1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

My wife owns a 2009 Ford Escape purchased new from a dealer and there have been so many issues with the vehicle I question if there wasn’t some type of flaw in the manufacturing process or at the very least, some type failure in the quality control process. Within weeks of purchasing this Ford Escape we had to take the vehicle back to the dealer for an oil leak and transmission problems. After 2 or 3 trips to the dealer, the oil leak was fixed but the transmission issues (2 overhauls and then replacement) continued for years. Thankfully, Ford covered and the dealer covered 2/3 of the cost of the second transmission overhaul and almost all of the cost for the transmission replacement. All of this work was completed at the Ford dealer ship in meter georgia. Nice folks, we have no issue with the dealership. Approximately 6 months ago, due to low engine power and using oil, we had the vehicle worked on at a local shop. That total cost for repair was 1600 dollars. Last week due to a massive oil leak we had to have the vehicle towed in a local shop. The Ford Escape appears to have a cracked timing belt cover. Having never heard of a vehicle having a cracked timing belt cover, I decided to do some research; a cursory internet search reveals many, many complaints of 2009 Ford Escapes with cracked timing belt covers. For our vehicle this will make five major repairs and numerous minor issues in a vehicle not 4 years old!! there has to be some manufacturing process with these vehicles. 2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/20/2013

The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the check engine light illuminated as the vehicle decelerated and the steering wheel tightened. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was stated that the eye bar pulley needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

While driving on the beltline, the vehicle stopped responding to the accelerator. I put on hazard lights, changed two lanes to get to the right-hand shoulder, and stopped. Fortunately the traffic was not heavy at the time (9:30pm). Restarting the vehicle fixed the problem, and I was able to drive home. However due to the safety hazard, I have not driven it since.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2013

Truck failed to accelerate from a red light, with pedal completely engaged. Had continued loss power/thrust when I push the gas. This happens so often now, I am not comfortable driving in heavy traffic as I never know if I'll be able to accelerate. Sunday after finally getting home, I was unable to get it to stay cranked when I depress the gas pedal to reverse. This loss of power was exuberated by having the a/c running. First the timing cover leaks at 22, 761, then a pulley falls off the engine at 40,149 spraying oil all over my interior via the a/c. After the pulley was replaced the car would idle high and then started jerking as if it wanted to stall, took to Ford dealership and was told there were no codes, finally had the tech drive with me and he felt the jerking. After three visits for this, in November 2012 at 50,000 I was am told the coil pack needs to be replaced, now at 55, 063 miles I am told it is the throttle body that needs to be replaced? I think I was sold a lemon and in the state of florida that's illegal. What if I am rear ended due to the horrible craftsmanship of your product?.

5 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2010

The contact owns a 2009 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph the timing chain cover cracked causing the serpentine belt to come loose. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and who replaced the timing cover. Five months later the vehicle started leaking oil and when the contact took the vehicle back to the dealer they discovered that the timing chain cover had cracked again. The dealer had not determined what caused the timing chain cover to crack. The contact stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was 28,000.
