The SUV intermittently goes into a no crank/no start condition. You turn the key and it doesn't crank. This happens while I'm traveling and left me stranded at a rest stop and panicking thinking it wasn't gonna start. Since it doesn't happen all the time mechanics can only rely on what they think could be the problem which include the ignition switch ignition lock module and starter relay. I've also found a variety of reviews explaining even after parts are replaced the problem still existing for this specific make and model. And concerning recall number 14v284000. Ford dealerships are only clearing the recall codes if they consider the part not needing to be changed so that aftetwards when the steering torque sensor does go bad they no longer have to check it or fix it for free. Please help because too many people have the same problem for this to have not been recalled yet.

While driving at speeds between 30 an 40 mph, the car suddenly stalled in traffic. All attempts to restart the vehicle ,by myself, were for naught. A nearby garage initially thought the problem was a timing belt issue, but further investigation showed that the problem was with an electrical harness with a possible short. A bit strange for a non-moving part.

My 2001 Ford Escape stalls when I start the car and I am still in first gear. I have taken my car 4 times to the dealership and they say that they cannot find the problem and have never heard of this complaint before. They even put on a "moniter" for me to use when the car stalled. I pressed the button twice, but the dealership told me that I did it wrong because they got the wrong readings. After the last time I brought it to Ford, they replaced a part and said that it was fixed. Seven months later it is stalling again. . As much as three times a day!! it is getting worse.
