The vehicle finally became inoperable at 119,000 miles due to lifter failure. Lifter issues started when the vehicle had about 106,000 miles on it. There were multiple misfire and gas mileage became worse. There was a loud ticking noise coming from the engine as well. Vehicle has been well maintained and only 1 owner, purchased new. With the lifter failure, this caused damage to the camshaft and which led to an excess amount of metal shavings to be spread throughout the engine. The vehicle ultimately had to get a engine replacement because of the excess metal shavings in the engine.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. During the failure, the power steering and power braking system became inoperable. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils however, the failure persisted. The engine has lifters ticking when cold and a loss of power during operation. The engine hesitates during driving at different times and runs rough. There is no warning before this happens and no warning lights/sensors activated. The truck only has 76k miles on it.

The engine has this ticking sound that has progressively gotten louder and now the engine shakes. My truck has turned off multiple times in traffic at a random and I would presume it’s from a failing engine.

My 2011 Ram 1500 5. 7l has a faulty tipm. Fuel pump cuts out, causing stalling and intermittent operation, starting vehicle becomes problematic while commuting. Vehicle will sometimes not start at all and will remain stuck in an ignition loop. Continues to throw random check engine codes. I have had several near miss collisions while driving due to its unsafe condition I took the vehicle in to have a diagnostic done and a licensed Chrysler dealer deduced the vehicle has a faulty tipm, which correlates to the mass recall on the 2011 Ram 1500 models however my VIN does not show its associated with the many models of 2011 Ram 1500 when I cross referenced this.

My truck first started having trouble starting . When driving engine it would shut-off at anytime making it dangerous to steer and breakdown in traffic. There was no fault codes or warning lights on dash . After doing testing I found that the fuel pump relay was shut-off. Tipm is faulty and all Chrysler that have this style of tipm should be added to recall . I purchased a external fuel pump relay harness to repair tipm.

Warning light came on suddenly. Vehicle lost power. Smoking out of the tail pipe. Very dangerous for other drivers. Took the vehicle to a mechanic, said I have problems with the lifters, and need to replace the engine. I don’t know why Chrysler doesn’t issue a recall for this issue, it seems to happen often. My truck went into anti-theft mode for no apparent reason and stranded me on a hot day in a parking lot. The engine would not run for more than 2 seconds.

Catalytic converter, sensors, knocking loss of power, bogging , hot and cold engine , was on a road trip back home passing a 18 wheeler and it starts to lose power boggs down and then takes off , steering wheel was iffy, fumes are stong in and out of truck. Threw my suitcase and dog in floor . I have replaced sensors , knock sensor , coils, sparks plugs - no fix muffler shop said catalytic is not plugged up . Sent me to mechanic said ram / Dodge designed these years messed up common problem ,one mechanic telling me new engine parts might fix won’t pass inspection so now it just sits and drys up that’s not right for what it has cost my insurance said there nothing they can help with it only has 84k miles please emission and knock common problem that is mana factory defect surely loss of power in traffic scary please help with insurance and parts , gas I have no money for deep engine problems 84 k should still run like new truck the trip there drove great then I went to start to go back home 2 days later and knocking and wouldn’t drive putting scanner said sensor . This truck was running awesome I like driving . But to malfunction no reason. The codes are not right . Need my truck back on the road I live in texas has to pass emission to get inspection sticker.

My husband was driving about 20mls per hrs when our truck cought fire the whole front of our truct cought fire. The front mirror and everything if distroit due to the fire .

Engine compartment caught fire while driving. Could not put out fire vehicle was total loss.

The headlights no matter what bulbs I buy are extremely dim making it unsafe to drive at night. Now truck will not start for some unknown reason. It tries to turn over but will not crank. The mileage flashes no bus. I was literally only getting at best 8 miles per gallon.

There was complete cam and lifter failure and it can be inspected. I was driving on the freeway and suddenly all power was lost and the truck started shaking. Once we got off the freeway, the truck started shaking horribly when we hit 3k rpm. We became an obstruction in the road and driving was dangerous. It is reproduced and confirmed by the dealer. It has been inspected. The check engine went on the same time the truck started shaking.

My 2012 Dodge ram shuts off or stalls for no apparent reason. Sometimes upon starting, while going down the freeway (at freeway speeds), as well as speeds in between, this has happened with my family in the vehicle and even when we are towing our stock trailer with animals inside. This is very scary for all of us and dangerous for all those on the round around us. While we have not been involved in any accidents, its just a matter of time. There is never any warning when this happens and it not only shuts off it looses power to everything. So times it catches its self and restarts, other times we have to manually restart the engine.

Exhaust manifold failed (warped and broke bolts) for second time since owning my 2012 Ram 1500 causing dangerous exhaust leak that then enters the cabin of the vehicle causing dangerous conditions for the occupants.

I recently figured out a problem with my truck that is an extreme danger. When you fill up the fuel tank at any gas station, it seems that the fuel enters the vapor canister and makes the engine stall for about a mile before it starts running properly. After several close encounters after filling the tank, I looked upon other threads of Dodge ram owners and found this to be a common problem that was never addressed by Chrysler and never acted upon by nhta. Please look into this and advise a course of action to have Chrysler repair this problem. . It is a matter of time before either I or another with the same problem are seriously injured or killed due to this defect. Many thanks in advance!!.

This vehicle had last been started and driven 7 hrs prior and exploded in the driveway, caught the house on fire and nearly killed my son who was near the inside wall of the house. The engine blew and then the front tires. Three explosions in all before the fire department was able to stop the fire. Luckily they were only a mile away. This was an older but well running vehicle.

Unknown will be driving down the road and the truck will shut off. When this happens it also affects the power steering and the power brakes. Has happened at a spotlight and I had to push it thru a busy intersection. Has happened going down the road just at random. No warning. But it does show (no bus) when this happens but it does not trigger a code or engine light try to start it and it will not start. Sometime it's only a few minutes up too 1/2 hour the last time it cut off.

The air bag light is on and it has a recall the lights behind the gages went out and the engine has a knock at times.

Tensioner for timing chain broke at highway speed truck stalled with no control or power steering to steer or breaks to immediate stop instead had to slow roll lucky live in small farm town with low population not alot of traffic could have been bad. Took to dealer Dodge service department they noticed oil pan gasket was leaking when removed oil pan the tensioner and timing chain pieces were all in the bottom of oil pan. . Just like the challenger and charger cars the next group to have same motor as my truck and same issues with the mds being the problem on the tensioner why breaks in first place. Why theres recalled and not my same motor and problem? any ways it failed and had to pay out of pocket on a faulty tensioner that is a very big safety concern and it I'm afraid caused more damage then that to other internal parts of my engine. . .

I want to make a complaint because the engine in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 magnum stalling very often, engine stalling on the traffic freeway couple of times that I have to restart the vehicle quick, good thing cars going slow. The most scary time was when I was making a right turn on this busy avenue and the engine stalled and almost got hit by other's cars the engine stalling very often that already know when it dies I put it on p and restart it as quick as I can before I get hit by other car. The next issue. It makes a grinding sound underneath when taking off at very low speed. I not sure if it is the differential or a wheel but it something there I took it to the mechanic he fix something that was woren it connects to the differential but still makes the noyse. Too many problems with this truck.

My family has owned 3 5. 7 hemi vehicles all ranging from the years of 2002-2006 and they have all had the engine randomly seize up on us while driving almost causing major accidents, two of these vehicles are still owned one in an auto shop. I do not believe that this is a coincidence, I believe this is a manufacturer fault that needs to answer to and possibly pay back everyone effected by this event. The auto shop I have the truck at is lott's auto in junction city, KS and they themselves know of this fault as well. This needs to be answered to, it is a safety issue and a waste of money to people who trust Dodge with these vehicles, the auto shop informed me this is with the 5. 7 hemi from all years between 2000-2011. Please investigate this and hold Dodge accountable.

When driving the truck the vehicle randomly shuts down and I have to pull over or put it in neutral to restart it I believe there might be a problem with the tipm that Dodge has had a ongoing problem for years and ignored the issue.

The camshaft is defective and prematurely wearing down due to the lifters. Causing a warning code to come on give a p0300 code and and check engine light to flash at a random mulitipule misfire to come up will cause the truck to die at times causing a crash. Luckily I was able to park it before that happened and now can't drive it because of the saftey hazzard.

Vehicle has 113,000 miles on it now, the engine is knocking so I brought it in to weber in detroit lakes minnesota they say it needs cams and lifters e c t. Estimate is $5,000 or new engine $9,000 so now I can't get to work! I commute back and forth every day 70 miles each way, this vehicle should not have this problem as of yet in my eyes! will the factory / dealership warranty this fix for me? I purchased vehicle from weber in detroit lakes almost four years ago with 80,000 miles on it I have only driven at 33,000 miles since then!! I don't have that kind of money for this fix nor can I afford to buy a replacement vehicle but now the knocking you can hear it outside the vehicle but you cannot hear it in the cab of the vehicle so how long has this problem actually been going on before the fact of me noticing it just very recently so then I quit driving it immediately and brought it directly to weber as per appointment.

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5. 9l was driving dow hey 10 when my back tries locked up couldn't get it in gear or out almost crash when got it on to side of road and stopped when it finally was able to go in a gear it was reverses and it would just make this god awful grinding nose truck was towed back home.

I turned the key to start the engine and as it started cranking smoke started coming out of the defroster and then fire started coming out the engine hood. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher handy and opened the hood and put out the fire. Wondered where the fire started so tried starting again and fire started immediately at the rear of the engine or on top of the bell housing. I also smelled fuel. The truck was next to my garage and had been driven a few days earlier. If I had not put out the fire my whole house could have burned down. I donated the truck to wheels 4 vets.

Rocker arm came off lifter, broken lifter spring. Told it was a common valve seat failure issue for this vehicle. 147,000 regular maintenance was performed. Shop said they have seen this many times. Poor design/material.

The vehicle was repaired and the proper oxygen sensors were replaced; however, the contact stated that when he drove over 45 mph, all warning lights would illuminate on the instrument panel and that an abnormal noise was heard coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. Additionally, during the repair the contact was informed that the rear differential had loose bolts and would also need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however the VIN was not available at the time of the call therefore a case could not be opened. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 240,000.

Owner of j. P. Direct auto sales in florence, ky sold me a vehicle with odometer discrepancies. The owner sold the vehicle at a little over 133,000 miles but the odometer has never rolled over since I drove the truck off the lot. Furthermore, a mechanic performed an engine light reading that indicated an issue tripped around 146,000 miles. The owner is not owning up to the odometer discrepancy and making returning the truck very difficult.
