Both of my tail lights (brakes and turn signals) on both right and left rear went out. Upon inspection, I discovered that the lights had melted at the base and there was black soot covering each bulb and residue in the light assembly from what appeared to be a small fire. I replaced the bulbs and have had no further issues. Ford declined to respond to my concern.
Tail lights repeatedly burn out. Light socket is blackened. Appears the bulb is running too hot. This occurs on both sides of the vehicle.
Tail lights burn up, melt. Sockets are burned black. . . . . .
The rear tail light bulbs have a very short life span, every time I replace one, the base of the bulb is always melted. The sockets themselves are burnt, why are these tail lights getting so excessively hot?.

Burnt tail light sockets on 2008 Ford Edge. Both left and right side.
Continue right rear tail light burnout. Plastic on blubs melted. Discoloration on socket. I now have about 100,000 mi on the car and have replaced 5 bulbs. I wrote a letter to Ford and they rejected my complaint. This is a fire hazard. Industrial plastic melts at about 300 of. This is a design defect which Ford is ignoring! I can provide photos of burned out bulbs and damaged socket. Left rear turn bulb svl 12v 3157.

Rear tail light bulbs require frequent replacing. Bulbs and sockets are discolored and show minor menting of plastic socket material. The correct 4157k bulbs are being used as per the owner's manual. This vehicle was purchased by us new.
The rear tail light socket on the passenger side is extremely charred. The light bulb on that side has failed 5 times over 7 years, clearly from overheating, causing loss of brake light and turn light. The other side has never failed but shows early signs of overheating.
Tail light bulb burnt out. Appears socket is burnt. Dealership said no problem with socket only the bulb. I looked on line and appears a lot of people are observing burnt and melted bulb sockets on a lot of vehicles.
Tail light blinkers are melting into the sockets. I have to replace the bulbs once a year because they blow, I was also told by a mechanic that the reason my speaker blew on the right side of the car was do to extra electrical power.
