While driving on streets and highway, engine will stall out, complete shutoff, with no warning signs or lights. The computer is not storing any codes indicating faults. After a stall, can put the car back in park or neutral and restart. Most commonly occurs when transitioning from braking to acceleration.
Was accelerating after coasting to slow down for a turn on city streets. Engine stalled out and service, oil, and battery lights all illuminated on the panel. Vehicle lost all power and had to coast to a stop. Put it in park, turned off and restarted with no issue. This is the 5th time this has happened in the last 18 months, all in simliar scenarios where accelerating after coasting.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. While driving 70 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and shifted the gear into park. Once restarted, the vehicle returned to normal. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-678-7986 and stated that the vehicle needed to be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was 100,000.
On several occasions, either while stopped or during acceleration after a stop the engine stalls. Sometimes on city streets and twice on a freeway onramp waiting for the metering light. The dealer has said on numerous occasions that they can't "reproduce" the problem so there is nothing they can do.
Was accelerating from a stop and the engine stalled. This is the second time this has happened in the last 2 months. Throttle body had been replaced a couple of years ago, so concerned this is a different issue.
While driving steady at 50+ mph on an interstate, there was slight on again/off again hesitation while keeping constant pressure on the gas pedal. Without warning, the engine seemed to lose all power, and forced me to coast to the side of the road. A 'wrench' warning light appeared on my dashboard system, and while the engine had not stalled, it was running very low and rough. I again tried to apply pressure to the gas pedal and it was completely unresponsive. I turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds and restarted it. It ran as if there was nothing wrong, and there were no more warning icons showing on the dashboard. It ran without issue for another 15 minutes on the highway, until it again lost all engine power, and this time the engine warning light came on instead of the wrench icon. Restarting it let me drive a few more miles to reach my home.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the engine stalled and the vehicle began to shake as the wrench warning icon illuminated. The vehicle was coasted off the roadway as the engine was restarted. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 96000.
The engine sputters and stalls while driving. It has done this 10 or more times in the last two weeks. The yellow wrench symbol is displayed on the instrument panel. After getting to the side of the road and switching the car off and back on, the car will run fine for a few miles - sometimes for a day or two. After talking with a couple Ford dealers, I was told that this is a common problem with the throttle body and there was no throttle body's available to fix the problem. There was a two to three month backorder for the part. If I keep driving the car it will be a matter of time before the car will cause an accident. If this is a known problem Ford should be responsible for the repair.
Vehicle engine stalled I-10east went into emergency lane, vehicle was still trying to run the engine was choking but no accelaration. I stopped put the vehicle in park turned the key and it started. This has happened 3 times since the first time. I dont want to be a statistic.
Purchased used 2009 Ford Escape in August 2012. Ran fine for the first month then started to hesitate when accelerating. We are now having repeated hesitation and engine surging. We are becoming concerned about pulling into traffic and having the engine stall. With only 44000 miles in it, Ford will not pay for the repair because it is out of warranty. First Ford purchased in 30 years, probably the last too.
The day after purchasing my 2009 Ford Escape on 2/16/2012, the engine stalled while I was driving. I was slowing down to turn into a driveway, and the dash board lit up (engine, oil and other lights). I put the car and park and restarted it. I thought it was a random event. A week later it stalled again while traveling approx 60 miles per hour on a highway. I had slowed because the speed limit had decreased in that area. The dash lit up again and the car stalled. I again, put it in park and restarted the truck. The car was taken to the approved mechanic for the dealership and they could not find out why the vehicle stalled. The mech stated a code indicated problems with the gas cap but no reason for the stalling. The fuel assembly was replaced. The car has stalled approx three times since then. Today, 4/23/12, I was traveling approx 40 mph and it stalled while in traffic. I was glad the person behind me stopped without rear ending me. Approx 5 minutes later, as I was turning into my parking space at work, it stalled again. I repeated the usual . . . Shift to park and restart. This is very dangerous!!!.
The traffic was light; I was driving on rt. 173 going east between hunt club rd and 41. As I passed over the bridge covering I-94, I let my foot off the gas to cruise which allowed traffic to merge and clear. The road changes from two lanes to one lane at this point. I was driving about 40-45 mph and I slowed down to about 30-35 mph. I was driving straight in the left lane. As I started to accelerate after traffic in front of me cleared, I stepped on the gas and there was no response. I repeated and looked down and saw that all the gauge lights were on. The steering was difficult and I applied the brakes slightly and realized that the engine was off. The engine stalled. There were no noises. The windows were open. The ac was off. I shifted the car in neutral and started the engine as the car coasted in a straight line. The engine re-started and I continued to drive to rt. 41. The engine stalled again 2/4/12 with mileage at 33,866. Both times I informed the dealer who said there were no issues found.
Stalling when going on gas to pass another car or up a steep hill. After releasing gas pedal quickly, car wants to still accelerates for a good three to four seconds. Also engine stalls out at low speeds when making a sharp turn, like into a parking space. Was told by dealer the first two are normal and the third item they could not find anything wrong.
The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that after slowing down and accelerating the engine stalled. The dealer was contacted and stated that they could not duplicate the failure. The failure occurred approximately 20 times and the vehicle was taken to the dealer each time. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,419. The current mileage was approximately 15,000.
