1 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 02/07/2022

My 2017 Ford Edge with a 4 cylinder 2. 0 ecoboost engine and 81,000 miles needs a new engine, as per my local Ford dealer. I recently had coolant leak into the engine through the cylinders. All preventative maintenance work, including oil changes, have been done when required. Daytona beach automall dealership tells me the vehicle is out of warranty and totally my responsibility to replace the engine at a cost of approximately $5500. This problem exists with Ford ecoboost engines all over the country and Ford has been aware of it for years. No recalls have been made since many of these problems occur after the warranty has expired and then it's the customers responsibility. Ford motor company is not taking responsibility for their product when they have known for some time that they have problems with the ecoboost engine.

2 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/13/2021

On my 2017 Ford Edge the epb motor and abs module went out at 62,000 miles resulting in brakes dragging and very difficult to release the parking brake with the danger of locking up while driving. Also the engine is a 4 cylinder 2 liter ecoboost and has been leaking coolant into cylinder number 2 causing coolant level to drop and the engine misfiring eventually leading to a engine warning light. Ford has issued a service bulletin to look out for these problems. The only remedy is engine replacement at a cost of at least $8,000. 00. Ford has been aware of these problems for quite a long time but has not issued a recall and will not help with the cost of repair. I believe my engine had this problem before the powertrain warranty expired at 60,000 miles. I am not a mechanic and did not notice the problem until my check engine light came on at approx. 61,500 miles. I think Ford should bear the responsibility of engine replacement as the engine has failed before 62,000 miles. A car engine should last much longer. After doing research I have seen complaints of dozens of similar cases of the ecoboost engines having the same problem and beleive it has a design flaw.

6 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/26/2019

As I was coming to a stoplight in the city at about 25-30 mph, my brakes engaged for about a quarter of a second, then gave out almost entirely. I had to pump brakes and hit the emergency brakes to stop from hitting a stopped at an intersection. Thankfully I brake early and stopped short a few inches. 9 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2013 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

I have a 2013 Ford Edge, brakes go to floor but not all the time. 1 st time I had booster done under recall Dec 2016 mileage 59080, 2 nd oct 2017 brakes did it again mileage 66982, put another booster in under recall. Dec 2017 mileage 68078 happen again, this time the dealer check out the hold brake system (the slide, calibers etc. ) everything ok. June 2018 happen again mileage 71926 . I did have an auto repairman try and it went to the floor on him as well. I spoke with Ford about it Ford gave me a case # cas- 15014600 said I needed a dealer to check it again. I went to prime Ford in auburn MA (the same as the other 3 times), they checked it and could not find and thing wrong, they asked me to leave it for a couple of days which I did and they still could not find a problem. I know it is not the master brake cylinder because when they changed the booster they would have notice leakage. Prime has gone over the whole brake system made sure everything works ok. My problem is you don't know when this will happen, I looked on car problem site and saw where the Ford Edge has had over 300 brake problems and some of the those had the same problem. But what happens now if you need to stop real quick and it happens? car was moving around 30 - 35m/h when you go to stop.

10 Brake Drum Wheel Cylinder problem of the 2010 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/15/2017

On 12/11/17 my brakes were making a air sound when I touched peddle. At 47,000 miles I assumed it was time to replace. On 12/15 I had brakes replaced, but when I got the car back it still had the air sound. The brakes work but sometimes the peddle goes all the way down and catches at last minute. Now I'm told Ford Edge has a problem with brake boosters and main cylinder. There hasn't been a recall yet, but I am sure people don't notify anyone about this problem. The garage just sent me on my way knowing the problem and also knowing the brakes could fail! I will be taking my vehicle to an authorized Ford dealer to see what they can do. This is just to inform you of the serious problem which could cause accidents or even deaths.
