I was approaching an intersection at craig and I-15. This is known to have a green light, yet the traffic will suddenly stop instead of a steady flow. I was driving my Ford Expedition that I purchased less than 2 weeks before. Suddenly the traffic stopped, I slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. I noticed that my vehicle did not stop. I ended up hitting the vehicle in front of me. I got cited for going too fast for the condition of the traffic. At that time I did not notice a problem with the pedals, accelerator and brake have a conflict. Since the vehicle was new to me, I did not notice the problem until a month later, although I questioned how I could have this collision after slamming on the brakes as I did. After the vehicle got out of the shop, I was driving in a residential area. I applied the brake to slow down and noticed the acceleration increasing. It was then that I realized that I was pressing the accelerator and brake pedal at the same time. I am 6'3" tall with a 11 1/2 in shoe. My foot is larger than the average man, I believe that the pedals are too close together until you are aware of this and make a conscience effort to switch from one pedal to another.

While driving my Ford 2004 Expedition eddie bauser, the brake pedel will go all the way to the floor, & the braking system will failed to work, vehicle will not stop, this happens 4 time, & the dealer ( brandon Ford ) & Ford refuse to help us, the dealer after looking at the vehicle every time said nothing happens to the brake, we are afraid to drive the vehicle, for we might not be lucky the next time it happen, the last time it happen was on may 26, my wife was driving with the kids when it happen, she had to pull onto the side of the road in order to avoid hitting the cars in front of her which cause her to hit at road sign, which cause about $2100 in body repair cost, we need to file a complaint against brandon Ford & Ford motor company for not thinking about their customer safty & life & family. The brake pedal separated from its linkage. This occurred while driving. As a result, consumer was unable to depress the brake pedal when needed. This caused the vehicle to impact a curb. Police inspector indicated that it was due to a manufacturing defect.

The relationship of the brake & accelerator is unsafe. When the brake is engaged, it is below the level of the accelerator. In an emeregency stop, it is possible to fully engage the brake, and with your foot partially overhanging to accidently engage the accelerator. This is a design problem with all Expeditions, and Ford has been unwilling to correct it.

Brake and gas pedal seem to be too close together. Numerous times consumer applied brake pedal and ended up on gas pedal at same time. Been to dealer who said that was just the way these vehicles were designed. The vehicle has a design flaw, according to the consumer.

To fully engage the brake, the consumer has to press it below the level of the accelerator, if consumers foot is partially hanging over the accelerator would become engaged before the brake was fully engaged, dealer said vehicle met factory specs. Nlm.
