Car stalled while I was driving over the railroad track. After barely got it to go over the railroad (luckly train didn't come while I was barely moving) pulled over to side and shut the car off and started back up. Wrench looking light and engine check light came on while it was trying to stall, it happened 2more times while trying to make it back home. After few checking around it is caused by the faulty throttle body.
Vehicle stalled upon acceleration from stop, and lost all throttle function. Surges at idle, and intermittently stalls. Throttle failed the next day at highway speed. Same symptoms as the failed throttle body sensor issue that was fixed by October 2009, but my Escape was built in December '09 after the problem was supposedly fixed.
I was stopped at a red light and the car gave a sudden jolt and died. I start it back up just fine, but when I stated going again, it stalled and died again. I got it started, got onto a busy street, made a u- turn and it did again. I was lucky enough to get it started and off the incredibly busy street before there was an accident. I am now having a problem, I cant even drive a quarter mile before it dies again.
In August rush-hour morning traffic at approximately 60mph the vehicle suddenly without warning went into 'limp mode', the engine rpm decreased to under 1000rpm and I was able to fight thru several lanes of traffic while coasting the vehicle to the side of the road. No throttle inputs affected the engine, it remained under 1000rpm and ran very rough as if it was going to stall. I shut the car completely off, waited a minute, then restarted the engine and was able to continue to the workplace. Two days later on a short trip to a restaurant, the engine again went into 'limp mode'. I shutoff the vehicle and restarted and continued on my way. About 1/4 mile later the engine went into 'limp mode' again. The vehicle would go into 'limp mode' after every 1/4 - 1/2 mile for a total of 4 times on the short trip. I then took the vehicle to the dealership, where it is now. This 2010 Ford Escape has 86k miles. The dealership says it is a bad throttle body. I called Ford customer relations and they will not do anything to help because of the mileage and no recall has been issued due to NHTSA action number: pe13003 as of yet (still in investigation since feburary). I cannot safely drive this vehicle.
Car stalled with a wrench on dashboard. Had to turn the car off and on again. Took longer to start.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact pulled to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer or mechanic. The contact did not call the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 62,189.
Vehicle would stutter and then stall on multiple ocassions. Happened once on the first day, twice on the second, and 5 times (including 3 on the way to the dealership) on the third day. This is extremely unsafe, as you are never sure when it is going to happen. I was told that I have a "bad throttle body. ".
We were traveling at 55 mph on the highway when my Ford Escape suddenly stalled and would no longer respond when I pressed the accelerator. My SUV slowed to a stop where I cut it off. Unfortunately, I did not have enough speed to pull off to a safe location and was stuck in the middle of the very busy highway where I was almost sideswiped by a tractor trailer truck. It was a very scary situation to say the least. This has since happened 3 more times, the most recent being yesterday August 23 on an interstate overpass in rush hour traffic. Again I did not have enough speed to pull off to a safe location and was stuck in the center lane of the overpass. I was able to restart my car soon after stalling out and was able to an auto store that pulled the code of p2112, which is the throttle body code. Of course my warranty ran out in June 2013 and Ford estimates the repair to cost $500 minimum. And sadly, I am now afraid to drive my Escape as I fear it will get me into an accident. I ask that Ford take responsibility for the obvious flaw in throttle body and make the recall!.
Car stalled in traffic!.
Vehicle begins to loose power/ stall. The "wrench" light illuminates on the dash. After pulling over and restarting, it will go another 5 - 10 miles and it does it again. After 2 - 3 times it will throw the "check engine" light (code p2112). We checked/ cleaned the throttle body and cleared the code. Car ran ok for about 3 days (50 miles), and it happened again. We are looking into hiring an attorney as Ford does not want to help cover the cost to repair this defect. I have two young children that ride in this car, and uncontrolled stalling and sputtering is dangerous on busy streets. Twice, this happened in the middle of an intersection, and at one time, it completely died going 40 mph, and the power steering quit, causing me to almost head into oncoming traffic. Please help us and others with this issue, before someone is seriously injured or loses their life.
Left work, and as started up a road, the car stalled and wrench light came on. Luckily no one was behind me as I would have been rear-ended I pulled over, restarted car, looked up light, proceeded. It stalled two more times before I got home (driving in the right hand lane so could get out of moving traffic quickly , the third time the engine light came on. Getting it to the dealer the car stalled again. I reported the problem to the dealer, who confirmed it was the throttle that needed replacing.
Driving down the highway and the engine went "limp". The vehicle did not stall but did not have any power. Pulled off to the side of the road, observed the wrench light on the dashboard. After a minute I turned off and then restarted the vehicle without problem. Approximately 8-10 miles down the road the exact same issue arose. Pulled off to the side of the road and restarted once again. Additionally, the engine light came on an stayed on. Previously, over the past year I have experienced more subtle issues when trying to accelerate in which the vehicle sort of hiccups and then eventually begins to accelerate. Had the engine code read and determined the 2112 code identified a stuck throttle.
While driving at highway speed, vehicle stalled, no power, we had to pull over onto the shoulder. The wrench icon was displayed. After turning off the vehicle, we were able to restart engine and travel home. The same thing happened two more times. Luckily, we were able to pull over with no collision, although on two occasions, traffic was heavy. After the third incident, we made an appointment at our Ford dealer service department. They diagnosed throttle body failure and replaced the throttle body at the cost of $500. 00, not covered by warranty. Mileage on the odometer is 55,000. Why has there been no recall on this part? are you waiting for serious injury or death? this is an extremely hazardous incident waiting to happen. Ford motor company and the nhsta are obligated to protect the public and issue a recall as soon as possible.
Just driving along one day and upon crossing an intersection of a busy street the call stalled. I pushed the gas pedal and couldnt accelerate. Luckily I was able to pull of on a side street without holding up traffic. When I got to the side street I shut the car off and started it again and after taking awhile it finally started back up only to do the same thing a block later. The problem seemed to have gone away for a couple weeks but has came back recently and is ever more frequent. When it sets over night or for long periods of time it is driveable but after a few miles it starts to stall again. Driving under 30 mph or accelerating super slow seems to help some times but not always. Still probably not very safe to drive it like that especially pulling onto a busy street or out into a busy intersection.
On July 14 2013, my vehicle 2010 Ford Escape XLT stalled in the middle of the highway. The vehicle was travelling at 60 mph when the incident occurred. After the stall, the vehicle did not respond to gas pedal. It slowed down. I was able to pull the vehicle to safety lane. During the incident, the wrench sign appeared on the dashboard indicator. After the vehicle came to complete stop, I was able to restart the vehicle. I drove the vehicle to the dealership service center at reduced speed of 25 mph. They diagnosed that the issue is with the throttle body and mentioned that the whole throttle body needs to be replaced.
Vehicle appears to be stalling out at random times. When this happens, there is no power from the gas pedal and no rpm movement. An orange wrench light comes on when the failure occurs. Must pull over and turn engine completely off and restart to correct. The engine sputters for several seconds upon restart before turning back on. This process often has to repeated multiple times throughout the course of a single trip. Vehicle was taken to a local auto care shop on 8/1/13 and it was determined the throttle body assembly is malfunctioning. Was told by the service representative that there is a national back order on the part from Ford and it could take up to a month to get the part in. The quote for the repair was $420 (including the cost of labor). Upon further research of the issue over the internet it was determined that over 725,000 complaints have been filed over the same issue on the Ford Escapes, yet no recall has taken effect.
After sitting with my car running in a parked position for approximately one minute, I put the car in drive. I drove for an estimated 30 seconds. Then I stopped to check for oncoming traffic before pulling out into an intersection. When I pressed the gas to make a right turn onto that major road, the yellow/orange "wrench" sign immediately popped up. Simultaneously, my car began to rumble and shake. In addition, despite pressing the gas pedal, my car was not accelerating. I immediately pulled onto the shoulder of the road, which was difficult to do since my car was struggling to move. I turned the car off and restarted it. It was difficult to get the car to restart. It struggled and sounded like it was going to stall out, but after approximately ten seconds, it started up. Now, in addition to the "wrench" light, my Escape also had the check engine symbol lit up. Even though I was sitting on the side of the road with my car running in the parked position, my car was still rumbling and shaking. Interesting to note, I was actually on the way home from the Ford service department where I had just had my car serviced for a seemingly unrelated problem. The day before the throttle went, my back passenger tire became stuck in a locked position, and I was unable to drive. I had to pump my brakes, and put my emergency brake (which had not been engaged) on and off several times to unlock the back passenger tire. Ford determined this incident was due to water getting on the brake shoe which made it stick to the brake drum. They cleaned, readjusted and lubricated my rear brakes (drums, shoes, etc) and sent me on my way. My throttle went while I was on my way home from the service department at Ford where they had just fixed my brake issue. I had to be towed back to Ford since my car was not able to run.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated the vehicle did not lose electrical power just power to the engine. The contact had to pull over and restart the vehicle however, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that the throttle body assembly malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The dealer did not replace the throttle body assembly. The failure mileage was 44,600. Kmj.
Vehicle stalls while driving , stalls while idle , rpm's spike while driving !!! scary !! codes read p2112 . (throttle stuck open ) thinking bad throttle body ?.
Was driving on the 101 in phoenix arizona and the car started jerking. Luckily I was close to an exit so I got off. I turned off the car, restarted it, and started to drive. I drove about 100 feet and it stalled. I was able to restart the car and drive it a half mile to a gas station. However, the car was jerking the whole time. The official word was that the throttle was the issue.
While at stop light when attempting to take off nothing happened as gas pressed. Vehicle stalled restart and drove fine. Made service appointment had to wait 6 days. Meantime the rpm flecuated at idle and acted as if wanted to stall. I was afraid to drive the car. Went in for service told it was the mass air flow valve sensor. We cleaned, car ran fine for a week then we stalled while driving 65 mph on I-75. Replaced the maf sensor but no change to the rmps. Took car back to dealer they stated it could be abs related kept the car overnight to call and tell me they could not find a trouble but they suspect it was the electronic throttle control but could not back that in writting. I drove the car home (less than 10 miles) ran in house get something and the car stalled in driveway. Restarted stalled three more times. How can I be told there is no problem and three mechanics drove it on three differnt drives and I get in the car and it occurs immediatly. I feel lied to and dont think I will ever be comfortable driving a Ford car. This was my first and it will be my last. Ford does not stand behind their product and their customer care in poor. It has been 11 days and the car is unreliable and I dont feel I can trust the Ford dealership.
Accelerated to merge into traffic and my 2010 Ford Escape started to act like it was going to stall when I pressed on the gas pedal. Ever time I tried to accelerate it felt like it was "choking" and wanted to stall. I had to put the vehicle in neutral and press on the gas to keep it from stalling. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership and was told that the throttle body needed to be replaced. In addition to the fact the throttle body needs to be replaced I am now being told there is a nationwide back order on the part and I will not get the repair completed for 2-3 weeks. I am 1-1/2 months passed warranty with only 26,000 miles and neither Ford nor the dealership will loan me a vehicle while my car sits at the dealership nor will this even be considered warranty work.
Car stalled and quickly slowed down in heavy traffic and had to pull onto a narrow shoulder with lots of debris. Car would then allow me to speed up again and repeat the rapid stall until ultimately going into limp mode. Was later found to be the throttle body that was said to be on back-order for three weeks since so many others were having the same issue with their Escapes and that Ford had a redesign in work. Had to pay my extended warranty CO-pay since Ford has no recall for this issue.
Escape sputtered & stalled. Restarted & was serviced by Ford to 'clean' the throttle body. Within a few days, it exhibited the same behavior but much more frequent rendering the car unreliable. Replacement parts are not available from the dealer for another 3-4 weeks.
First time I noticed a problem with the car it started to surge at a stop light. This has happened a few times in the last month. Then while driving on the freeway at approx. 65 mph the car stalled out and had to pull over. Turned off vehicle and then restarted car and drove it straight to the dealership. Dealership checked codes and said throttle body assembly failed. Part is on back order. This is a huge safety concern!.
The vehicle stalled while driving on the highway at 60 mph.
The vehicle either stalled or went into safe or limp home mode while traveling around 70 mph on the interstate. This happened during a busy traffic time causing other vehicles to brake hard to avoid an accident. I with my 3 year old son were stranded on the side of the highway until someone was able to get the car back home for me. It was a scary and dangerous situation. P2112 was the code that was read when we had it looked at. Apparently an issue with the throttle body.
Driving approx 40mph when vehicle started stalling. Rpm drops to approx 1000, gas pedal does not respond. Happened multiple times in the past, taken to dealership but "no codes were found to suggest a defect. " have to turn the car off and restart with it being in park before starts to run and wrench ligh turns off. Drove to the dealer after that last incident on 6/21, code 2111 was found to be pending which would have been lost if I turned the car off, found it to be the electronic throttle body. For a car that is 3 years old and 40k miles, it is dangerous to have ths defect as if it happens on the highway you are stuck with a chance for a semi-truck to rear end you. Please allow this recall for the safety of others.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 55 mph the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and operated as designed for a few miles at which time the failure recurred. The failure recurred twelve times over the course of a month. A diagnostic test was scheduled with a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 56,000.
Vehicle stalled several times. Loses power with no acceleration when feeding gas. Wrench indicator light comes on, indicates throttle body issue. Vehicle needs to be restarted. Took to the shop after 3 incidences. Mechanics tell me the electronic throttle body has failed. Parts on national back order due to high frequency of incidences. Please issue a recall!.
Experienced repeated stalling of engine while going 40+ miles per hour. Engine would run for approx. One block then stall. Vehicle went to limp mode.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and could not be restated. The check engine and the power train warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who stated that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The failure was reported to the manufacturer and they stated that the part was on back order. The failure and current mileage was 43,000.
My car stalled out as I was driving down the street. I had to turn off my car and restart it. It was able to restart but about 5 minutes later it did the same thing. At one point I was in the middle of an intersection. When I took it in to the dealership they told me this was happening to many other Ford Escapes as well as Ford fusions. At this point they told me the part was back ordered for 2-3 weeks. They told me most people were just able to drive the car with the random stalling out until the parts came in.
Wrench light came on while driving car and barely had enough rpms to get off road. Had to pull battery cable off to get car to move. This happened three times to get the car 20 miles to home then trailered to Ford dealer. Said it was a bad tb. The car has also stalled at 0mph and sometimes surges. One time this winter the car surged causing it to hit my tractor and busted bumper cover and fog lamp.
While driving, the vehicle stalled out 1 time today, 1 time yesterday, and 1 time about 3 weeks ago. No sign of a problem until the engine stopped accelerating suddenly. Called the Ford dealer today, and they say it is a known problem with this make/model/year. He said the throttle body is bad and will have to be replaced. However, these parts are on about a 2 week wait because they are on "national backorder". Obviously a bigger problem than Ford can keep up with. This stalling is dangerous because it happens at highway speeds. The car can be doing 45+ and suddenly slow down to a stop, risking injury to the people in the car and other motorists. Ford needs to announce a recall to keep someone from getting hurt.
