2 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2016 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/02/2019

I have a 2016 Ford Escape se and went to drive 15 minutes down the road to the store. After shopping I returned to the car and it wouldn't start. A person near me offered to give me a jump. However it was weird the car didn't seem like the battery was dead. A light was also flashing that I had never seen before. Have been told now that it is apart of the anti theft system. Then I noticed the dashboard said no key detected. I don't have a push start. I have a key that goes in the ignition. I'm sitting in front of the store with a car that wont start because it saying no key when I have the key in the ignition. I started looking online and found this was a known issues with Ford Escape and there was no fix. That makes no sense. Its insane that at any time my car will not start because of no key detected when I have the key in the ignition. I should not be forced to pay for new keys and batteries that won't ever solve my issue. . Read more...

3 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/22/2018

Driving 65 mph on the interstate my 05 Escape began to skip, stall & died, anti theft light came on. I drive for 20 miles slow with it skipping and stalling. When I left off on gas it would continue to run until I made it to safe place. Attempted to drive for repair on state hwy it stalled and went dead. Ford dealership reprog keys- repaired drive off, barely off the lot and it quit again. Now I see this is a manufactures issue with 05 Escapes after an online search. New Ford diagnosis- new plugs & coil pack, intake gasket. 170,000 miles. My alarm randomly goes off too which could be related to electrical issues. Ford motor is liable if someone's vehicle stalls and is killed due to this problem they know about but have not corrected or recalled.

4 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2008 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 11/10/2018

I have been having multiple problems with this vehicle. I went and got the power steering recall fixed 1 yr to maybe 2 yrs ago and Ford said it was fixed. Now I'm having power steering going out while driving and car pulls to the right. I then turn the vehicle off and back on and it goes back to working correctly. I went back to Ford and they said that the recall has been fixed and closed out and nothing they can do. Now I'm having power steering still going out and now all my lights (abs, traction control, tire, air bag, anti theft light). After spending 200 at Ford they told me ecm is bad and need to replace. Almost 500 at Ford for keys to be programmed to new computer I am still having same problems and Ford wants me to spend more money to see what the next step is.

5 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2010 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/18/2017

The anti-theft signal keeps coming on in my car. When I am moving and not moving all the warning in my car comes on. The speedometer goes to zero, the gas gage goes to empty, etc with all the other warning lights. I was driving on the highway and all of sudden every single warning light came on. I immediately got off the next exit and parked at a gas station. I turned the car off, but it would not start for about 10 minutes. I finally got it to start and drove quickly to work. I took the car that afternoon to Ford service. They said it was my ignition, so they changed the part and charged me over $320. When I drive my car the next morning, it happened again. I took my car to Ford again that morning. Now they tell me the board that had the electrical parts is corroded, so they changed that and charged over $720. The next day after I took the car home it happened for a quick moment, but then it stopped. Today 10/18/17 which is 2 days after I picked my car up from Ford service I let my car warm up in the morning for about 10 mins, but when I got in the car all the warning lights came on again. This time the car would not start at all and the anti-theft warning light kept blinking each time. So I had to call a tow truck. So now I have no car, I'm out over $1,000 and I have to get a car rental. And Ford service continues to charge each time including a diagnostic test for over $100. I didn't know I had an anti-theft system and I don't need one. There is nothing wrong with the car, but Ford service is not able to fix this. I don't feel safe driving the car and I don't know what I am going to do now. In my opinion this is a Ford manufacturing problem and I should not be charged to fix this problem. I don't want an anti-theft system. I want my money back. I have pictures for two of the times this happened. Although it happened more than two times.

8 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/08/2010

I own a 2005 Ford Escape and have numerous issues since I purchased the vehicle in November 2004. The transmission has been replaced and one coil pack. Throughout the time I have owned the vehicle the theft light comes on and tried to shut the vehicle down while I was driving (40+mph). It cleared for a little while after the transmission was replaced, then it returned. Ford changed one ignition coil and said that if we changed the spark plugs it would probably fix the theft shut down problem. Well we changed the spark plugs and the vehicle continued trying to shut down the vehicle while I was driving(40+mph). Now the vehicle will not start at all. There is juice from the battery, all the lights and radio come on, but the car refuses to turn over. We have checked everything possible, including: the battery, fuses, and having it tested by a certified mechanic. The anti-theft system or Ford pats ii system seems to be defective which also be connected to the pcm. There are thousands of complaints regarding the 2005 Ford Escape pats ii system and pcm. I do not understand why a recall has not been forced. The 2005 Ford Escape were initially released with the wrong spark plugs which causes damage and they did not recall the spark plugs. With these very evident manufacturer defects, and tsbs that have been distributed through Ford - there needs to be a recall and items repaired. Consumers should not have to pay to fix the problems that Ford caused and will not take responsibility for. My vehicle is a 2005 Ford Escape XLT v6 3. 0l purchased at ukiah Ford Lincoln Mercury in ukiah, California.

In addition, the steering wheel failed to turn in any direction and the tires locked. The VIN was unavailable.

Failure Date: 04/20/2009

I have a 2005 Escape. When I am driving the theft light goes on and the vehicle stalls.

11 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2001 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/03/2004

My 2001 Ford Escape had to be towed because the key would not turn in the ignition. The dealer explained it as a" anti- theft system" gone bad. So my ignition had to be re-keyed. (had to buy new keys). Of course that took 3 days. I called Fords and they said even though there is a code in there computer for this. No recall has been ordered on this problem.

12 Anti-theft Controller problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 06/15/2004

Brakes are making noise intermittingly. It sounds like blowing in a bottle. Went to the dealership for service 3 times in the first month of ownership. They keep grinding down the rotors and it's not helping. Apparantly Ford corp. Is aware of the problem and are trying to find a cure. They don't know what to do at this point. Also, stealth security system failed, and the vehicle had to be towed back to the dealer for repair. This also happened in first month of ownership.
