12 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2018 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/10/2021

There is an engine defect causing coolant to leak into cylinders on my 2018 Ford Edge titanium ecoboost 2. 0l turbocharged engine. This is a known safety problem and there have been many lawsuits regarding this issue. I have contacted Ford corporate and they are only recommending to replace the long block instead of replacing the entire engine. There is potential to have damage to the cylinder heads, piston rods and other crucial parts in the engine which make me feel very unsafe about its future reliability when "only replacing the long block" which really seems like putting a band aid on the problem. They are not willing to spend the time or money to ensure that the vehicle is safe and the problem is properly diagnosed and resolved. This is alarming as it seems they are trying to cut corners in order to save money. Many people have had this problem and I heard from my private mechanic that they do so many 2. 0l ecoboost a week at the dealership because of this exact same problem. I think the nthsa should look into an engine recall. I also have had an open recall on the front brake lines needing to be replaced due to possible failure for over 1 year and Ford has dragged their feet. Please look into my specific case if possible. 15 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/22/2021

I have had the front brake line rupture in my 2016 Ford Edge, had it replaced out of pocket even though it's a recall. I called Ford then to tell them they told me to take it to Ford to get it fixed the first of the year and they will reimburse me for what I had fixed; then they had me sit their and hour for them to tell me that they didn't have the part and they will call me when they get. Never got a call back and never got reimbursed. Then it ruptured again tried to get it fixed they told that I have to wait for the parts to come in after I got told they would have the parts the first of the year. They refuse to help me and refuse to get me a loaner. So I'm stuck with a car with no brakes that almost caused me to crash twice now.

16 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/10/2021

Vehicle in motion on city street brake fluid warning system went off. Pulled over and found out brake fluid reservoir was completely dry. Took it to heritage Ford in corydon, in as there is a recall for this from sept. 2020 but no parts available. 17 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/10/2021

Front brake hose leak. Left home and it was fine, a few miles later I noticed the brake pedal needing more pressure and going farther down each time I stopped. Car was slow to stop. I drove to an autozone and they checked and saw I had no brake fluid. I knew there was a recall and even asked about it a week prior at the dealership during a 60k mile service. I got it to the dealership and they replaced the hose with the same defective part - I got 60k miles out of the first one so I'm not too worried but they only changed the hose on one side so I assume it's likely to happen again on the other side? did not charge me and like the others, I'll keep waiting for the recall to issue a fix.

18 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 04/09/2021

After shopping, I applied the brake to start the car. I heard a pop and the pedal went to the floor. The front right brake hose ruptured. I took the vehicle to the dealer who stated the recalled part is in "advance notice" and a fix isn't available. I was charged for the fix (with a promise of refund), but only one side was fixed and I presume the old part, which was recalled, was used to "fix" the car. After calling Ford, they had no update. Their recall notice (20s42) stated they expected the fix to be ready q4 2020, but it is not April 2021 with no update.

22 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

I had my brake booster replaced about a year ago. About 4 months ago my brake pedal was going to the floor. Took it to the Ford dealer but the brakes were ok again. They said they could diagnose the problem. 2 weeks ago same problem pedal going the floor, now spongy pedal. Had a new brake hose put on and the brakes bled and it is still spongy. Trouble stopping very dangerous!!.

23 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 12/12/2020

On 12/12/2020 I was driving approx. 25 mph when my low brake fluid warning light came on. I immediately braked to get off the main road. My car did not slow down enough as I was pulling into a parking lot. I hit a curb, popped my front tire and my car finally stopped. Upon inspection by aaa, it was discovered that my front passenger side brake line was leaking. Car was towed home. On Monday 12/14/2020, I spoke with Ford who towed my 2017 Ford Edge to the dealership. There are no parts available and they do not know when the part will be available. The letter I received in sept. 2020 stated that there is a recall for this issue and to continue driving the car. Ford would contact me when the part came in - approx. Q1 2021. At this point, I'm without a car and could have injured myself, sister and 3 kids because an issue Ford is aware of and has no estimated date to fix.

24 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 09/10/2020

While driving 9/10/2020 on local street approx 35mph brake pedal went to floor, needed to pump brakes to slow down. Replaced brake line at mr. Tire. This was left rear brake line that ruptured. Vehicle was at Ford dealer for brake check 8/6/2020 and passed inspection. On 12/8/2019 same thing happened to left front brake. Ford issued a recall today on front brake line. I called and was told I should receive recall letter in a few weeks for front brake line. I feel uncomfortable driving a car with defective brakes. No resolution as of today. Called Ford dealer & hotline and was told to wait for letter before taking action.

26 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/10/2020

Ford recall #20s42 - Ford issued this recall 8/10/2020 regarding a brake line(?) issue, over 8 months ago. In checking to have correction made I discovered that they do not have a remedy yet. If this is truly a safety issue regarding braking, should't Ford be pressured to determine a remedy? my vehicle is now 6 years old with 80,000 miles on it. I am concerned. If this is not a serious issue, then please reassure me that it really doesn't need a correction, and that we are not driving a mobile time bomb. Thank you, george palmer.

27 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2012 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 08/06/2020

Bought this car oct 2019. Tonight, Aug 2020, after driving in an intense thunderstorm on the highway doing 70mph, brake pedal suddenly travelled all the way to the floor. Only the last 1/4" (estimated) of travel actually applied any braking effort at all. I thought maybe someone had cut a brake line or something. . . But once I pulled over and turned the car off I checked fluids, etc. (all normal). After restarting the engine, brakes were working properly. Very scary and very dangerous!!! when can I expect this to happen again?!? I really wish I didnt have to drive this thing every night. . .

28 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/17/2020

Ford issues a safety recall for front brake lines in August of 2020 and said there is no remedy of the issue. How is there no remedy? if the brake line is leaking the. You replace a brake line. I actually had an issue with this prior to the recall coming out, depleted brake fluid and couldn't hardly stop and intersections or lights.

29 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/10/2020

As I was driving my 2016 Ford Edge, I went to stop and as I pressed the brake, it slowed at the point to where it should have been coming to a full stop, then the pedal released and was pushed all the way to the floor before it came to a full stop. The next few stops. . . The same thing happened. I called my Ford dealership and asked if it could be low on brake fluid, even though no indicator displayed on my dash. They said it could be a number of things. But as I continued to drive and stop, it got worse. Thankfully, instead of jumping on the highway, I took all back roads to that dealership. As soon as the tech got in the drivers seat and pushed the pedal, to take for a test drive, he told me this thing is not going anywhere. He got underneath, had me push the pedal, and fluid sprayed like a water fountain. he said he can see that the brake line had spilt. This was the drivers side (left front) brake line.

30 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2017 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 07/08/2020

The recall on my vehicle (described) is for the possibility of a hydraulic brake line to rupture, I have been waiting for months and the parts I am told are not available?? should I just park the car for months waiting? or can something be done to wake Ford motor company up? I already had my brake line fail and I had to pay for the repair, this is insane.

31 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/24/2020

Pushed the brake pedal backing out of my garage and heard a pop sound, pedal went to the floor. With brake fluid I was able to drive to a local repair shop, though as I approached stop sings and signals the closer I got to stopping, the pedal would drop close to the floor and continue to coast until I stepped hard on the pedal to stop it. I was told (as I have seen in at least one other report on this site) that the right front brake line had a cut on it and had exploded. I doubt a road hazzard cut the line but suspect an issue with the part itself.

32 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 06/18/2020

On 6/18/2020, while sitting in a parking lot my vehicle with the engine running and my foot on the pedal, the pedal suddenly went to the floor. Not realizing what had actually happened, I drove the 3 miles home; however, in order to engage the brake, I had to step very hard on the brake pedal and it took longer than normal to get the vehicle to slow to a stop. Contacted a repair shop, who removed and replaced both front brake hoses and flushed the brake fluid for a whopping $510. 03. When doing some research, I came across recall # 20s42. As Ford was aware this risk, I do not feel I should be out of pocket the $500+ I would also like to ensure that the hoses used to replace the originals are true Ford parts; as, according to Ford, the parts are not yet available for install.

33 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2015 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 05/07/2020

The brake hose split while driving. I lost brake pedal. The pedal went all the way to the floor with no decrease in speed. I was forced to coast into a parking lot.

34 Brake Hoses, Lines/piping, And Fittings problem of the 2016 Ford Edge

Failure Date: 03/07/2020

One evening in may, 2018, took my car to get gas and felt the brakes too soft. When leaving the gas station, my brakes went to the floor. Put emergency brake on with hazard lights and was able to come to a complete stop at a nearby residential area. Brake fluid was added within minutes; all the fluid ran to the ground. It was towed next morning to the dealer. Dealer stated the brake line had a 2" slash; said anything could've caused it. It was fixed under warranty. On March 7, 2020, went to run errands. When I parked at lot, the brakes felt soft. When leaving the store lot, my brakes went to the floor, again! this time, I'm already in traffic; scariest thing ever! again, put my hazard lights and at barely no speed at all, turned through residential streets to get home safe. Again had it towed Monday morning, back to the dealer. I explained that this previously happened in may 2018. New invoice states: "left front brake hose leaking," and "inspect and found left front brake hose splitting/leaking; replaced left front brake hose, bleed brake system, test drove and ok at this time. " this time? I was told the may 2018 issue was the same, except that one was the back brake hose. And no warranty this time; had to pay over $500 for repair. Very disappointed that Ford hasn't made a recall on this issue. I travel 35 miles daily to work on the toll road. What am I to do when this happens on a 60-mile speed limit highway? I'm terrified now and don't have many options for getting to work. I read online that others have had the same exact issue with the same vehicle. If a recall isn't in the works, I'm getting rid of this vehicle, albeit our family car. My kid's 2014 Ford focus has had transmission issues for years. I cannot continue to hope that nothing happens, nor can I continue to pay this much money for Ford's mistakes. Nhtsa, please - find this problem!.
