This will be the 4th time since late 2020 that this vehicle will stall either at a stop or at low speed. Egr valve has been replaced 3 times. You lose power steering and harder to brake but for the grace of god my wife has not had an accident. If you search online there are hundreds of similar complaints.

The total integrated power module failed and it's a common problem in all Chrysler and Dodge vehicles. That fails the engine runs rough, ac, brake light, turn signal, horn, wipers, stop working and transmission stays in 1st gear. The lights on the das stay brakes, abs, seatbelt, check engine light and air bag. . . This is an specially when the module fails while driving in the road. Dealers know it's a common problem but they rather have customer pay for a new tipm.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. While the vehicle was parked briefly, an internal fire occurred. The air conditioning line to the compressor had a hole in the rubber and melted due to the fire. The contact looked under the hood and noticed that the wiring, air conditioning line, hoses, and other components behind the alternator assembly were damaged. The dealer (golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram, 2405 s telegraph rd, bloomfield hills, mi 48302, (248) 334-3600) was notified and stated that there were no recalls. The manufacturer was notified of the fire. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.

My fuel pump quit while using my truck! traced it back to the fuse box. Integrated fuse is to blame. I can not fix this due to availability of the part. And price! normally you have a relay to change! but no! ideas???.
My 2005 Dodge ram has been stalling while idiling at stop lights/signs. It was throwing a code of p0115. I have now replaced the throttle body, egr valve, thermostat, ect sensor, and cam sensor . The truck is at the Dodge dealers for now 9 days. The service tech are pulling out their hair trying to find the issue. I see that other Dodge trucks and cars have the same problem. So why is there not a recall on this item? this is a safety concern. Especially when the truck dies while turning I could get hit. I have been dealing with this on my own for the past three months. Now the service techs are at their wits end too.
While driving at freeway speeds my truck completly shut off, I lost power to everything, including power steering. I had previous had my truck into the dealership for problems with my fuel pump staying on and learned it was a problem with the tipm (totally integrated power module) which Chrysler is aware of and has recalls for some vehicles in certin states. The symtoms my truck is having is the same listed in many of the complaints, ie. Vehicles randomly shutting off, fuel pump staying on and draining the batteries, air bags randomly deploying. After researching multiple fourms and website I found its a very common problem among Chrysler vehicles. This needs to be addressed before someone gets hurt or killed due to faulty parts and equipment.

Traveling on highway feeder road at approximately 4:45 pm at approximately 30-35 mph. Prepared to come to a stop at an approaching intersection controlled by 3 way stop signs. As I began to slow down the truck stalled out. The light over the d on the gear selector was flashing and the dash panel indicated that I should shift into park and restart the vehicle. I coasted to a safe stop, applied the brake and shifted to stop and restarted the vehicle. I remained on the feeder and the truck repeated the incident at the very next intersection. I got the truck running again and pulled into a gas station and called the local Dodge dealership and talked to the service department who said they had never heard of this happening. This same incident happened three weeks ago but we thought it was a fluke. Weather was average for this time of year. Rainy and 43 degrees. Had the heater running, the seat and steering wheel heater on. Turned them all off concerned that they might be part of the cause.

Engine has stalled intermittently in the past, usually at low speeds (I. E. When pulling out of driveway or street or shifting from drive to reverse when parking. Multiple times, there was no warning and vehicle just cut off in middle of road, with no power steering or brakes. Luckily no accident, but this seems like it could be a dangerous situation. I never thought anything of this before because it happened so infrequently and vehicle always restarted. This morning the vehicle stalled while standing in line at gas station (after filling tank), and then multiple times after that. This is new since in the past, it would stall once and be fine. This seems to be a degradation of something, but no engine lights are on, so no codes to check. The crankshaft position sensors was replaced recently after and engine light came on and vehicle would not start. The sensor replacement has fixed that problem and this seems unrelated to the stalling issue.
Driving at a speed of 45 mph the truck--2008 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 7 hemi-- died. I had no power steering. I was able to shift into neutral and stop. Very thankful I was on a country lane and not on a freeway because there was no warning and I could have been in a horrible accident. The check gauges light icon was flashing as I tried to re-start it. It would crank but not start. After waiting for 15 minutes it did start up again. The engine icon light was showing and it said that an oil change was needed. The oil change wasn't due yet for another 1000 miles, or, two weeks on my three month schedule. I get the oil changed every three months. It tried to stall from then on as I accelerated from a stop, on my way to to the dealer. The diagnostic showed a code for the egr valve, which was replaced. This was fixed four days ago and so far so good, but am very anxious when I drive now, worrying that it might happen again, especially after seeing so many posts online with others experiencing the same problem with their Dodge ram trucks. This truck has 35,300 miles on it. This truck was serviced six weeks before this incident with: a 16 cylinder hemi tune-up; a throttle body service, fuel induction flush and fuel system treatment; transmission service with filter change; machined front and rear rotors; and tire rotation.

Front wheel bearings went out and yhe egr valve went out also.
I bought an 04 Ram 1500 5. 7 hemi that had around 80k miles on it when I bought it in oct 2010. It was awesome the first and a half I had it, only minor repairs I. E battery, idler pulley, ignition switch. I did regular maintenance on it as well as oil changes. In late March 2012 I went to put gas in my truck and it would not let me put more than 10 or 15 cents in before it would "back fill" I was trying to figure out what the problem could be with that, then in early April 2012 I was driving home after running some errands, the truck had run great all day just like normal, but about 8 miles from house I hear this "thunk" and I have no power and I had this awful shaking and rattling noise. There were not even any warning lights telling we that there was something wrong, I called someone to tow it home that night. I did thankfully have another car to drive. In the months since I have been slowly tearing the engine apart with my dad, this week we finally pulled the heads and discovered that my # 6 piston was completely disintegrated and had punched a hole in my block! my original thought was that this was just a random fluke and it was just mine, but after reading on some Dodge forums I see that it was not just mine! this is ridiculous for an engine that has no more miles than this and had been properly maintained. My parents have a 1999 Ford f150 that has almost 300k on it and has not been maintained nearly as well. . . Read more...

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 7l hemi will stop running while driving. The engine completely shuts off while the vehicle is driving and the steering locks up. I have had several close calls and am currently seeking help in this matter. This is an extremely dangerous problem. I've taken it to three mechanics who have replaced all the oxygen sensors, the mass air flow sensor, throttle body, egr valve, air intake filter and the crank shaft sensor. There seems to be no end to this and everyone is just shooting in the dark. The dealerships do not get a code when they hook up to the vehicle. I am in fear of my safety. I have found several other people on the internet with the same problem.
2004 Ram 1500 5. 7 hemi stalls at low engine speeds, often at stop signs, traffic lights, or parking lot maneuvers. Will usually start immediately back up, sometimes requires slight accelerator pressure when cranking in order to obtain self-sustaining engine speed. During decelerations, engine rpm is erratic and will often encounter a transient drop in rpm's to approximately 400 rpm before engine dies. Issue seems to be more common and severe in cold weather, or when engine is cold, but has occurred under all conditions. This has been a persistent problem for about two years, happening anywhere from once a day to a dozen times. Multiple dealerships and mechanics have looked at this, without result. The computer has been updated, the sensors, egr valve, and intake manifold cleaned, and the throttle body has been replaced. Still not fixed. Vehicle has been well maintained and has less than 55k miles. This is an expensive, dangerous, and frustrating condition.
I don't remember the exact date or mileage as the first failure's were low in frequency. The truck dies after filling up with fuel. You can be up to speed but normally happens shortly after fill up and entering traffic. No trouble lights are showing on the dash and truck normally starts back up fairly easily, although sounds flooded. Now the truck does this at almost every fill up. No code diagnostics are showing. I have replaced the egr and spark plugs, no change.
2004 Dodge Ram 1500, v8, stalls when pressing brake and releasing, coming to a stop at an intersection. Also stalls sometimes when moving at a low speed, has stalled two times while driving down the middle of the road. Usually starts back up, there has been a couple times that it does not start up. Last time I checked, it is very dangerous to have your vehicle stall while driving down the road, stopping at an intersection, or, going at a low speed. Someone is going to be killed! and no one seems to know the fix to this. I have replaced the egr valve and the brake switch, neither have worked. Dodge needs to own up and fix this problem.
This incident has now happened more than once and I am quite concerned. As I drive my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 v8 hemi, it stalls on me without warning. Prior to this the svc engine light would come on. I took it in to autozone w/a registered egr sensor, valve, etc. I replaced the valve, cleaned out the throttle. The light went away after this fix. But as I stated, as I drive the vehicle it continues to shut off w/no notice at all. I thought to prompt an investigation as all of my online findings would indicate the exact same problem.
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 4. 7 liter v-8. The problem like many others have had is that the truck will rev up and down at idle and slow speed. After the truck stalled, almost getting me in a sever crash at an intersection while towing my boat, I took it to the dealer. They said the egr valve was bad and replaced it. This worked for about a year now the problem is back.

During decelerations, engine rpm is erratic and will often encounter a drop in rpms to approximately 400 rpm before engine dies. Multiple dealerships and mechanics have looked at this, without result. The computer has been updated, the sensors, egr valve, and intake manifold cleaned, and the throttle body has been replaced. I have a 05 Dodge Ram 1500 with hemi eng. About 6 months ago it starting stalling from time to time. Usely when I slow down to stop the eng shut off. It will restart but not normal, I have to push the gas pedal down, its starts up and is ok for days. If I am above 60 mph when it malfuction it will start surging and I shift to nutural and riv the eng up and put it back in drive and its ok again . I am below 60 mph when malfuction occures the eng quits. The tem is always below 50 degrees. Took to Dodge dealer they charge me 66 dallors to tell me they could not determ the problem . And they would not let me talk to their machanics . If I could talk to them we might could figure out the problem, I suspect it has something to do with the electronic throttle control.
My truck stalls as I come to a stop. This happens probably about 4 times a month since the date above. The dealership hasn't been able to find the problem. I have read on forums online that a ton of other people are having the same problem. Some say it has to do with erg valve and it should be recalled. They said they replace the egr valve and the problem is fixed.
When the truck is at a lower idle speed like 5 or 10 mph such as at a stoplight or stop sign, it will stall. This happens about once or twice a week pretty regularly. Another way it will stall is getting onto the freeway at about 30 to 40 mph the truck will stall and just shut off. The power steering shuts off along with the interior lights and radio. This forces the driver to have to pull over on the freeway and can really cause an accident. This has happened to me three times in the last 3 years. I changed the egr valve and that was supposed to fix the problem but even with no codes or engine light on, it is still stalling at stoplights and low rpm situations. The local Dodge dealership cannot find anything wrong since there is no codes coming up. Also reading the problem on websites such as carcompaints. Com, it seems this problem is alot more common than I ever thought and suprised it has not been a recall yet.
My 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5. 7 liter hemi stalls inconsistently. This has happened several times over the last 3 years, on the highway and when slowing down at stop lights. The truck has always started right back up until yesterday. I was in traffic, going about 30 mph when it shut down. I tried repeatedly to start the truck back up; it finally did after several tries. I learned that issue is synonymous with 2004 rams. We have already replaced the throttle body and egr valve. This is obviously a safety issue. We pull a horse trailer on regular bases and can not take the chance of someone hitting us due to stalling, let alone losing control of the vehicle. What an outrage that Dodge doesn't take responsibility for this!! I love my truck, but now I am shopping for a new truck, not Dodge, with a heavy heart.
I own a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 4. 7l qc. Purchased new. I have had numerous incidents where the vehicle has shut off when braking upbruptly to a stop. At times while stopped, the truck idles high and the truck surges forward then shut off completely. I have to put in park and restart the truck. There has been times while in a the middle of a busy intersection when it would die. I have had other cars have to stop or maneuver away from me to avoid collision. It is at the point where I am afraid to drive this in heavy traffic. I have taken to the shop where they said it was a sticky egr valve. But it still continues. The dealership only wants to patch the problem then send you off. I am not suprise there hasnt be a fatally with this issue.
The truck just stalls out occasionally when you're going around a corner in city traffic (around 15mph). The truck loses power steering and brakes. Its really hard to steer a vehicle that big without when it stalls out and my wife was lucky to not get hit from behind or crash into another vehicle. The dealer has replaced the egr valve twice and replaced the ecm, once in 2007 and then this year. Hopefully, this will fix the issue permanently, but I have my doubts.
I own a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 slt 4x4 5. 7l v-8 hemi. This truck and stalling out have become synonymous. Within the first six months of owning the truck I notice that whenever I would cold start the truck and put it into gear the rpms would drop and the truck would stall. Similarly it would stall out whenever I was coming out of reverse and into drive (after backing up). I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the problem as a faulty crimp in the spin up transmission filter. They replaced the filter and everything was fine for about a year. The truck started dying on me again only this time the check engine light would come on and off at random intervals (not seemingly related to the truck dying). I took it in and this time they diagnosed a faulty egr valve. Apparently is was sticking open and causing the truck to run lean and stall out. They replaced it and what do you know. . . About a year later (yesterday) I was coming home from work and the truck started shuddering and dying and had no power under acceleration. . . The check engine light came on and now here it sits in the shop. . . Again for the same problem. Three times this truck has actually put my safety in jeopardy by dying in the middle of the road (the second time was in the middle of the highway during rush hour and I nearly avoided a collision). I've done some research and apparently this is a common problem. I have found hundreds of complaints online for this very same problem and have even found people who claim to have gotten into accidents because of this vehicle stalling. Dodge cannot determine the cause of this problem and because they cant/wont investigate hard enough they will not issue a recall. How many people have to get into accidents or die because of this problem before it gets elevated to higher attention levels?.
The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. During acceleration and deceleration at any speed, the vehicle would stall and then immediately restart. The engine warning light illuminated on the instrument control panel prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the egr was potentially causing the failure, but was not certain. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 73,000.
Egr malfunction at 29,800 miles just bought from dealer at 28,500 find it hard to believe an egr valve can fail at this mileage and isn't covered under emissions warranty.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 quadcab lwb. While driving 65 mph in below zero temperatures, the pvc return system causes the vehicle to squirt oil into the engine. As a result, the defrost system becomes clogged and fails. The windows were unable to defrost and left oil residue on the windshield. The failure has caused severe eye burnings, stomach pains, and choking of the occupants. The manufacturer stated that there was no mechanical failure and no parts available. They were unable to determine and correct the failure. When the parts arrive, the repair will cost $400. The manufacturer also advised the contact to drive in temperatures above zero degrees. The failure and current mileages were 70,050.
The contact owns a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving 65 mph, the valve spring failed and was sucked into the engine. The engine failed and the entire vehicle shut down. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the engine needed to be replaced. The cost to replace the engine is $7,500. The purchase date was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 100,000.

I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5. 7 liter with 48k miles that has had numerous problems (e. G. Erg valve replaced, power steering reservoir (currently being replaced), and engine stalling at an idle, while turning, while backing up, or coasting. The stalling occurs out of the blue as if someone flipped a switch causing the engine to die. The electrical stays on, just the engine dies. Most of the time it starts right back up but sometimes it takes awhile. The stalling has happened numerous times and is very unpredictable. The stalling began about three - four months ago. I currently have it in for repairs at lee's summit Dodge, lee's summit missouri.
On Monday September 17th while idling in park my 2003 Dodge ram with 42,000 miles began to shake, make noise like there were rocks in the engine, and then shut off. I had it towed to century Dodge in taylor michigan on telegraph road at roughly 9am on Tuesday September 18th and was told at roughly 4:55pm that they had not had a chance to look at it. At 9:30am on Wednesday I again spoke to the service department and was told they would have an answer for me by the end of the day. At 8:30am on Thursday September 20th my wife called and was told that they again have not had a chance to look at it but they would have an answer to her by lunch time. They did call her at 11:30am and from what I understand, the valve spring in the number 7 cylinder head broke which caused the connecting rod to drop. Apparently this is on the left side of the cylinder head. Chrysler is replacing the left cylinder head, the lower block, and the exhaust intake. Chrysler however will replace the parts in the right cylinder head that failed on the left side with new springs. I am no mechanic but common sense tells me that the same springs that were used on the number 7 cylinder valve were used on the other 7 cylinder valves. Am I going to be stuck with a $6,000 engine repair at 71,000 miles? all I am asking for is Chrysler to replace all the defective parts whether they have failed or not. Or extend the powertrain warranty to 83,000 miles which will prove to me that the valve springs have and will last for more than 42,318 miles. For someone that has owned Chrysler products all his life and believe that they are the best products out there this has left a very sour taste in my mouth and actually considering going to either chevy or Nissan for my next truck purchase which hopefully isn't 30,000 miles from now. If Chrysler truly stood behind their products it would be something they would have suggested rather than tell me that they will only replace parts that have failed.
Originally had a problem with the egr position sensor and the dealership re programmed this with new software this took place 02/07/06. Seemed to take care of original stalling issue. Then on 12/2/06 I was exiting the freeway and my truck was shaking bad. I could tell that the engine was misfiring. If the engine went down to an idle it would stall, which it did several times, leaving all system components powerless (no steering or brakes etc). I had my pregnant wife in the truck with me at the time. Putting her in danger this way left me less than thrilled. We took it to a dealership right away. They told us that cylinder #4 was not firing (no compression) and two other cylinders had limited compression. They ended up calling some Dodge tech. Line. Since the dealership said that they couldn't find a TSB regarding this problem. Turned out there is one in existence #02021 from 11/4/2002. The tech line said it sounds like one or more valve springs could be broken. The dealership in fact took the valve covers off and sure enough there is a broken valve spring. They told us several others seem weak. I have 71,500 miles on the truck and you guessed it surprise the warranty expired at 70,000. This is going to cost around $1200. 00 out of pocket!!! I want Dodge to back this problem. There are alot of discussion boards with innocent people that have the same problem. A broken valve spring is an obvious error on the engineers end of things. . . Bad design. . . . . Faulty metal. This is not a wear and tear issue. I have heard that Dodge is on their 3rd design on the valve springs for these trucks. Obviously they are aware of the problem. If they have to keep re-manufacturing. But that puts the rest of us that have the original design in harms way. It is a very scary feeling to have you truck quit on you in the middle of rush hour traffic. Thank god that nothing happened to me or my wife.
Since I first bought this truck in 2005 its had a pretty serious problem with stalling out when coming to a stop, and even worse, sometimes mid turn while moving. This is a very dangerous issue since loss of control is eminent in this type of incident. Along with this stalling out, the truck has a rough idle/surging idle issue when at a stop. Ive tried all types of repairs, and spent alot of money trying to fix this issue with no avail. I took it into Dodge after I first bought the truck and they said they could not recreate the problem and everything was fine. I took it in again and they cleaned the throttle body. Still same issue. Now ive replaced, out of my own pocket, the egr valve, throttle body itself, evap purge valve, and have tried a list of other remedies. Still not fixed. After a quick search of many different Dodge ram club online forums this is a very very very common issue with these trucks, and all of us owners are fed up. Dodge wont take responsibility for this serious issue, and unfortunately people may die because of this. Please help us!.
The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. The stated that he had to replace the water pump due to leakage. Three years later the shaft bearing in the water pump failed, which caused the serpentine belts to break. Engine failure while driving increases the risk of vehicle crash. He speculates that the water pump housing has been sand glassed. He then added that the water pump material was aluminum, which eventually degrades and causes the failure. He replaced the water pump again but the repair was insufficient. The failure mileage 70,000. The current mileage is 147,000.

Engine failure, 1999 Dodge 5. 2 liter v8. Purchased used vehicle with 75,000 original miles in 2003. Truck in very nice condition, and well maintained. Last week on a daily drive it seems a coonecting rod snapped and blew through the oil pan. The engine is now garbage. I previously owned a 1987 Dodge ram pick-up and regretfully sold it with a mere 175,000 mile on it. That truck would run rings around the "new ram tough" junker sitting in my driveway. I would request Dodge to give me a more dependable engine, like the one in my 1987. I don't need the "sweet" glitz associated with their new technology.
