This started in oct. 2019,with brakes in the Ford Escape hybrid. I am not sure how many times the brakes failed last year, but this year alone they have failed at least 5 times. The last 2 times, very serious. I was on road with traffic, coming to a stop sign, trying to brake. Put my foot hard on brake,it never went down rubbery like a brake going out would. It was like trying to push on a cement floor. I shoved it into park,it finally stopped. Next time was even worse,it went right on through stop sign, made loud noise when I was shoving it into park, but finally stopped. Made it safely home and it is still sitting parked. My daughter said she had heard they were recalling many for brakes. It is not safe at all. It was parked on July 1,2020,and has not been moved since.

Transmission is failing. I'm literally waiting for it to drop dead. When driving, the vehicle has multiple hard shifts into different gears. This occurs no matter what gear it goes too. The power acts like it wants to give up and rocks the car back and forth while accelerating and shifting gears. Sometimes the shift doesn't even occur. Move the prndl lever too fast from any setting, the car makes a loud jerking noise. Also when parking on any hill with the e-brake on, the car makes a very loud noise sounding like the brakes are going to giveaway and the car moves. Its barely noticeable, but I sat in the car to test it , and while sitting in the car you could totally tell it moved. It does this 3 times minimum when parked.

When driving my vehicle the brakes begin to make loud noises then it will slow down as I'm trying to accelerate. Then it will pick backup with speed. After which I began to notice a burning smell as if the tires are burning. .

2 months ago we had to stop immediately to go into a shop because our car was making a horrible loud noise and we could barely move the car. The brakes had locked into the pistons and the pistons were cracked and everything involving the brakes needed to be replaced including the calibers. Yesterday 5/30/19 we took it in and yet again the brakes are locked and everything needs to be replaced including the calibers. We looked it up and this is not an uncommon problem https://forums. Rear rotors had excessive rust after 5000 mies. Caused rear brakes to grind and make loud noise. Also caused a one time back up for rear brakes not to work. Ford dealership in dickson, TN did a great job of fixing the problem. Their service dept was excellent.
