Exhaust manifold bolts broken. Causes ticking on start up. Its bad on your engine and it won't pass emissions. How has an investigation not been done on this?! so many complaints on forums, facebook, even on here. With less then 80k miles this is ridiculous.
The engine cooling has a bad design for the exhaust manifolds so 2 bolts on each side broke off in the engine block and now there is large exhaust leaks on both sides of the engine. This is the most common defect I have seen by talking to people and on any forum and am very surprised this isn't a recall already.
Exhaust manifold stud/bolt failure causing exhaust leak and ticking noise. Passenger side.
The manifold bolts on the 5. 7 hemi break sometimes breaks off in the head and are not easily removed. Thus causing an exhaust leak (aka hemi tick). And my truck only has 77000 miles on it. Bought used so no warranty to cover the repairs.
Typical bolts sheared off inside the block and an exhaust manifold leak causing a tick. This the 2nd Dodge ram that I have owned. Both have had the exact same problem (my previous truck had I twice(!) while I owned it). If you look at any number of online forums you will see that I am about the millionth person that has had this same problem happen. Literally every single one of these has this problem. Apparently Dodge has released a statement (though I can not confirm) stating that the combination at the exhaust manifold of cast iron, aluminum, and weak bolts makes this happen over & over again. This should be a recall and Dodge should have to fix this.

Driving on highway started to hear tapping noise coming from front passenger side exhaust manifold found two broken exaust manifold bolts that were making this tapping noise. My truck only has 90,ooo + miles on it has never been off road I'm the original owner on this truck has never been abused ever, and know this happens please look into this exhaust leaking problem. Why would this happen,I've never experienced this kind of problem before, me and my wife are really concerned about exhaust fumes know driving around town what should we do. A mechanic is trying to charge me over $500. 00 for this fix and no guarantee that new bolts are not going to break again.

On my 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 hemi I have broken bolts on my exhaust manifold, something is wrong with my hvac system in my truck also. Both of which I see are very common problems with these trucks.
2009 Dodge Ram 1500 there is a manifold bolt that is inferior/defective part dealership has admitted they know it is. . They are replacing atleast one a week. This bolt can break off and cause the motor to cease. . . Warranty will not replace and this is happening to hundreds of people its in all Dodge forums. . . $400 + to replace this definitely needs to bd a recall only 50,000 miles on truck.
While driving my vehicle down the road the valve seat dropped out of the head into the cylinder causing catastrophic engine damage the valve cover seal blue off oil poured onto my heated exhaust manifold nearly catching on fire smoking almost causing accidents on the road.
2009 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5. 7 hemi, my issue is concerning "the hemi tick" which is actually broken exhaust manifold head bolts. Seems like everybody that has this year model has the exact same problem. I have 2 broke bolts on the passenger side. The bolts happen to be the same bolts holding on the exhaust manifold shield in the rear of the motor. The cost to fix the issue is moderately expensive and if not addressed could easily cause more serious issues. The exhaust leak can be identified by the ticking sound (usually at start up until motor warms up and seals the leak) and should be replaced with stronger bolts that allow for the temperature changes.
Exhaust manifold bolts are rusted away. Thinking this could be a emission issue. Did research on it looks like there is alot of issue complaints out there on it.

Right side manifold leak bolts are broke and need to be replace because of weak bolts used to secure the manifold. This happened when traveling on the highway nearly causing a accident.
Ticking nose from passenger side of truck under the hood near the wheel. Got underneath truck and found two bolts had broken off manifold. After looking on the internet found there are alot of other owners of this same truck with same issue, ram/Dodge needs to fix this problem, I think issue is from to much heat. The sound is at its best when truck is started the first time of the day / cold out.
Bolts on exhaust manifold broke, allowing exhaust gases to vent to atmosphere bypassing the exhaust system.

Tl- the contact owns a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that the bolts on the exhaust manifold had broken off. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer, but was told that since their the second owner and the vehicle was no longer under warranty it would not be replaced. The contact stated that the bolts did not rust through. The bolts just broke off. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 83000. Rl.
When slowly accelerating from a stop I could hear a rattling/vibration sound coming from the passenger side of vehicle. This progressively got worse until I found the heat shield on the passenger side exhaust manifold was loose due to broken stud bolts. I did not repair immediately as I thought the break was superficial (outside the manifold). Over the next month a slight exhaust leak could be heard, which has gotten very loud now. There is clearly at least one broken exhaust manifold bolt on passenger side. I am second owner (purchased at 19,000 miles), so lifetime warranty is no longer valid. I fear this leak could cause poisonous carbon monoxide gas to fill the cabin of my truck while driving with my wife and children. With the number of complaints regarding this exact same issue that I have heard, I cannot believe this has not reached recall status.
The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. While driving approximately 20 mph, the rear wheels seized and the brake and abs warning lights illuminated. As a result, the tail pipe disengaged from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the rear axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v796000 (power train); however, the part needed to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,240.

It got cold on this morning went out to start truck. Started fine like always drove my wife to work soon as I put truck in reverse my abs light traction control and emergency brake lights all flashed on at once. Took into get brakes checked they said they were fine. Also have four exhaust manifold bolts broke flush off on the block kinda been reading a lot of people have too is this going to be a recall.
Exhaust manifolds are leaking gas. I can smell exhaust gas inside the truck causing drowsiness on long rides.
Exhaust manifold bolts are rusting and breaking off leaving exhaust leak at the engine. This is known issue and very common on 5. 7 liter hemi engines. Dodge Ram 1500 problem. Upon start-up of the vehicle a ticking noise is heard (possible exhaust leak). The sound becomes less noticeable as the engine warms to normal operating temperature. Similar cases have been seen in 2009 models caused by broken or loose exhaust manifold bolts for cylinders 7 and 8. Contacted the dealer but they stated my vehicle was not affected by that recall even though it is the same year and engine type.
