1)left house in morning found while driving down rd truck was blowing white smoke from tailpipe 2)truck cuts off due to water leaking into cylinder#1 3)dealer service dept> found the head gasket was damaged and was amazed with just at 80,000 miles a damaged head gasket in the shape it is looks like it was not seated correctly.
Air conditioner does not perform correct speeds are to slow 3rd speed feels like 1st and water leaks on floor in front floorboards I think something came loose please let me know of any defects.
Front axle, I have replaced the front axles of my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 on both sides at 100,000 miles and the axle on the right side is now gone out again, 1. 5 years later. The oil pump has gone out along with all the tensioners, rear axle is going out, truck overheats and no one can find the problem.
Unknown leak of freon or other source of air conditioner failure. The ac pump runs almost constantly. Recharge had been attempted but only lasted for 1-3 days.

Driving the vehicle and notice performance issues, strange sounds and stalling, oil pressure gauge fell out, and was concerned for my safety. Pulled over and had to drive real slow with flashers to get home. Inspectors have told me that the engine had a cooling failure that caused the oil to sludge.
- the contact stated that when she got into her 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 (failure mileage: 100000) the seat belts were retracted and locked. The contact took the vehicle to the shop and they notified her of the recall on the retractor. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they were not aware of the recall and asked her to make an appointment. Updated 2/22/2007 - both front seat belt were locked in the retracted position and could not be used. The seat belt light is illuminated on the dash. The water pump has been replaced. The air conditioning has been replaced. The brake lines have been replaced. The rear end has been replaced. The driver's side window would not roll down.

The front wheel assembly, control arms, and wheel hubs had to be replaced by local dealer. I was told by a trained technician that the wheel's could have broken away from the vehicle while driving. The engine heater core and air conditioning main element stopped functioning and had to be replaced by local dealer. The rear differential, pinion bearings and cups stopped working at 77,400 miles and had to be replaced by local dealer. This was just 2,000 miles after the previous stated parts had malfunctioned. Old parts are only available from the rear differential, but invoices are available for all work performed.

Dodge ram 2001 318. While driving noticed vapor coming out of tail pipe. Checked all fluids and could not find anything wrong. Took vehicle to mechanic, ran a pressure test, and found a leak,. He sent both heads to machine and both heads were cracked. Mechanic sad if the temperature goes up the least bit the head will blow. The temperature gauge never got above normal.
Chrysler corp factory installed aan odd, defective a/c compressor unit with a housing that disintegrated, creating a large hole and spread metal particles throughout the system. Because this part was one of only a few odd ones installed, a new one had to be purchased at the Dodge dealership at a cost of $700, which is more than 3 times cost of part installed in majority of vehicles that year. An additional $632 had to be paid to the Dodge dealership to clear the system of metal debris and replace parts damaged. I consider their deceiving the consumer by putting in odd, poor quality (and expensive to replace) parts without disclosing it, fraudulent and dishonest. When a vehicle is made, the parts installed should be the same from the first one off the assembly to the very last one, so that the cost to replace is fair and affordable to the buyer. I have sent documentation, pictures, and receipts and requested reimbursement (which they have refused to do) of the costs I have incurred because of their fraudulent practices when concerned about making more profit. Appreciate your assistance with this matter. Thank you, rodney kirby.
When making a turn engine stops for no reason causing me to lose steering. Took one a vehicle to dealer who advised they could find nothing wrong.
Coolant overflow bottle defective design. Cap leaks coolant. Coolant level @ minimum still losing coolant. Dealer states when vehicle goes over rough roads, coolant spashes and leaks out the cap. Bottle replaced 3 times, continues to leak.
