2 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2006 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 10/22/2008

2006 Ford Escape gas fills very slowly. Gas backs out the tank. Ford refuses to fix it because I am 5000 miles over warranty. Known issue since 2006. . . . . 4 technical service bulletins regarding the issue. Wants to charge me $87 to "diagnose" it, plus labor, parts, etc. Dangerous to me to have gas spilling out of vehicle because the drainage is clogged; the gas cap cover is missing, so I can only assume that it's in the tube. . . . . Poor construction.

3 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2005 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 01/29/2008

I am having trouble adding gas to my SUV, it keep shutting the nozel off. I must very slowley add the gas or it will shut off. Today 1/29/08, I added 10 gallons of gas and it took me about 20 minutes to do so. I have taken the SUV to the dealer where I bought it to have it checked out. They replaced the fill tube and told me that it should be ok now, but that I should still add the gas at a slow rate because the new pumps at the stations are more pressure sensitive and will shut off faster. I am still having the problem and need a solution as I like the SUV and would not like to get rid of it just because it takes so long to put in gas.

6 Tank Filler Pipe And Cap problem of the 2004 Ford Escape

Failure Date: 12/21/2004

When filling the gas tank, the automatic shut off when the tank is full does not function. This leads to excess gas spilling out. This has occured at numerous self-serve and full serve gas stations indicating that it is not a problem with the pump but a problem with the design of the gas tank/intake mechanism.
