Transmission is failing. I'm literally waiting for it to drop dead. When driving, the vehicle has multiple hard shifts into different gears. This occurs no matter what gear it goes too. The power acts like it wants to give up and rocks the car back and forth while accelerating and shifting gears. Sometimes the shift doesn't even occur. Move the prndl lever too fast from any setting, the car makes a loud jerking noise. Also when parking on any hill with the e-brake on, the car makes a very loud noise sounding like the brakes are going to giveaway and the car moves. Its barely noticeable, but I sat in the car to test it , and while sitting in the car you could totally tell it moved. It does this 3 times minimum when parked.

On February 2017 I brought a 2014 Ford Escape at about 59 k miles and now it has about 70k miles on it. I was totally clueless as to how unsafe this car was and all of the numerous complaints/issues that consumers are having with this car. On 09/22/2017, this car totally broke down. This car is a safety hazard as I almost got into an accident as the car without made a loud noise, and without any warning just stopped/shut down in traffic. None of the safety indicator alerts worked in this car so I was clueless that the card had any issues. I only owned this car for about 6 months at the time and it was clearly out of warranty. I had the car towed only to find out that it is the transmission, bad battery, abs issues and possibly an alternator. I was also advised that it was an electrical issues and possible a recall that is why no warnings lights came on to let me know it was a problem. I reached out to Ford who basically said sorry we don't care have a nice day. This car is not safe and should be taken off of the market until Ford can get this in order. I really hope someone look into this matter before someone lose their life.
While my daughter was driving the car less than 10 minutes from home after just starting up for the morning in June 27, 2017 under hood started to smoke, caught on fire, an explosion sound and car burned up . Car had to be put out by fire department. Total loss per insurance company . This car has a engine fire recall and I was told recall work was done prior to sale of the car to me by Ford dealer in may 2017. However I now find out that the actual recall part is still not available from Ford and that only an inspection was done prior to sale. Not an actual repair. The recall had to do with engine fires ! maybe all these cars need to be of the road.
This happened twice in less than a month. Driving the Ford Escape at lower speeds (less than 40 mph) on a city street during morning traffic hours. Suddenly heard a continuous loud sound on the rear right of car. Vehicle then lost power. Engine shut down. Had to pull to the shoulder and restart the car. Then it worked fine. The dealer could not find any error codes when I took in for service. The air conditioner was on. Outside temperature was around 70f. Not raining.
