36 Body problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/06/2023

2012 Ford Edge -the passenger door will shut but the alarm that came with the car says that the door is not shut. The alarm will not work when the car detects the door is not shut, so the interior lights will not turn off. Will this affect my battery? when I drive with the sensor on the dashboard states the door is not closed and the interior light will not shut off which becomes a distraction at night. When driving the car, the locks will not work because the dashboard senses the door is not closed. This is a family car with a child still in a car seat. Anyone can jump in my car? there a lot of blogs I found with the same situation, so Ford must know that the problem exists. The door has not been damaged. This is not part of wear and tear because a door is something that need to open and close. The situation is getting worse and worse that when im driving the dashboard announces the closed door is now open and unlocks all my doors and turns on my interior lights on.

37 Body problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/26/2023

My 2019 Ford Edge was sitting in my garage over the weekend at the end of March. I got in on Monday morning to find my sunroof had shattered. Upon further examination, nothing fell in or on the car. The sunroof had actually blown upwards.

38 Body problem of the 2022 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/18/2023

I have had the liftgate lower unexpectedly in two separate incidents causing injury. The first happed two weeks ago at a filling station. I was exited the passenger side and walked behind the car to reach the pump. When I got to the pump I turned around to go back to get my wallet. At that moment I struck the liftgate and it cut my head because it had opened without warning and I turned directly into it. (I am 6'2" tall). The second time was today. I was putting groceries into the car and I turned to get more groceries from the cart. As I turned back towards the car, the liftgate was lowering without warning and clobbered me in the head again. I have a picture from today. While these are the only two occurrences that I was injured, there have been others where I was able to quickly catch the tailgate as it tried to close while I was standing there. In all of these cases I do not have my foot near the sensor. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow to make an appointment. This is very dangerous particularly for taller people. When the gate closes there is a faint sound coming from the front of the car but it is hard to hear when you are in a parking lot. This has been going on since purchase, but this month is the first time I was injured.

39 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/08/2023

The panoramic vista glass sunroof on my 2015 Ford Edge shows many cracks along the front Edge of the glass for no apparent reasons. This was discovered recently on a calm cloudy day. I've attached some pictures at different angles. This roof has the potential to explode if going on a high speed. I'm surprise to discovered that their is no recall issue for this model, but on other Ford models with panoramic glass sunroof. Please investigate and add this make/model to Ford panoramic vista glass sunfoof recall list. No vehicle should have a roof top crack for no apparent reason. I'm afraid to even open the soft divider separating the car riders from the glass sunroof.

41 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/11/2022

On 12-11-22 I had a flat tire. I went to put on the spare, following directions step by step, and placing the jack where the arrow points in the correct spot. I jacked my car up and once the tire was off, the car fell onto the ground bending the jack. I then realized the area the jack sits, along with other areas under the car are badly corroded. It's available for inspection, yes. This could have badly hurt me or my 4 year old who was near me had the jack flew out or my hand had been in the area. I am concerned if there are any other framework issues since the car landed hard on concrete. I also dont know if there is other hidden corrosion I cannot see that could pose saftey issues while driving.

43 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/13/2022

While driving the car on the highway, the upper panoramic roof glass violently exploded and sent shattered glass to the following cars. The sudden explosion diverted my attention to the red which would have caused a serious accident.

44 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/10/2022

Car's brakes went to floor when engaged. Driver pumped them several times to slow car. Engine light came on; took car to mechanic and brake repair was made, but engine light kept appearing. Then the car would not crank and was towed to the mechanic and the battery was replaced. Finally, the car's body/wheels appeared to be shaking when driving and the engine light appeared again. Car was taken to a Ford repair center where service department informed us that the engine needed to be replaced due to coolant leak. The car is driveable but unsafe and requires expensive engine replacement. After doing research, this appears to be a well known problem with the Ford Edge and consumers aren't receiving adequate information about the extent of the problem or safety concerns. A recall needs to be issued for this defect and Ford needs to take responsibility to fix the problem.

45 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/16/2022

When closing my front passenger door, the door ajar light remains on. With this, my doors will not lock creating a potentially dangerous situation where a person could open my doors if I’m driving. I either have to repeatedly slam the door until it closes or just leave it as is, but as stated my doors will not lock. I do not want the risk of having someone opening my doors while I’m inside, have young children open the door while in drive, or have someone break into my car.

46 Body problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/22/2022

My 2013 Ford Edge has the sunroof rails broken . I think because they are made out of plastic. So the only thing holding the front of the glass is some wires to prevent it from the glass from catching air and catching air borne which will shatter the glass. Im really scare to take the freeway.

47 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/10/2022

The car has multiple rust locations on the car and peeling at an alarming rate. Vehicle is available for inspection. In reviewing the origin report; it appears the car was built from scrape and unknown to purchaser. Door may fall off! inspected by liberty Ford. Sold at well above lot price. No recall yet. Door may fall off etc.

48 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/18/2021

Sunroof cracked for no reason.

49 Body problem of the 2018 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/04/2021

The power lift gate on the back of my vehicle will unexpectedly shut or quickly drop closed. On multiple occasions I was removing items from the back of my vehicle when this happened, and I was struck by the lift gate causing injury. The first time I brought this to the dealer’s attention was July 2019. They were unable to replicate the problem. This week, while once again removing items from the back of my car, the lift gate shut suddenly, this time crushing and cutting my wrist. My wrist immediately bruised and began bleeding. This was incredibly painful and days later is still not healed. This is a problem that is well documented by other Ford Edge owners in online forums, but that the dealer has still failed to acknowledge.

50 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/08/2021

While driving on August 8, 2021, I heard a pop on my 2071 Ford Edge panoramic tempered glass roof. I subsequently found a crack/break when I was cleaning the glass roof. I notified the Ford dealership (fd) (lithia Ford of fresno California) on my next oil change on December 15, 2021. Based on my ocular inspection the crack/break appears to emanate from a bubble in the tempered glass roof as opposed to fd’s opinion that object impact caused the cracking. In my online research, cracking, popping and even exploding without impact have happened to tempered automotive glasses have occurred across different vehicle models across different vehicle manufacturers. The presence of bubbles in the manufacturing process have caused weak points across the surfaces of many tempered automotive glass resulting in cracking, breaking, popping and exploding. When this occurs, vehicle occupants as well as other moving motorists could be injured. The tempered automotive glass that exhibit bubbles should not be installed by vehicle manufacturers like Ford. Intensified quality control of tempered automotive glass should be done by vehicle manufacturers before these are installed. Tempered panoramic glass roofing ( sunroof & moonroof) found with bubbles that are installed in all vehicles should be inspected and replaced if necessary to prevent injury to vehicle occupants and moving motorists.

51 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/28/2021

2017 Ford Edge rear panoramic glass randomly cracked while parked. Took to dealer they said it was stress cracks that it would cost approximately $1800. 00 to replace. Car has 37,000 miles and is out of warranty. Poor quality and craftsmanship should not be on the consumer's nor should car insurance have to pay for these repairs.

52 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/02/2021

Driver's door shows door ajar alarm. Even though doors are all securely closed. Doors will not lock while driving the car. Real safety issue for any children in the vehicle.

53 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/01/2021

The front passenger side of the car started to show bubbling/ peeling paint several months ago. Made several contacts with dealership to see if they could tell me why! no help or assistance from them to find out if my car was damaged and/or repaired prior to my purchase. No response or answer from them. In talking with a Ford body repair person; he seems to feel the car door was repaired and/or partially repaired. And now rusting again! however, I have also been told that several other Fords have had rusting issued for sometime now!! possibly a recall issue! I would like an answer from Ford on why this happening to Ford cars. And, mine especially!!! something is not right in Dodge when everyone at the original dealership did not respond. *this is not an accident issue. It's about a quality of car rusting away!.

54 Body problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/06/2021

Interior driver's side door latch is covered with a metal-like substance which appears to be chrome. The metal has cracked/split along the top of the latch, where the driver places fingers to open the door. The owner/driver of this vehicle was injured by this latch on 6/6/2021, and suffered a finger laceration which required bandaging but not stitches.

55 Body problem of the 2018 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/01/2021

Lift gate motorized lift cylinder failed to hold the lift gate open while accessing the compartment. Lift gate reversed and you could not stop it by pushing up on the lift gate. Made an appointment at the Ford dealership and they checked the issue out and they confirmed the problem was with the lift cylinder no warning lamps or messages appeared when this happens. Lift gate would not reverse while coming down when up hand pressure was being applied. Serious issue for trapping a person under the lift gate.

56 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/26/2021

On multiple occasions over the past year of owning the vehicle the liftgate has not functioned properly. In one instance it failed to open with any attempt (remote, dash button, liftgate button) - we could not get it to open and had to leave it at dealership to be repaired. Since then, there have been 3-4 other times when it won't close and latch properly despite there being nothing in the way. It will lower, start to latch, then release itself and reopen. On those occasions, it can take up to 20 attempts to get it to close, latch, and remain closed. I have taken it twice to be looked at, but the dealership can't get it to replicate the malfunction and therefore have been unable to repair it.

57 Body problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/21/2021

We are having an ongoing issue with the tailgate malfunctioning of our 2017 Ford Edge titanium. The tailgate will suddenly will not open for no reason after pushing the remote as well as the button on the hatch . We have tried resetting it on the menu and it will work for a while and then won’t open again. I have read that other owners have reported that it closes on their heads while putting stuff in the back. This is a safety issue because we can’t get to the spare tire if need be because of a design flaw that allows no manual operation of this tailgate!! I can’t believe this issue has not been addressed by Ford or the ntsb. Very frustrated.

58 Body problem of the 2018 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/16/2021

1. The lift gate has come down on top of me several times. I've had bruising on my legs and a headache because of the gate hitting me in the head. 2. There is an anti-freeze odor inside the car intermittently. The dealer tested for leaks but it was inconclusive. I'm taking it back to be tested again this week. 3. On two occasions, the navigation system has given verbal directions different than what it shows on the screen. The first time I thought I heard wrong. But the second time it happened I knew it wasn't my hearing. I have an appointment with the dealer to address this.

59 Body problem of the 2019 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/02/2021

Vehicle had rear lift gate issues July 2020. The lift gate became totally inop at that time and spent a lengthy time in the shop. This issue has been occurring intermittently since then. I went shopping this morning and lift gate worked ok when loading but became inop when I got home and I had to fold the rear seats down for access to grocery bags. The odd thing is the system starts to work normally after sitting for a short time. I'm concerned that if this is an on going issue with these vehicles what if in an emergency the lift gate became inop?.

60 Body problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/30/2021

This complaint is regarding the vista panorama sunroof. While trying to close my sunroof, I started hearing loud popping sounds. I had to take my car to a mechanic to get the sunroof closed. I was later informed that the clips on the guides were both broken. Needless to say, Ford is manufacturing cheap tracks that are held together with plastic clips designed to move very heavy glass back and forth. This is untenable. I have researched numerous other customers with the same issue with very little affordable resolutions.

61 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/25/2021

I was driving in stop and go traffic for several minutes. When we would move forward it would only be for 1 car length. I stopped, and when the engine turned back on from the auto start/stop, the car lurched forward and hit the car in front of me. I still had my foot on the break. At first I thought I had been hit from behind, because I had my foot on the break. I have seen 2 other complaints similar to mine, however, they did not result in an accident.

62 Body problem of the 2020 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/31/2021

The back hatch door was open to put shopping items away, and my daughter turned around to put a cart away in a parking lot. All of a sudden another vehicle was coming and she backed up with a cart in front of her, and the hatch door hit her between the shoulders. It hit her, it stopped and then moved upwards. Something like this also happened to me with another Ford that I traded in last year for this 2020 Ford. The vehicle was in for a camera repair prior to this, so do not know if a sensor is out or not functioning correctly; and the rear end of the vehicle makes a creaking noise since they replaced the rear view camera. Do not know if this has anything do do with the hatch back open and close function. The vehicle was in park in a spot in a shopping center on a two way parking lot.

63 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/23/2021

My passenger door ajar would come on and I know my door is shut. It's starting to get bad now. The other day when I was driving on a city road my driver side door ajar light came on and then the door popped open a little to where I can hear the outside air coming in. I was driving for 10 minutes before this happen. This has to be fix soon.

64 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 01/23/2021

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving 10mph the vehicle front driver side wheel detached from the body which resulted in the contact losing control of the vehicle and crashing it into parked cars; no air bags deployed. The contact sustained neck, and back pain. A police report was filed. The contact stated no warning lights was illuminated . The vehicle was towed to insurance lot where it was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of failure and is awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.

65 Body problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/16/2020

Door ajar light continually went on and off while in motion whether on a highway or city street. Noticed it also went on during left turns. Door locks on all doors would click on and off at stops. I wasn't sure that doors were locked with my children in the car. Internal lights would also go on an off. Common issue on the internet with Ford Edges. It's all over and for years. I have young children and had to get the issue fixed at a cost of $542. 83. I believe Ford needs to pay for this safety issue. The part number to replace was the latch part number 8t4z 78264a27 a. So a new door latch needed to be installed along with the repair of a wire in the door harness near the lh side of the door speaker. I am the original owner of this vehicle.

66 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/10/2020

The area under spare tire has puddle of water after rain.

67 Body problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 11/01/2020

My vehicle exhibits illuminated dome lights and door ajar messages when doors are fully closed. I get error messages intermittently while driving of door ajar notification and the interior lights will come on unexpectedly while driving. The interior dome lights also stay illuminated even when I have turned the car off and locked the doors, draining battery. I have received notification of Ford's voluntary extension of door latch warranty through July 2020. This is a known defect. My car began exhibiting the defect in November 2020. It is a safety issue as I am alarmed and cannot see when driving at night and the interior lights suddenly pop on. I also fear my child will open the door while driving as the "lock" feature is unreliable due to the defect. In addition, it is unsafe for me to park my vehicle at night not knowing if I will have a drained battery later because there is no way to shut off the interior lights.

68 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/24/2020

While driving this vehicle, the rear window shattered. I pulled over to check the damage and concluded nothing hit the window to cause this damage. While investigating (online reports and speaking with repair specialists) the cause of this damage may be related to the heating strips (for defrosting) in the window.

69 Body problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/21/2020

Movable sunroof was discovered with crack running fore and aft. No apparent impact damage and vehicle is kept in garage when not in operation.

70 Body problem of the 2011 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 10/21/2020

I (skyla burks) took my Ford Edge to the dealership to have my recalls repaired! my brake booster being the main one I'm concerned with because that's the biggest safety problem! the dealership told me because my car was over a certain amount of miles that the recall expired! how can the brake booster recall ever expire? especially when that's the means of being able to stop! my brakes are so bad that I don't like putting my children in the car! I don't feel safe at all driving it & they tell me they can't repair due to the mileage! well the mileage don't have anything to with my brakes going out & causing me to wreck & get injured or worse! this is a huge safety problem for not just myself! so how can I get this fixed?.
