Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Ford Expedition based on all problems reported for the Expedition.
Brakes failed in panic situation on dry road. Brakes grabbed and then completely let go when antilock system took over. There was no surge in the pedal as it went completely to the floor. My road speed was 35 mph when I hit the brakes and I would say their was at least 100ft between mine and the stopped vehicle in front of me. I thought of swerving to miss it but was sure I would at least slow enough to only bump the vec. In front of me. The guy I hit said he heard a chirp and a couple seconds later got hit. There where no skid marks that I know of. Their was 21000 dollars damage to the front of my 2006 expidition.

Low speed to moderate speed you apply the brake pedal as you would normally do and all of a sudden you have no pedal and it starts to pump for no reason at all it happens on dry roads and wet or snow covered roads then you finally stop and look down at the dash trying to figure out what just happened and the abs light is illuminated on the dash for no reason at all. I have had just about every brake part sensors, computer ect. . Replaced it worked for a couple of months and now it is starting again there is no warning before it happens. I am really worried cause now I have a son 17 who occasionally drove the vehicle but as a result of the brakes malfunctioning he can no longer drive the Expedition (unsafe). I have read other complaints on here about the same thing happening. I am going to contact the local Ford dealership but I know that is going to cost me more money than I already put out to fix it!.

problems: door rattles, brake failure
no Ford product to date has required as many service calls as this 2004 Expedition. The door rattles have never been totally fixed after7 attempts. I believe that there is a design flaw in the advance trac system that has caused a brake failure on two occasions. I do not intent to wait around for a third time. Last summer, I was traveling at approximately 50 m. P. H. When approaching a light in heavy traffic. The brakes failed. The pedal pulsated as if I was on ice, but the pavement was perfectly dry. I avoided a massive rear end collision by taking evasive action, and driving over a berm. The brakes acted as if they had about 10 % of their stopping power. When I called the service department at paoli Ford, they suggested I restart the vehicle and turn off the advanced trac button. This did restore the brakes. I dropped the truck off and they replaced some yaw sensor parts under warranty, and declared it safe to drive. This same brake failure has now happened again! the message center indicated 2 advtrac faults, but the service department says that the fault codes scrolled off the system by the time they were able to test it. They suggested that I drive it until the brakes fail again. I will not subject my family to the danger of this situation again! I do not intent to wait around for the next time the brakes fail. Ford has designed their traction control system to remove braking power when there is a potential rollover. However, when there is a problem with the yaw sensor, it can remove the braking power while traveling straight on a dry road. Ford has eliminated rollover lawsuits, but caused a brake failure in the process.

Vehicle was parked and it caught on fire. Owner was notified by nephew that the vehicle was on fire. The fire department was notified, and extinguished the blaze. A report was taken, and the cause was determine dto be the abs sensor and or the cruise control where the fire originated.

The abs sensors were replaced with different sensors due to cancelling out of abs system. Engineers informed mechanic sensors not being mounted in housing correctly. Been to dealer 6 times for this abs system problem. Have no brakes when applied.
