I purchased this truck 3 months ago from mike marooney north. When I got home I noticed it would not stay in park at all. This caused it to roll down the street with my baby in it. I have made over 50 attempts to get the dealer to put me in a safe vehicle or refund the $3200 back. They refuse to call me back or email me. They told me it was fixed after 3 days but it wasnt.

It's happened be for but never so scary. We were coming down one of the mountains on highway 299. We were, doing the speed limit of 55. And as we applied the brake it started pulling to the right. Like it was gonna go off the road. It also was vibrating so bad it felt like it was going to fall apart. We pulled over checked for loose bolts. Tire imperfections but nothing.
The contact owns a 2002 Ford Excursion. The contact stated that while traveling 55 mph and applying the brakes, there was an abnormal noise heard from the braking system. The brake pedal became stuck and the vehicle would not slow down. The contact continued to pump the brakes and was able to coast to a stop. The contact later parked the vehicle and noticed that a fire had started from under the vehicle. The contact was able to extinguish the fire however, the transmission and central computer was destroyed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where the transmission computer module, transmission and the brake booster was replaced. The dealer advised that the brake booster leaked onto the transmission and the front drive shaft, causing the vehicle to catch on fire. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer three weeks prior to fire and there was no indication of a potential failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was 190,000.

Was traveling approximately 65mph on the freeway merging onto another freeway when the truck suddenly stalled. There were no brakes, no steering, and the truck would not restart. We had four children with us, three of them small and in car seats. We had to transfer the children into a tow truck with moving traffic on both sides of us. It was a very dangerous situation, that could have resulted in a major accident causing major trauma or death. Ficm is good, we are still trying to figure out the problem, but could possibly be the high pressure oil pump. This 6. 0l diesel engine should be recalled and fixed by Ford. This issue has been addressed with pick-ups and vans, but not the Excursion.

Lost control of vehicle resulting in rollover crash. Exact defect uncertain (happened very quickly) but probably right rear wheel locked with inability to steer vehicle as result. Also, several month history of difficulty with brakes for months with identifiable cause despite 4 visits to Ford mechanics.
Brakes are marginal for stopping this vehicle. When stopping or stopped on an incline (+/- 10 %) the brake pedal travels to a point even with or below the height of the accelerator pedal. This condition causes the engine to accelerate as the brake pedal is depressed to stop or hold the vehicle. The dealer has checked it thoroughly and finds that all systems and components are ok. I don't agree - it is an unsafe condition and exists on my daughters same type of vehicle.
Vehicle pulls left while braking, and paint is peeling in the wheel wells. The problem was confirmed by the dealer's technician who made recommendations to correct the problems. Due to the excessive cost the consumer decided to have the vehicle repaired at a local repair shop. The repair shop corrected the problem that the dealer recommended but that did not resolve the issue. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who explained that the repair would be costly. The consumer later received a service bulletin (03-19-10 dated September 9, 2003) which was in reference to a braking problem. The consumer does not feel comfortable driving the vehicle.
On 04/28/2000, I was towing my boat and trailer to lake erie on ohio state route 11 north when my rig suddenly began to fishtail extensively in perfect road and whether conditions and at a speed of approximately 50mph. I immediately applied electric trailer brakes to all four trailer wheels which did operate but to no avail. I then tried to hold the brakes on the trailer and also apply acceration to the truck to pull this rig out of the fishtail. Within a matter of 5 seconds or less, I was thrown off the right side of the road into the hillside with a blown right rear tire on the truck. Having pulled boats and trailers all of my life I couldn't figure out why this rig got away from me so fast, especially at the speed I was going. After everything about firestone tires that came out in the following months, I feel that something definitely happened to this tire to cause the accident. After getting the truck repaired and then checking the consumer report's website about tires, I decided to check out the dot dates of the tires that remained on the truck and found out that all these tires that were installed as original equipment were manufactured in early 1990. As far as I'm concerned, this is fraud and negligence on both firestone's and Ford's part since they sold and put outdated tires on this new truck. I emailed a complaint to Ford's customer service with the same information that I am providing you, but it was to no avail. At this time I'm looking into possibly filing a suit against both Ford and firestone. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at home or work. Thank you. Robert e. Archer, d. D. S.
