Driving in traffic. Hissing sound from brake pedal, stiff brake pedal, delayed stopping after pushing brake pedal, I almost ran into car ahead of me, unpredictable how long it takes to stop, stalled at red light, I have to push as hard as I can to stop vehicle. Bad brake booster. I can barely drive this. It’s not safe.
My 2013 Ford Edge limited is experiencing the failed brake power booster symptoms. Hard to push pedal and sinking. VIN is not linked to 13n02 per Ford support. However the model year is within the range of years, build at the oakville plant, has the issue, but not covered.

I’ll cut right to the facts. Last weekend my wife and I were driving on the highway in our 2013 Ford Edge [xxx] ed on the brake pedal as we neared our exit – we were not slowing down - we found ourselves with what seemed to be no brakes again I repeat no brakes. Immediately sheer panic hit me as I pushed the brake pedal to the floor and held it there. Luckily we were finally able to stop without creating an accident. I’ll fast forward to cause of the problem – a faulty brake booster – which was identified by Ford in their customer satisfaction program13n02 – issued November 27,2013. Our vehicle was not was not included so we were not notified of any potential issue. As a result I not only got the scare of my life (and that’s an understatement) but on top of that a $1,100. 00 bill to replace a part that was clearly known to be defective. And you put mine and my wife’s life at risk, never mind any innocent people we may have hurt as a result of an accident. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

I currently have an few issues to report. When I press on the brakes, they make an air whistling sound and there’s nothing noticeably wrong with them. I’m also having problems with electrical on my screen and it won’t always connect with my phone and it also delays on the screen when it’s powering on or off. My tires have been leaking air since I purchased my vehicleand when I took it in, they said Ford mechanics said they sealed the valves but right when I got it back, it gave me a warning that I had low air pressure in my tires once again and my vehicle tires appeared like they were still low on air. I constantly have to fill them with air when I drive it. Every day they leak. But my biggest concern is the electrical and the brakes. I don’t know the exact date on when the electrical started acting up. I’m also curious if there’s been a recall on anything to do with the defrost on the windows because my windows do not defrost very well in our cold climate. I’m also wondering about the headlights. They seem like they’re not bright enough we’re just strange because they’re clear and there’s nothing obstructing them that’s noticeable. For safety I believe they should be a lot brighter than they are. I have not been in any car accidents and no one hit my vehicle.
I constantly heara hissing sound when breaking. Sometimes my break pedal goes all the way down inorder to stop. My abs light comes on. I have had it repaired once. Its happened again. I'm being told it's the break booster and needs repair once again. This is a severe safety issue. It's a constant issue with hydraulic or breaks, including break booster.
Brake pedal very hard, lots of pressure to stop vehicle. Has been inspected by a certified mechanic. To be checked out by local Ford dealership oct. 8,2024 no warning.
My vehicle's brakes went completely soft, brake pedal to the floor. This is because of the "customer relationship program", aka the recall that apparently is not a recall. The issue is the "brake booster", where there is a small tear in the diaphragm responsible for braking. There was no warning and the problem has been reproduced multiple times according to online forums.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to a dealer where the hydro booster was replaced; however, the failure returned immediately after repair. The vehicle was then repaired with a different hydro booster by the same dealer; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that both the hcu (hydraulic control unit) and brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the hcu and brake master cylinder were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic however, the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN for the failure. The contact was provided a case number. The failure mileage was 129,211.

Vehicles break booster and master cylinder has an issue and the breaks are stiff with a whistle blowing sound when pressed. And causing a low engine oil sign to pop up and stall out when stopped. This happened while pulling out of a parking lot. The problem was confirmed by a pep boys auto repair shop in federal way, washington state. No, insurance has not looked over it, and no I haven't taken it to be inspected by a Ford dealership/manufacturer.

Brake boost issue with my 2013 Ford Edge sport. When attempting to brake, there is very little stopping resistance. Even at slow speeds, it takes a dangerous amount of time and distance to bring the vehicle to a stop. While braking, a hissing noise can be heard from the brake pedal area, and the brake pedal presses easily to the floor with minimal resistance. Upon researching the issue, I discovered that this is a very common problem with this vehicle. A certified mechanic diagnosed the issue and stated that this is a known problem and may be covered under Ford's customer satisfaction program 13n02. While this is a known and common issue that is covered under warranty when the vehicle is under 10 years from warranty purchase date or under 150,000 miles, the Ford dealership is fighting me on this and is refusing to assist in correcting this safety issue. If a vehicle has already exceeded the time or mileage limit and is part of the incremental launch population, this coverage will last through November 30, 2025. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners. Brakes began failing around July/August of 2024. Due to financial hardship, I cannot afford this repair on my own. Driving this vehicle in this condition is extremely dangerous for myself and other drivers on the road. I've had to veer off of the road or into other lanes in order to avoid a collision with vehicles in front of me because it takes an extremely unreasonable distance to stop the vehicle with a bad brake booster many times already; it's only a matter of time before I encounter an unavoidable collision due to bad brakes. Please advise on who I can talk to about getting this issue fixed under warranty, or at no/reduced cost.
2013 Ford Edge limited- the vehicle experienced a loss of brake pressure, resulting in the brake pedal sinking to the floorboard before the vehicle finally came to a complete stop nearly resulting in a collision. Vehicle was taken to midas and the independent mechanic notified the owner that the brake master cylinder was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced immediately.
I have a 2013 Ford Edge. When I press on the brake sometimes it goes down smoothly and I hear a hissing noise and then the next time I brake it is stiff, hard as a rock and I can barely get the vehicle to stop. This is dangerous! a major safety issue but for some unknown reason my 2013 is not showing a recall. I heard that the brake boosters could be the problem. Also my check engine light came on when the stiff brake started happening. I just bout the SUV 2 weeks ago. Ford will not help me as no recall is issued.

The contact's fiancé who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the failure as a rear brake line leak. The contact stated that the brake fluid was pouring out of the rear brake line when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact was informed that the rear brake line needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the parts needed to complete the repair had been discontinued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 236,102.
I was driving home on the freeway from work and there was an accident where traffic had to slow down. As I slowed down by placing my foot on the brakes the tires skid and the abs light came on as well as the brake service light and service advance trac came on. The brakes locked and I avoided an accident by 2 inches. This is hazardous and dangerous.
Vehicle has stiff pedal all the way floor and abs kick in lower side of pedal only applyied brake to slow down how ever vehicle yang to left because it was braking un evenly faliure to abs kick in, vehicle felt no brake at all. Abs causing only to presure left not, some times you have pedal sundenly pedal is out, I do know they have extented warranty for the brake, it is rediculas to loos pedal by rondamly driving, Ford should warrantied alll Ford Edge brake problems, this is not acceptable causeing internal mechanical failer. They must recall and walk away from this article. It horrible when you guy not responded for recall, since they have brake problems.
If you hit a pot hole or a bump on the road the brake pedal makes a weird sound and then the brake goes all the way to the floorboard when trying to apply brakes and doesn't come to an immediate stop. The wrench light has come on or the symbol that has the car and wavy lines for traction control will turn on all of a sudden and then the car shuts off in the middle of the road while driving putting my life in danger. It also doesn't accelerate all of a sudden and loses power while driving putting my life in danger. When you put the car in park the car still jerks forward even after the car is in park and off. It also makes a clicking sound as if it goes into gear after you have turned the car off and park has been engaged. The headlights keep shutting off while driving or dimming in their own. The motormount screws came undone and I had to get it repaired. The power steering keeps losing the fluid and makes a loud grinding noise especially during cold weather. Makes a loud whistle sound like a turbo jet engine when it's cold and you start driving. The rear driverside door latch keeps making the car alert that the door is open when it is not. The recall only shows door latch for a different door and dealership won't repair with recall notice because the notice doesn't say all door latches and is specific to a different door. The car is unsafe to drive but it's the only car I have and the last time I took it to get repairs they kept it for a month and my it off pocket costs were close to $1600 dollars which put me in a financial strain. I can not afford to be without my car for that long again and pay for things that shouldn't be falling apart and putting my child's and my life in danger.
Brake booster failed. Ran a stop sign. No brakes!.
The brake booster has failed. When I depress the brake pedal it pushes almost to the floor before any braking occurs. The car is still able to brake, but this slight delay can pose a risk to safety if the car needs to be slowed quickly. The problem occurs constantly during driving. I have brought the care to the dealership to see if it was covered under the 13n02 customer satisfaction program, but they said my VIN indicated it was not. This problem is described exactly the same in the 13n02 recall and I believe my vehicle should be covered. There have been no warning lamps or signals for this issue.

Tire pressure sensor fault (tps) hissing sound when applying brakes. Brake pedal is hard and very difficult to bring the vehicle to a complete stop. When parked or at a traffic light you constantly hear air being released and vehicle will boggle for a few seconds then stall on me. When I bring the vehicle to a stop I have to put it in park, and pump my brakes to stop the air from leaking to prevent it from stalling on me. Over all the vehicle is a huge safety concern and a hazard to have on the road.

My brakes are hard to press sometimes hard to stop. Jerky and then hard then soft. I read brake booster master cylinder or hcu all Ford's mistakes. Still no recall. I'm outside of the extended warranty because I just bought this 3 months ago and it's over 10 years old only 115000 miles on it. If I die I'm having my family sue Ford. Codes p2 195 and p2 197 are now showing after a week and a half of this problem. Taking it to Ford Tuesday. Calling customer service Monday. Shame on Ford.
There is a known issue with the brake booster on my vehicle that is covered by a warranty porgram. Why hasnt the NHTSA required a recall on a key critical safety device that has been clearly identitifed?.
Brakes hard to push and has trouble stopping vehicle brake booster was replaced but still isn’t working.
About a week ago my brakes on my 2013 Ford Edge limited became for hard to press. The pedal became stiff. I almost was unable to stop even though I was going extremely slow approaching an intersection that was very busy. I have looked up recalls on this issue with the same description and realize Ford had issued a recall on 2013 Ford Edges however only certain VIN numbers. However, surfing through multiple posts and forums I am finding 100's so far of people that are angry because Ford refused to own up to the fact the all these 2013 Ford Edges are having issues with the brake booster which is a major safety issue and should have no cut off period due to the importance of this defective part! I finally wad able to bring my car to the dealer due to the other mechanic's I brought it to are all getting an invalid read when they do the diagnostic test on the car. Now Ford dealership jarret Ford in dade city said it will be $1389. 00 to fix my brake booster. This is highway robbery.
I have experienced what feels like brakes going out numerous times. I will go to stop and it feels like I have no brakes. The pedal goes clear to the floor but I can end up stopping. This has not been diagnosed due to it does it occasionally then the brakes start working good again.
