Lost power while driving in the middle lane on rt. 17 south near ramsey NJ. Engine was still on but rpm`s was very erratic. Wrench warning light came on the check engine light came on. Issues with electronic throttle noted on web sites for Ford Escape models.
Slowing to stop at stop light in line of traffic on 10/6/2014, light turned green, traffic moving, attempted to accelerate, found car unable to do so, looked at dash, some lights were on (remember battery light, check engine light and possible oil light), but as I was in traffic, I was in a bit of a panic, I put car in park and turned key. Car started up and was able to run normally. On 10/10/14 in traffic driving at 25 miles an hour slowing to adjust to traffic, as accelerator is pressed to maintain this speed and keep up with traffic, car does not accelerate as gas is pressed, look down at dash, lights are on, remember battery light, check engine light, another one, possible oil, I was able to steer car off road into parking lot. Stopped car, put in park restarted and again was able to run normally. **this same thing happened about a year ago, was slowly driving into the driveway at work, and the car just wouldn't go. . . . I stopped, put it in park and restarted it, and have not had this problem again until now. At that time, I had the battery checked and battery was fine. As I do not have the date or mileage I can not report it in boxes above but feel it is noteworthy.
September 10 2014, vehicle was serviced at henry curtis Ford in petaluma California for recall 14s05. Prior to this recall, we had no problems with our vehicle. October 3 2014, vehicle stalled at 65 mph driving on highway. My wife was driving up hill on the highway in the far right lane and was able to pull off the highway to the shoulder. Vehicle towed to repair shop, unable to find any error codes. Vehicle towed to henry curtis Ford dealership in petaluma California where the vehicle was purchased new in 2008. A $145 diagnostic was done and only one error code was reported by the dealer. Code b1239 ( air flow blend door driver circuit failure). Vehicle could be driven as there were no check engine lights on at that time. We picked up the vehicle from henry curtis Ford, and drove home. October 10 2014. Rpm's shifting up and down while driving on the highway at 65mph. Had vehicle towed to repair shop in san francisco. Serviced and replaced parts for b1239 error. Mechanic test drove vehicle and now another error code displays code p2112. P2112 Ford - throttle actuator control system error. The mechanic is replacing the throttle body and reprogramming the pcm. I called the Ford dealership and was told my VIN is not covered under any recalls for p2112. When I asked about consumer satisfaction program 13n03, I was told my VIN is not included. We had no problems with the vehicle prior to bringing it in for the recall 14s05. Now after that service we are having several problems and I have read that other vehicle owners are also having the same p2112 error. Ford should include our vehicle in this problem and see if the other two incidents we have are related some how. Everyone I spoke to at Ford did not want to help, but continue to charge me more diagnostic charges and repair. Thankfully we have an honest mechanic that is helping us out.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the engine stalled and the check engine light illuminated. The contact merged to an emergency lane where the vehicle was turn off and after restarting it resume normal function. Also, the contact noticed that when the accelerator pedal was depressed slowly, the vehicle would lunge forward. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact received a customer satisfaction program notification related to the failure that the vehicle was exhibiting. However, the dealer refused to provide the repairs listed since the failure code did not show during the diagnosis. Also, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and explained that they were not obligated to honor the campaign unless the codes were available during the diagnosis. The approximate failure mileage was 98,500.
Vehicle suddenly looses power and idles hard. Repeatedly over the past month when trying to accelerate from a stop vehicle will loose all engine power. The vehicle will still move forward as if it was in gear without your foot on the gas/brake. I was almost t-boned when trying to make a left turn in the middle of an intersection and when I went to accelerate suddenly I had no power. I have to turn the engine off then start the vehicle again and it will work just fine. The check engine light comes on once the vehicle looses power but once you turn the car off and turn it back on it is gone.
Check engine light came on as with the drive train light. Had computer read. Showing a p2119 code/throttle actuator control. Note: vehicle was in Ford dealer on 24 July 2014 due to recall issued on pcm.
Vehicle enters limp mode and all power is lost, engine starts to stutter and tachometer jumps, wrench light (power-train) comes on. 3 times in 1 week. Mph = 60, 45, 30. Avoided accident and pulled over. Restarted vehicle and back to normal. No check engine light or codes stored. Dealer states they cannot diagnose unless they can recreate the problem. Danger of rear ending, t-bones upon left turns, and intersection pileups.
I was driving to work on the expressway during the morning rush hour doing 70 mph when my vehicle stalled. I had to risk moving over three lanes to the off ramp without having power. I rolled up the exit ramp and pulled safely to the side of the road. I was able to restart the car but noticed both the check engine light and service light were on. The car died two additional times before I got to an auto repair shop. The repair shop told me the service code was p2111 which indicated a problem with the throttle. This was a terrible incident and I was relieved to make it safely off the road.
While driving the wrench light and check engine light came on and the vehicle went into limp home mode and would not go faster than a couple of miles an hour. The engine was surging during this time. I could turn the vehicle off and restart it but it would immediately do the same thing again. The codes that were read from the vehicle were p2111 and p2112 and said the throttle stuck open and throttle stuck closed.
I was driving 35 mph in town when vehicle seemed to be losing power. I pulled over to the side of the road. The engine was running at a very rough idle . I tried to accelerate but it would barely move. I turned the engine off and restarted it . It did the same thing, no acceleration. I did this several times before it would run properly. It seemed rather jerky while driving. I was about 10 miles from home when this happened. On the way home I was driving at 55 mph and it died completely. The check engine light came on this time. I got it restarted and made it home. I have a code reader at my house. I checked and codes p2111 and p2112 were stored in the computer. I checked with a mechanic and was told the codes relate to the throttle body assembly. I was going to have it repaired but the mechanic told me that the part is on national back order. This is my only vehicle and I' m afraid to drive. What can I do.
While driving at various speeds, conditions, the wrench warning light appears and the car becomes limp and non responsive. Engine was running hard. Had to turn off vehicle and restart (which was difficult). This occurred again within minutes, this time with the check engine light coming on. Went directly to repair shop and had it checked. Was told that error code p2111 was being shown. The throttle body was cleaned and the gas pedal assembly was replaced. The next day, the same problems continued. I am scared to drive this car, especially with my children in it as I am worried it will die while pulling out in traffic or that someone will rear end us.
Tl - the contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 76,000. Rvk.
Vehicle stalled and hesitated, check engine light and wrench light illuminated and vehicle went into limp mode. Pulled over and turned off vehicle when restarted lights were no longer illuminated, drove about a half mile and it happened again, repeated pulling over and restarting the vehicle, drove another 12 miles and it occurred again.
Driving and engine lost power check engine light on pulled code 2112.
While driving at 60 mph, the car went in to limp mode. We costed to the shoulder turned car off. It re started no issues, check engine light came on. Took to my mechanic who clean throttle body plate. Car ran great for about 5 days then again same problem arises. Call Ford to purchase part and told it is on national back order no idea when the part could be available. So I am not stuck with a car that could get me or my family hurt.
The vehicle suddenly lost power, wrench icon and check engine light came on. Car lost all mobility and use of gas peddle. Luckily was on a street and not a highway. After turning the car on and off the car appeared to be working normally. Several minutes later the condition repeated itself, and then once again several minutes later after turning the car off and on again. Took car to get error code and returned a p2112 error code referencing the throttle body. This is an extremely dangerous defect, and could easily have caused a serious wreck if at high speed. Or intersection. Car is currently at the dealer.
I was driving along when my vehicle began to sputter and stop. I was able to crank the vehicle up and drive a few feet before it started back up again, this time with the check engine light on. I was able to make it to an advanced auto parts store where they pulled the check engine error code and it indicated that it was an issue with the throttle body. I am able to drive it currently, but I am concerned that the throttle will stick just as I'm attempting to cross a busy intersection.
In September of 2010, the check engine light on my Ford Escape would come on and off, on and off. Some times it would stay on for weeks and then just disappear. Sometimes it would stay on for a day or two and then disappear. And whenever I need to take it to the repair shop, the check engine light was never on. Pep boys could never find anything wrong because they check engine light was never on, and no codes appeared. When pep boys drove the car, it never stopped on them. In April of 2012, as my son was home from college and driving the car, it shut off on him on the freeway on many occasions. He would explain to me that the engine went off and the car would not accelerate. He would have to pull over and either restart it or wait an hour for it to start sometimes. This happened on numerous occasions at fast and slow speeds. The check engine light and maintenance lights would come on. The car began stopping on me with the exact same problems stated above. Every time I took the car to pep boys, they would drive it for hours and it never stopped on them. On April 29, 2012, I took the car in to pep boys, and the stop engine code read that the cam sensor needed to be replaced. I got the car back on may14, 2012, and it immediately stopped on me. Then it ran good for two weeks, then it began stopping again on a regular basis. On June 21, 2012, I took the car in and the codes read throttle problem. They replaced the throttle and I got the car back on June, 29, 2013. I have spend over $3500. 00 on this problem and would like to get reimbursed. One thing to not is that the original check light began to come on around August of 2011 and there never was a clear diagnosis until may and June of 2013.
Took my vehicle in to Ford dealer due to check engine light stuck on. Diagnostics pulled 2 codes, p0011 & p0012. These 2 codes are major engine problems!! both solenoids need to be replaced, and possibly have to replace both cylinder heads and cam shafts if head and camshafts show wear = thus a very very expensive engine repair cost for me!! the Ford dealership said this is only covered under warranty up to 60,000 miles: my Escape had only 63,296 miles on 4-2-13, the day I went to the dealership. I'm climbing up the tree at Ford motor company an feel I have a "lemon" Ford vehicle!! I want to know why Ford motor company did not send out any recall notices to 2009 Ford Escape owners regarding this major-major engine malfunction = serious engine repair costs to me due to their negligence !! I am over the warranty timeline by 3,296 miles !!! I should not have to pay for this engine repair !!.
Was driving about 25-30 mph on a side street, vehicle started to sputter and stall, felt like the engine was dying, so was able to pull off into a parking lot and turned the car off, sat for a few mins, then restarted and pulled out and everything was fine. Approximately 6 months later, similar issue, was driving about 25 on a side street, car sputtered, stalled, so pulled over, turned off, waited then restarted. A few days later, was driving about 35 on a side street, same issue, then the check engine light came on, so pulled over and called for a tow. Car is currently being serviced at the Ford dealership and have been notified that it was a throttle body issue, which I am having to pay $550 to fix.
Driving and wrench light came on at the same time that the vehicle lost power. This had happened previously on 11/25/12 and the dealer repair was replacing both vct solenoids and valve cover gaskets. Both times when this had happened before I turned the engine off and restarted after 3-5 minutes. I was able to go another 6-8 miles and then the wrench light came back on. The second time, the check engine light came on and then seconds later 8 other lights were lit on the dash. I turned the engine off after coasting to the median of the highway (was in left lane with traffic at 55mph) and waited for a tow from the dealer. Now the dealer is telling me this repair (replacement of throttle body) is not covered as the vehicle is more than 3 years old (actually, I've had it for 44 months). I want Ford to pay for this repair as it seems rather common from what I'm seeing on-line.
Tl - the contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on two occasions where the failure was unable to be replicated. On the third occasion, it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000 and the current mileage was 70,000. Dr.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The engine continued running however, the vehicle would not accelerate. The check engine warning light illuminated once after the failure. The contact had to turn off and restart vehicle in order to resolve the failure momentarily. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who ran a diagnostic and discovered that the failure was caused by the variable cam timing solenoid. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was waiting to receive a response from the manufacturer. The failure and current mileage was 44,000.
Drive south on I-95 at rush hour heading home. With no warning engine power just goes away, check engine light came on and no matter how much the gas pedal was push there was no power from engine, hurried as it slowed down to the right lane and was able to exit. Shut off engine for 5 minutes started it up and all was good. 2nd time was light came on and engine just fluttered, service tech stated that the codes in computer were throttle actuator open.
