When driving the traction control light, brake light, and abs light came on. These light will not go out. Taking it to a mechanic, they tell me it is the abs module. The test cost $100. To replace the module will cost $1395. Should this not be a warranted item for safety? the shop told me that the abs and traction control will not work until the module is replaced.

On December 20, 2014 at approximately 3:30 pm we were driving on i15 - into salt lake city - 19 miles south of I-80. Passenger moon roof shattered with a loud bang! sounded like an explosion. It raised up the glass on the outside of the car. The temperature was 41 degrees outside & 71 degrees inside care. My husband & I were the only people in the car. We were in 5-6 lanes of traffic & did not stop until we got off the highway. Rain was coming so we took pictures with our camera & I phone & taped up the roof over the cracks & covered it with a tarp. We returned to boise area the following day. We parked it in our garage until we could deliver the car to lithia Ford in boise on 12/22/14. (we purchased it from lithia Ford) the service tech said he thought it would be covered by warranty but would have to contact Ford & get back with us. We researched this problem & saw in the past that this has happened. Ford made the decision, it was something we did & we therefore had to turn it into our insurance & we had to pay the deductible. We believe Ford should have covered this damage, not our insurance company.

Ford - complete ac failure/ ac dryer failure when I turned on the ac for the first time this year it made a loud grinding noise then never cooled. Took it in to the dealership to check for problem. Car has 41400 miles on it (little more than 5000 over the 36000) but still has 6 months on warranty. The dealer said there was no problem. (roselle Ford)where purchased. Even though a loud grinding sound was present and no cold air. . He told her to bring it somewhere else. . She did, they vacuumed &charged. It worked for 2 weeks then stopped. She brought to another Ford dealer and he said it would cost $2000 and had to replace the whole system. . She went to pick it up and he told her he replaced a resister on the blower switch. . . I know its not fixed. . We'll have to see. . But if Ford really wants to be our car company, then they should stand behind their prouduct. Thats a big repair bill for only 41000 miles. Here is what I have learned so far and no service bulletin on this from Ford. Dealer called and gave the following description of the problem . . . "in the ac dryer there is a filter bag with "little blue balls" of desiccant. It seems that it is a very common problem that these filter bags burst and flood the entire ac system with the balls (aka "debris") which causes all the parts to fail and or clog. Many of the parts can't be effectively flushed so they have to be replaced. " the cost to replace the entire ac system (all valves, tubes, hoses, evaporator, compressor, condenser, accumulator, dryer, etc. ) came to $2,022. 65. This dryer unit that is causing all the problems is a non-servicable unit and is in no way affected by regular maintenance, and there is nothing that can be done to prevent a failure. To make matters even worse is that when they do replace the system. . . They use the same dryer as the one that failed. Unbelievable.

P2111, throttle actuator control system stuck open, I had to drive to an auto zone to get this code while the car was in this condition. Otherwise these was no error code recorded. The engine run at an idle and will not accelerate when accelerator is depressed.
While driving my vehicle it's approch sensor went off. I thought it was due to being in traffic but then it went off on a constant high pitch squeel. It lasted for about 3 minutes then shut off. Then when I was on the hands free telephone device through the Ford consal it went off again and I could not stop the very high pitch squeel and I had to pull off the road and put it in park. Then it happened while sitting at a stop sign. The squeel was so loud I wanted to take the vehicle to Ford and ask for a refund. I could not stop the sound and it sounded like my speakers were on high but I couldnt lower the volume. This was a new vehicle and just drove it off the lot about a month or less. It hasn't happened since.

Vehicle stalled while driving on the freeway at approximately 55 mph. Initially the check engine light came on, followed by the "yellow wrench" light, at which point the vehicle accelerator no longer affected the rpms and no propulsion was possible. Vehicle was turned off by driver, and later restarted and functioned normally, I proceeded to drive it to a dealership, it stalled again enroute to the dealership, the same process of turning the car off, and then on again to continue was administered and the vehicle made it to the dealership. As reported by ourismann Ford dealership, the vehicle throttle box failed and needs to be replaced. It was confirmed this had nothing to do with the driver, operation or maintenance of the vehicle, it is a design/manufacturing defect. This is not covered by the powertrain warranty, unfortunately, this part was only covered by the bumper to bumper warranty which ran out on my 3 year old car which was purchased as a certified pre-owned Ford less than 2 years ago. This is a serious safety issue as the driver loses all control of acceleration unexpectedly, I was lucky I was not rear-ended on the freeway.

I was driving home from work at 11:45 p. M. And my vehicle started to slow down, I pulled over to the side of the road ,I stepped on the gas and nothing. So I shut it off and waited a few minutes and restarted it, the vehicle took off and I made it home,26 miles. This happened the next morning when my husband drove it took it to decorah auto center Ford and they said they can't do anything with out acode. I have to restart the vehicle to drive it and this erases the code. Today is the 5th and it happened again that is 3 times in5 days. The little wrench lights up in the lower left on dash . This is very scary especially in heavy traffic. How can I gat a code to get this fixed? I have torestart to drive.
My Escape was parked in driveway when we went to go to town and it was smoking then on fire this was in the evening about 8 if we hadn't gone out we would have had a huge fire witch could have involved 3 other cars not to mention our house we live in ramona CA 92065 and its fire season we are in a rural area. .
While traveling at approximately 45mph, without any warning the vehicle lost complete power and stalled in the middle of the road. I was able to restart, drive approximately 50 feet with the same results. A wrench symbol appeared. Called a wrecker and had the vehicle towed to my dealership service department. Was informed by the service rep that they needed to replace the throttle body but did not have the part available. Nine days later today I have no answers, explanations, or transportation,.
This problem started about 2013 my car ignition was not starting the car I have to press in then turn so that my car can start this was getting so aggravating so I took it to a shop and they switched out the ignition switch and that did not last long. I am now dealing with this issue again and it is expensive. I am so tired of my car not starting when I turn the key. I had to get my car towed because of it and I sometimes get stuck after shopping or at work and I have to keep turning the key until it start. I believe this has something to do with the recall I had last year on my car I hope that Ford look into this issue I believe it is something going on deeper than the switch and Ford need to fix it. I need help with this issue.
My 2011 Ford Escape has now had service three times in two years for "bucking/slipping" in the transmission. The "bucking/slipping" is experienced with all gears but generally worse between 2nd and 3rd and just starting out. It is also bad when the car has been idle for many days. All three times its been in for service at the Ford dealer they say its the adaptive transmission that is the culprit. They redo the algorithims its fine for a week then goes back to normal. The latest service also included having the transmission axle seals replaced.
First occurance was while at idle the wheel wouldn't turn without extreme pressure. Now, 1/24/2013 the power assist goes in and out with no warning. The vehicle steering comes close to locking up but doesn't actually get there.
Car was recalled in December with 786 miles on it due to recall notice 12s41 and was kept in the shop for repair from December 3rd, 2012 to December 20th, 2012. While getting an oil change on may 17th, 2013 it was discovered that the engine has an oil leak as well as the stereo buttons working intermittently. The car is now being brought in today for an unknown time of repair. The car was brand new when purchased on November 24th, 2012 and only had 6,428 miles at the time the recent oil leak and stereo malfunction was discovered.
It was two days after I got the car, I was driving home from manassas to fairfax, all of a sudden the engine light came on the truck started to sputter and I lost acceleration in my truck. I was on 495 at night and the dash board stated that the car would shut down so that the engine would not over heat. I had to call a tow truck to pep boys in annandale, va and they fixed the problem. But, I still have acceleration problems after it was fixed. I will take it back to pepboys to find out if it is the same problem.

On 22 Nov 2011 my 2011 Ford Escape XLT auto awd 2. 5l i4 rear windshield exploded after closing tailgate/hatch! I look inside soon after to see if anything had been in the way to cause it and their was not! this would have only been my third time opening the hatch part as I usually open the glass part mostly and which I also did that day and there was not indication on my dash that anything was still open so later that day I had to open my tailgate and I closed it and my windshield exploded! I have since had it replaced and am writing to you to inform you of this so that I will not happen to others! I have looked online at carcomplaints. Com and your site to see their are other complaints about rear windshield exploding which to be could be a safety issue for occupant and their families! I would like if possible for a review of all 2011 Ford Escape models to see if an upgrade to the hardware or support equipment needs to be done and maybe a safety bulleting to all 2011 Ford Escape owners to be aware of problem and how to prevent it! I was wondering if maybe it had anything to do with cabin pressure????? I say this because when you open the backseat windows I hear an echoing of sound in my SUV and I wonder with a certain amount of pressure applied to closing rear gate the pressure pushing off backseats is causing rear windshield to blow out??????? v/r, conerned Ford owner. . . .
At 2700 miles the airbag warning light started to go on and vehicle was taken to dealer for a check on airbag problem. Supposedly fixed, however one week later had to return vehicle to dealer due to airbag warning light again going on. Problem supposedly fixed by tightening loose wirre cables in cable harness but one month later returned vehicle again as air bag warning was again coming on and there was concern as we didn't know if airbag would deploy if needed or worse may deploy at any time. Advised that cause was excessive electrical resistance in wire cable harness and defective sensors. Since that time there has been no further problem with airbag readiness warning. In fall of 2012 a new problem started which at first I thought might be due to leaving parking brake partially on. Steering at 40 mph all of a sudden became very difficult and center console warning lights and traction warning light came on. After pulling off the road, stopping and restarting the vehicle there was no problem. Problem started again in April 2013 with vehicle still under 10,000 miles. Took vehicle to dealer and problem supposedly fixed. Drove about 6 to 8 miles and problem occurred again with warning lights coming on and difficult to steer at freeway speed. Returned vehicle to dealer and picked up two days later with problem supposedly cured. 4 days later all warning lights went on again and steering as before was difficult. Had vehicle towed to dealer as all agreed it was not safe to drive. After a week of testing and work vehicle was ready . Was advised that problem was loose wires in cable harness and faulty sensors. I have now been driving the vehicle about 2 weeks with no further problems but am greatly concerned that I may have purchased a defective and possibly dangerous vehicle. What protection do we have?.
