36 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

I was traveling down the road hit black ice and then slide into a tree head on. Both the driverside and passenger sideairbags failed to deploy. I was wearing my seat belt but still suffered facial trauma. I received several sutures in my lips and the inside of my mouth. I think Ford should investigate and do something about this problem. I feel that if my airbags would have deployed I wouldnt have suffered the trauma to my face.

42 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2008 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 03/18/2010

Traveling at 55mph going east-a truck with trailer was traveling west carrying those large round hay bales one of the hay bales fell off. The hay bale hit the pavement right in front of me and I was unable to avoid hitting the bale. There is extensive frontal damage, windshield smashed in continued on top of my vehicle damaging the roof. The driver and passenger door did not open- I had to kick the passenger door several times to be able to get it open just enough to get out of the vehicle. None of my airbags deployed and my seatbelt did not lock up. I had my seatbelt on at time of crash but when vehicle was towed away to a body shop (I do not know yet if they are going to total it, some seem to think so) I asked the gentlemen why my airbags did not deploy, he said I should contact Ford. I then asked him why my seatbelt did not lock up (I hit the steering wheel) he went over to the seatbelt-it was still pulled out some but he was able to pull it and it retracted back. He said I should contact Ford about that as well. My concern is that I feel that my airbags should have deployed with this accident and I definitely think my seatbelt should of locked out. This issues has not been resolved because the insurance adjustor needs to make a decision as to whether they are going to fix this or total the vehicle. This is very concerning to me. I did not go to the hospital at the time of the accident but went later that night due to pain in my neck, chest, left hip and knee along with left thumb.

44 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2003 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 12/10/2008

On 12/10/2008 my wife was involved in a traffic crash. She drives a 2003 Ford Expedition. Impact occurred on the front driver side. Airbags did not deploy. Not sure what to do about this? wife has neck pain, children on board are ok, not complaining of any pain or injury. Everyone on board were fastened to seatbelts and car seats. Just very concerned, because accident could have been worse and not sure why airbags did not work. The other parties vehicle was a scion xd not sure what year. Their airbag did work and impact was practically same location, front driver side corner. Was this a defect? need to investigate somehow? please feel free to send me some advise. Thank you.

45 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 11/24/2008

Driver side airbag failure to deploy-was involved in a single car accident on Nov. 24, 2008. . . Hit black ice patch, ended up in a deep ditch and creek bed. Was traveling approx 35 to 40 mph. Front end of car experienced heavy damage. Driver was wearing seat belt. Passenger airbag did deploy, no passenger present in vehicle. Driver side airbag did not deploy. This is a serious safety issue!!!! vehicle sustained $13,000 in estimated repairs. Mileage on vehicle was 53,000. Due to extensive repair estimate, vehicle was deemed totaled. We are seeing several others in this website and others on the internet who have experienced front end and rear end crashes with this model and year auto and obviously no one at Ford is bothering to phone people back, nor investigate the problem or do a recall. How many lives will be taken before anyone does anything?? luckily I was not injured in the crash other than a sore neck from the seatbelt lashing. We pay for these "safety" items on our vehicles but what good are they when they do not work????????? it's insane.

Thought there was something wrong with the sensor that made the airbags not deploy. Had the truck checked by galpin Ford, but they said that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. 64 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2006 Ford Expedition

Failure Date: 05/01/2006

Purchased vehicle in January 2006, brand new from the dealer. Shortly thereafter, the back window was leaking. Had the back window repaired, still leaks. The seal on both the driver and passenger's front windows were missing. Took the vehicle back 3 times before this was fixed. After that, the engine began making a loud grinding noise. Vehicle has been back in the shop at least 3 times, one time they kept it for a week, claim they can not duplicate. They then decided it was the a/c compressor and we should have the a/c off when starting the vehicle. Tried it, does not work. Now that the vehicle is out of warranty, it is making the loud grinding noise even more. At one point, we were told by a salesman that we should just call roadside assistance if we break down while on vacation. Just what we wanted was to have our vacation ruined by a Ford screw up. The dealer won't acknowledge that there is a problem and won't fix it. On top of that the dvd entertainment system that came with the vehicle won't stay closed, the cover over the motor for the third seat has come detached and doesn't fold up right and the air conditioner is warm when sitting still. All problems that a major corporation should not have on a vehicle that has been on the market for several years. Would really like all the problems completely fixed or a replacement. Driver's side airbag did not deploy when had very hard frontal impact either.

The vehicle sustained body damage and was towed to an independent repair shop however no repairs were made. The manufacturer was contacted. Contact was seeking from Ford the reassurance of safety . He wants Ford to ton inspect the vehicle and determine why the air bags did not work. The impact wa shard enough to trigger them. The reason given to the consumer was that the sensor was not hit hard enough. Wants the dealer to be more forthright with contact and tell him the truth.

As the taurus executed the turn I proceeded to hit his front passenger quarter panel, the impact of which mainly to my front driver's side.
