1 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/29/2020

I was driving home when the engine to my 2013 Ford Escape started smoking enough to engulf the inside of the vehicle with black smoke. The engine then caught fire while I was still in drive. I placed the vehicle in park and jumped out when in a matter of seconds the entire engine was in flames, seconds after that the whole vehicle was on fire. The fire dept. Came to put it out. The fire dept. Left and the fire was extinguished. Approximately 45 minutes later, the car started on fire again. This time it was letting off small explosions' of sparks. The fire dept. Came again and extinguished the fire. I asked them if they had any idea what caused it. One fire fighter's reply was "no idea, I have never seen any thing like this before in my life" the car had 89000 miles on and had been inspected by Ford a few months ago with no complications found in the engine. The heat gauge never raised to make myself, the driver aware of any over heating. The fire started right infront of my home as I was pulling into my driveway while I was still in drive/motion.

4 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2019 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

While operating the vehicle at approximately 70mph on the interstate I noticed that all instrument panel lighting, gauges, and display screens went out. The gauge needles returned to their home positions. There was an error message on the main touch screen that said: network communication failure. Worried, I took the next available exit and found a parking lot to investigate. I immediately tried to shut the engine off, figuring that if I completely shut the car down the system would somehow correct itself after a reboot of the the pcm and bcm. I quickly realized that I was in trouble, the engine would not shut off. The vehicle is equipped with a Smart keyless start system but no matter how many times I would try pushing the button. Even though the car operated properly after the symptoms commenced I find it doubtful that all of the car's safety features would have operated as designed, if needed. If I would have gotten into in accident at the time the car was experiencing these problems would the safety restraint system work properly and deploy the applicable air bags??? would the auto fuel pump shutdown do its job if needed??? also, what if the vehicle caught fire at this time and I could not shut off the car??? not safe!!!.

10/7/17 approx 6:30 pm while entering on ramp onto frway at approx 35 mph, driving dist of less than 1/2 to 3/4 mile from last parked stop, indicator dash memo of "engine temp high pull over safely", no indication on engine temperature gauge as it registered below mid mark. Pullled over on frway into closed lanes, turned off engine. Turned on again to advance 10 ft out of way of onramp vehicles, temp gauge indicated "h", turned off engine. 6 Recreational Vehicle Lpg Tank Valve/gauge problem of the 2013 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 08/28/2017

First incident: August 3rd 2016 while driving 50mph car displayed a engine overheating warning message and slowed down as I pulled off the road. After a few minutes I was able to drive again and the message did not reappear, the check engine light was on. I took the car to kearney person Ford 7303 clairemont mesa blvd san diego, CA 92111 they told me they couldn't find anything wrong and turned the check engine light off. Second incident: driving to work earlier this year 2017 I got the same message that my engine coolant was low, and to slow down because of critical overheating, even though I had just had the car serviced for a regular maintenance check, once again at kearny person Ford. I was driving normally on a road at around 30-40mph but accelerating when the message popped up. I refiled the coolant as the check engine light did not turn on. Third incident: this was the most dangerous time. Critical engine overheating message and low coolant message popped up without warning while driving up hill in traffic going about 20mph on the I-5s at the in California grapevine. The engine nearly shut off and limped on just a couple cylinders as I tried to get to the shoulder. Smoke was coming out from under the hood and the engine was hot. It all happened immediately and without warning, the temp gauge was normal and then bam! overheated with warning messages crippling the car. Driving slowly but the weather was hot it was nearly 110 degrees outside. Seems super dangerous. Because of the lack of warning when these incidents happen. The way that the coolant just disappears, and the smoke and chance of fire.
