Car Stall Problems of Ford Contour - part 1

The contact owns a 1998 Ford Contour. The contact stated that the engine wiring harness insulation failed and caused the wires to touch, which could possibly result in a fire. The dealer stated that the vehicle was not covered under warranty any longer. The contact discovered a recall for the 1995-1997 models for the exact same defect. As a result, the vehicle stalled and had to be towed to his residence. The vehicle jerked and made a beeping noise prior to the failure. The purchase date was unknown. The failure mileage was 94,600 and current mileage was 94,782.

Vehicle stalled while driving. Driver tried restarted the vehicle five minutes later. Took it to dealer, and mechanic determined that the problem could not be duplicated.

Question: if they know that about the car in the first place, why charge the customer for a pointless diagnostic? headlights still out of alignment after having been "adjusted" by dealer in January 2005.

Vehicle was idling too high. When the vehicle idled too high it also shut off. Consumer took vehicle to several different dealers, and vehicle was diagnosed 2-3 times. Each dealer indicated that it was the cam sensor. Consumer had a new cam sensor installed on 04/19/2004, and it was still doing the same thing, vehicle continued to idle high and then stall.

Consumer stated that while driving and with no warning the vehicle stalled, which made it difficult to control. Dealer notified. The failure was intermittent. Several attempts were made to repair the problem. It occurred a lot at idle or while coasting, especially when turning corners. Dealer confused.

Stalls out if you take your foot off the gas, surges between 1-4 rmps, engine light is on, all started after I had the heater blower switch replaced.

My Contour continues to stall while driving. I was first told by dealer service that it was the fuel pump, then the fuel filter, and finally that it was a sensor. This vehicle seems to stall when my gas gauge is close to a quarter tank of gas. I just got this car out of the service dept. 4 days ago, now it is still stalling and the engine light is on.

Repeated stalling, missing & loss of power appears mostly when it's very hot out & car has been driven a lot. Rough idle even under no load in neutral. No indicators light except during stall which happens even with clutch depressed. Missing is most noticeable during acceleration or steady highway speeds, even with cruise on. Car sometimes shakes at high speed (70mph). Multiple alignments never show same results. Dealer can never duplicate, says I am dumping clutch to stall & loss of power is due to a/c. I was in transit to replace my braking system for the second time in 6 months when my transmission failed. My 'check engine' light stays on and the car now stalls when in a stopped position at a traffic light. These issues, amongst a list of other major failures has occurred in the last 2. 5 years of ownership of this lemon ( complete a/c system has been replaced, complete fuel system has been replaced, window motor has been replaced, etc. ). Neither the Ford manufacturer or dealerships have responded, agreed or offered any investigation, correction, compensation or assistance in response to these previously written and verbal matters, and legal action will commence.
