Death wobbles: I have replaced upper and lower ball joints with problem solvers. Replaced the tie rods and ends. Replaced the stabilizer shock, replaced the track bar rubber bushings, replaced the otter universal joints on the aam 9. 50 14 bolt electric hubs. New shocks all around. Drove to salt lake city and the death wobbles came back have to pull off the hwy and come to a stop while it is shaking the truck apart. 15 times from idaho. . This is a major safety problem the steering box has problems and it is not listed under any recalls. New alignment also. New transmission, at 163,000 boiled over onto the turbo, the dipstick never fit in the tube and fluid caused the truck to catch fire. 3 years ago.

2 Universal Joint problem of the 2005 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 02/26/2017

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving approximately 80 mph, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. Within seconds, a loud noise was heard under the vehicle. The driver was able to coast onto the road shoulder and found unknown parts had separated from the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case, constant velocity joint, universal joint, fuel lines, and brakes lines failed. The vehicle was not repaired. Tl-the contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. The contact received NHTSA campaign numbers:05v462000, 09e001000, 13v528000, 14v817000 (air bags,steering,power train) however, the parts for repair was unavailable. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the steering wheel began to vibrate and a loud grinding noise was heard from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the front drivers and passengers side universal joint front axles were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was notified that they were on a list for recall repairs. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for recall repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Mm.

Fracture of the pitman arn at the steering box/ had to replace entire steering box/ fracture was found while undergoing wheel aligment/ was only a matter of time before it would have failed. Replace water pump/ 120000 replace rear universal joint for bad bearings/ 121,000 entire engine fan with pulley sheared off while on a trip/ 118000 replaced entire wiper mechanism due to complete failure/122000 poorly engineered vehicle/ wouldn't buy another Dodge lots of safety issues.

5 Universal Joint problem of the 2008 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 03/20/2009

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving 35 mph, the driver's side u-joint axle failed, which jammed the steering wheel to the right. The contact crashed the vehicle into a telephone pole. He was not injured and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop. The dealer advised him to call the Dodge manufacturer and his insurance company. The manufacturer sent an investigator to inspect the vehicle. The contact then received a letter stating that the failure occurred after he struck the telephone pole; however, he stated that the axle failed prior to the crash. The vehicle is currently being repaired. The failure mileage was 26,177. The consumer believed the u-joints failed due to lack of grease. When the u-joint broke, the axles binded with each other and the axle jammed the spindle making it difficult to steer the vehicle back to the center. . The consumer complained of a noise days prior to the accident, but was told nothing was wrong. Updated 04/22/09. Updated 05/04/09 the consumer stated he heard a banging noise in the left front of the vehicle. Right after the noise, the steering went to the right and he jumped the curb. After the accident, the consumer noticed 2 parts from his vehicle were on the street. The parts were 2 ears off the left front axle u-joint. One was male and the other was a female and they were stuck together. Updated 05/04/09.

6 Universal Joint problem of the 2004 Dodge Ram 2500

Failure Date: 10/07/2007

The contact owns a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500. While driving 35 mph, the contact heard a noise coming from the front driver side of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle apart and stated that the cause of the failure was the front driver side wheel hub. Approximately one month later, the noise recurred when the vehicle came to a stop. The contact removed the front passenger side wheel and found that the universal joint failed. The failure mileage was 85,000 and current mileage was 91,000.

Failure Date: 12/06/2004

2003 Dodge Ram 2500 in December 2004 I had to have all 3 ball joints replaced the truck only had 42262 miles on it. Then just last month in October I had to replace another ball joint as it was going out already. From what I have read this is not normal wear on a vechicle.

Shudder when starting out, 50% of the time. Problem has increased over the past year. There is a service bullitin for an exact situation on a split drive shaft. Dealer could not fix. Factory rep. Said it was a weight districbution that wold cause the tire to spin. This is not correct. I tow a trailer with 800 lbs. Of tounge weight, the problem is enhanced with weight. Problem is increasing. Worried of eventual total failure to move or extreme hesitation causing accident at intersection.
